Meet-n-Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

He reappeared a foot above the deck in a wide space filled with mingling people. He drifted gently to the ground, taking in the familiar vibrations of a large ship, the recycled air, the presence of so many people in one small bubble of life… He’d spent almost twenty years aboard an ark like this one, but there he’d known every voice that rang through his mind.

And all that had been before he had lain down to die…

He glanced around the room, but still, there was no presence that seemed identical to the voice that had spoken below. You have been Chosen. But he shouldn’t have been. That was Tony’s place now. And he could feel, like felt the absence of Physis and Seele and Keith, that Tony wasn’t here, wherever here was, which meant that something had gone horribly, horribly wrong.

“I need to speak with Stacy,” he said to the nearest cluster of people, and it surprised him how strong his own voice sounded. Only moments before, it had been almost impossible to speak, with a sword through his stomach and a deep wound to his shoulder; now that pain had vanished inexplicably, and he was refreshed, rested, awake.

Haku was standing there, two-legged for once, and when the boy appeared he simply looked at him placidly, like a cat examining a particular mote of dust among hundreds.

"Stacy is everywhere," he reminded the boy quietly, "We're inside her body."

Fresh from Weapons and Possessions, the wizard floated to the Observation Deck slowly, mind churning at lightning speed as he observed his surroundings. With his gear back, he cut a much finer figure than the naked snot-covered elf spewed forth from the pod: wizard's staffs slung across his back, belt pouches secured at his waist along with a brace of wands on his right side; robes (conjured over his plantsuit) and long hair drifting in a breeze that seemed to affect only him.

He was ready for anything, spells of protection layered around him and ones of offense close at hand. But with nothing hostile in the immediate offing, Aibghalien relaxed slightly. Certainly not entirely.

A small rat was making her way through the crowd, sniffing as she looked for something- or someone. A rolled up piece of cloth was tied to her like a harness. In the cloth was a message, "For Loretta, Mikel, or Amanda, I'm on board. I've missed you. You can find me on the comms, and I'll tell you where to meet me there"

Rats however, can get disrtacted upon occasion, and this little black rat was just that. She went up to the elf and sniffed at his feet. He was not any of those that she was told to found, but her instincts told her that he was good. He was someone that it would be good for Alex to meet.

The words rang in Wheeljack's mind, leaving him reeling. W-what . . . what had happened!? Where was he? Where were the others? Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Ratchet, Bumblebee, Prowl, Jazz, Beachcomber, Bluestreak, Smokescreen . . . anyone!?

And this Stacy-being's words . . . champions of life, well yes, that was the base definition of being an Autobot: All life is sacred. It was what he had been fighting for, life and freedom, for a hundred thousand vorns now. But this . . . something in the being's communication made it sound . . . different. Sinister, even. Well, no, not quite that, but . . . something. An' what does she mean by "the worlds an' people that're left?

The Cybertronian - once sixteen feet tall but now only a little over six - stepped into this new room teeming with people in greater variety than he'd ever seen, all of them (at least at first impression) organic of one kind or another, and he found himself hanging back a bit as he fought to make sense of it all.

Despite everything that was happening around the ship, the moment Ratchet had heard that a new batch of pod sleepers had been woken up he was heading directly to the obs deck. Being taller than most afforded him a good view over the heads of everyone else but he didn't need his optics to pick up the presence of Cybertronian life. He turned in the direction his sensors pointed him and spotted a face that he was pretty sure he knew even better than his own.

"Wheeljack!" He moved as quickly as he could through the crowd, trying not to knock anyone over in his rush to get to his friend. It would've been impossible to hide the relief and joy in his expression so he didn't even try, thankful to luck or fate or Primus or whatever had conspired to spit a familiar face back out into the world at large.

Turlough found. A tie. His old school tie as point of fact. Not for the first time he wondered if it wasn't a good idea for him to go about with some kind of weapon. But he'd always lost them, or left them behind.

Ignoring the fact that he looked slightly ridiculous with it on, he walked out and scanned the crowd, feeling on display.

Sheryl walked straight out of GLaDOS and into the Obs Deck with a gut-wrenching longing for cake and the feeling that she'd been on a fad exercise-diet combo. And, while none of the newcomers were made of cake, some of them were reasonably good looking, which she supposed she could live with. "Looking for someone?" she smiled.

Cinque walked into the crowd, still adjusting the black eyepatch she had retrieved from Weapons and Possessions. When it was settled snugly over her right eye, she slipped on the the long gray trenchcoat that was slung over her arm. With her attire as close to normal as she could get it, she began scanning the crowd for certain people.

The Enforcer in her was seeking out any command-type figures so she could better understand the situation she had suddenly been thrust into. The other side of her, though, was trying to find any familiar faces.

With all the chaos going on in the rest of the ship right now, Nanoha had immediately made her way over to the Obs Deck to try and make sure that nothing would happen to the new arrivals.

Thank god his gun had been in his storage locker down in possessions. Chris felt immensely more at ease around here with a weapon on hand, and the holster made him feel a little less awkward about the skintight choice of clothing around here. He noticed some of the other crew members were wearing ordinary clothes. He'd have to go beg one of them for a T-shirt or something later.

He made a mental note to find somewhere to get a cigarette, too.

Chris still looked uneasy as he scanned the crowd for any sign of a familiar face, as unlikely as it was.

Claire had very little desire to be anywhere besides Contagion right now, watching over her daughter. However, people were being ejected from the pods (great timing, Stacy) and with so many members of the crew busy with the whole virus thing or infected themselves, that left precious little on-hand to deal with the new arrivals.

So, Claire tore herself away from Sherry, and made her way up to the Observation Deck. She hung back at the door for a long moment, surveying the scene as well as making sure the door had people watching it to make sure no infected caused problems. She was actually content on sticking right there, until she noticed a familiar head of hair among the others.

"...Chris?" She said quietly, too surprised to move for a moment. Then she remembered she could move, and started through the crowd, pushing and shoving as politely as she could. "Chris!"

Dustin walked into the crowd, a bit apprehensive but was able to retrieve his morpher which by all accounts shouldn't work but did. He also managed to find his ninja uniform in Weapons and Possessions, so at least he wans't naked. He hoped to find any of his friends walking around. Or maybe a Ranger or two.

A short, fat alien creature entered the observation deck. She looked a bit like a squirrel, though much bigger and with a few more legs. It could have been easy to ignore her as a simple animal, though she had a pair of saddle bags cinched around the middle-most part of her body.

She was aware that she was shorter then the knees of most of the others in the room. In an attempt to remedy this, she picked up her front four paws from the ground and lifted her back, walking only on her back legs. She was still only about three feet tall now, but it was a little better. "Excuse me," she said, to the first person to come near her, "I would like to know who is in charge."

For once Beastboy was the one who was startled by an unusual animal.

With a grin he knelt down, "Oh hey sup! Um...I guess that guy." He pointed and realized the crowd was in his way, "Oh um...well his name's Leon but we have a whole bunch of people who are in charge really. Maybe I can help though?"

He had found his Mother's hat.

The last gift he'd gotten from her was a orange knit hat that at the moment he was holding in his rough and work worn fingers as he let the events of the day process.

He was quiet and looking particularly dangerous glaring at anyone daring to make eye contact as he tried to wrap his head around the simply unbelievable circumstances surrounding today.

Could everyone really be gone? And everything?

No sense in falling apart about it. Fact of the matter was he never cared for most of the verse anyway. Hell he'd spent a good portion of his life making enemies in a fashion. All he could do now was keep going, find a way to do what he did best for profit.

He tucked his mother's hat in his pocket for now.

Wash felt better now that he was clothed - not a lot better, but somewhat. One of the lockers had contained his stuff, which made some kind of undefined paranoia creep up the back of his spine, but his cargo vest was there, along with the pistol he had favored on Serenity and his wedding band. He slipped the latter on his finger, mouth tight, thinking about Zoe.

Walking into the gathering of people was like a system shock - Wash had grown up on a core world, true, but so many years on the ship out in the black had gotten him pretty disused to crowds. He edged between the people, looking for someone familiar-

"Jayne?" Well, it wasn't the kind of familiar he was hoping for, but it was someone. "Jayne!"

Next out is a troll kid in a wheelchair. He looks around, scanning the welcoming crowd for any sign of his little white custodian creature. He didn't think Tinkerbull would be here, but hope springs eternal.

He guesses he'll have to talk to one of the strange alien folk. God, so many. And so many different ages. He's never seen so many adults in his life.

Normally he'd be too scared to speak up, but time's running out. If he doesn't get back to Alternia, at least one friends' life will be forfeit. He approaches a member of the command staff.

"Ex... excuse me. Sorry to bother you. Can, uhh... can you tell me how to get back home?"

The figure in orange armor currently slouched on the organic furniture pauses a handheld game and looks up. Grif hates podpop. All these new people bug him, and sometimes try to make him work.

"Sorry kid, nobody knows for now." He pauses. The helmet tilts a bit to one side.

"...Nice horns."

Playing the sacred little girl had its benefits. She learned that when she crashed Frank D'amico's apartment, and right now it was going to have to work in her favor again. She hated it, acting the demure part, but there was no getting out of it now. She needed to know why she was in this.

The plant suit was uncomfortable, and she tugged at the front suit, more than a little disgruntled at being dressed by flying tentacles. More and more this nuttiness seemed way too perverted to be real. Luckily, there was one thing she still DID have: the Benchamade model 42. She fingered the handle, glad she at least had some way to defend herself, but it isn't as if she couldn't use something else if she had to She would just have to keep an eye out.

So she continued with the "poor me" look on her face, looking completely freaked out. That part wasn't hard, considering the present company: she definitely hadn't seen people like this actually exist. She actually thought she might recognize a few of them. That in itself was freaky: she was sure she didn't know them from her world.

Beastboy spotted the young unhappy looking girl and grinned, kids always liked his shapeshifting.

Shifting into the form of a cat he padded over to her side and meowed adorably making big cute eyes at the newcomer. No one could resist the face.

It's gone.

After all the efforts they'd put in for the past two years, the Earth Sphere was gone? Duo couldn't just accept something like that without a full explanation. Not without something a little more than a bad science fiction flick plot spit out at him-- though he had to admit, if this was some scifi reality show flick, they'd really gone all-out on the special effects.

Either way, he was going to find answers from something other than ol' mommy meatship here. ...And anyway, it wasn't like they coulda killed Heero, that guy was indestructible. He was probably just floating around in open space somewhere right around now. The thought makes him half-giggle, half grimace.

Duo stops a moment as he's handed a pair of new devices, cocking a skeptical brow. Great. Welcome gifts. That sure made up for the bad news, didn't it. He wonders momentarily if he can slip away to do some snooping- but figures he might as well stick around to see if these bozos had anything to say worth hearing.

Elisa wasn't about to let go of the only semblance of normalcy she'd found in this place, patting Duo's plantsuited shoulder companionably. Her own was— well, at least she wasn't naked, and she had her old beat up red jacket. Damn, it had been nice to see it— that old thing had been through Hell, but somehow it had always come out the other end, just like...

Well, it didn't matter; Goliath was practically indestructible.

"And now that we've got some clothes on," she held out her hand, as iff to wave off the air of awkwardness, "Elisa Maza. Good to meet you."

Phillip had found a few things, most notably his long preferred sweater-jacket and the clips that he had put into his hair along with his blank book. In it was still written the message that he left for Shotarou a year ago, and it was still making him wonder if Shotarou was down there, sleeping.

He also held a metal suitcase, one that held his precious cargo. With Fang running loose in the city, it was clear to him that most of his equipment if not all of it was here, and he sat down in a meaty chair before opening it.

Six memories and two Double Drivers. He sighed and closed it up. Clearly Shotarou was not awake for some reason or another.

He'd actually come down this time to try to meet a few of the newest life-forms that have emerged from sleep. It's somehow both scary and exhilarating -- scary in the fact he still has the fear of "Aaaah! Monster!" in his head yet exhilarating for the new curiosities.

Of course, it helps if he could bloody well navigate in the midst of a crowd without the necessity of trailing the wall. Still, the three-foot-tall thing manages and once he squares off? ....sniff.

Is that a Human? Sniff. Ear-twitch. Squeak.

Being clothed is much nicer than not being clothed, even though the plant suit feels like it's strangely alive. Eva supposes she's been through worse, given that at least she's in control of her own body. Anything's a step up from being a human puppet again. She tries to comfort herself with that thought.

Her face still partially disguised by slime and messy hair, Eva hangs near the back of the group. Better to observe than to be observed. Honestly, the whole group looks like the people she saw at that comic convention she took Marco to...how many years ago? Over a decade ago. But somehow, Eva doubts that these are geeks in costume, and since she's seen aliens before much too up-close-and-personally, she has no reason to believe the Snake Girl over in the corner isn't some species the Yeerks didn't know existed.

For that matter, she has no way of knowing how many of these humans are really from Earth, or in control of their own bodies.

She puts her hand up over her nose, pretending to just be trying to ward off the smell of slime in her hair, but mostly just to obscure more of her face.

Dustin gave a glance to the dark haired woman as he walked through the Obs Deck, looking for his friends. He gave a cherful wave to the woman. "Hey! This is pretty crazy, huh? You all right?"

Looking around the crowd, Nunnally couldn't see anyone she recognized. Many of the people in the room were human, but not all of them... that was the especially strange part.

She hung back from the crowd, examining the device -- an "omnicomm"? -- she'd been handed.

Hikari looked around as well, trying to see if there was anyone that she knew here, but so far it looked like once again she was the only person from her world who had come out of their pods.

She blinked though, as she looked over at another young girl. "Hi, I'm Hikari. What's your name?" she asked, moving a bit closer to her. This girl... she seemed just as lost as Hikari remembered feeling that day she had come out of her pod...

Namira had examined the contents of her possession locker with a scowl that would have curdled milk. She'd had dozens of items, whole sets of armor, weapons, herbs a plenty, flasks, odds and ends, all that money, and it was gone. All of it. The only things that remained was her staff, her hairpins, a bag full of her components, a jar of Lady of the Skies kaddis she'd found in the Mage Tower, Hakkar's collar and... the comb she'd bought while they were skulking about in Denerim, right under Loghain's king-slaying nose.

Hakkar whined beside her and Namira knelt to latch the collar around his neck, murmuring softly to him, before they too followed the rest to the Observation Deck.

As no demons had yet leapt from the darkness, and her darkspawn sense wasn't tingling with warnings (yet), Namira had relaxed slightly. She leaned on her staff and packed her things into her aron bag. "Come on, Hakkar," she scratched his head. "They're going to all leave without us, and then how will we find our way around?"

Still, a place like the observation deck was...

Well, there were no words to describe how incredibly small she felt, even in this crowd of people.

It was actually the warhound following this woman that caught Yve's attention. Quickly followed by that familiar feeling that something wasn't quite what it seemed, that she sometimes got when approaching a Warden she wasn't familiar with. It had only happened once, with Riordan, but here it was again.

Frowning a little, she patted the top of Boulder's head and muttered a command for him to be attentive under her breath, before cautiously approaching the strange woman (whom, by Yve's quick assessment, was obviously a mage, at the very least.)

A long-time veteran had found her way back into the pods. It was a inconvenience being gone, but she discovered a far greater one. Just like when she had first been released from the pods, her suit had been taken from her. She pulled out the omnicomm that had been given to her in order to get Stacy to move it to the Precinct armory.

Access denied. She needed to find Chief to reinstate her power as Chief of Security. As soon as possible was preferred.

And he's here. The Chief isn't expecting Samus, so he's not looking for her. He hasn't quite noticed she's here yet.

Still shuddering at the memory of the feel of that slime - disgusting stuff that made him reflexively scratch at the ground with his hind paws, like a cat burying something gross - Arhu bounded up the ramp and into the room.

Ehhif all over the place, and a few other races besides. This was obviously some sort of ehhif gathering place but the odd sensation of living tissue under his paws - and all around him, really - meant that this was definitely somewhere he'd never been before. At least the voice that had spoken to him, Stacy or whatever it was, sounded like a completely different entity. It wasn't like when the Whisperer spoke, a thought that was your own that came from somewhere outside of you.

He shook his head, ears flapping all around him, and peered at the gathered life-forms. Tons of ehhif still, a couple other life forms...were there going to be any People here? The thought that he'd be left alone was not an appealing one. Because if he'd been "Chosen" (again, some part of him pointed out, because he'd already been chosen to take the Oath, and he wasn't giving that up), then Sif'hhah had to be here too. And the rest of the 'gating team.

Rhiow didn't make it a habit to come to podpop, not after the first few had gone by without anyone from her team arriving, but with the rage sickness running rampant on the ship, there were fewer crew members available than normal to explain things to the new arrivals.

The last thing she had ever expected was to catch a familiar scent on Stacy's recycled breeze - a scent she hadn't caught since the Nightmare King. Her heart squeezed painfully behind her ribs as she darted between biped legs, trying to find its source. She spotted a flash of black and white through the crowd and pivoted, running up to the kit and practically bowling him over.

"Arhu," she said, her voice a net of complicated emotions. She tried to say something else but found she was speechless, and settled for washing his ears.

Though Yve felt desperately naked still in the thin plant suit, she had a small measure of comfort in the swords strapped to their rightful places on her back. She'd gone through a great deal of trouble to retrieve Duncan's sword from Ostagar, she had been relieved to find it along with Asturian's Might (one day, she was going to get someone to make her her own damn sword.) Everything else she'd found that had belonged to her hadn't been nearly as much as she had once possessed, but it was enough. Most important among her things likely the pendant she received upon her Joining. Her pack was there, as well, but all that remained were a few odds and ends and the jar of Warpaint of the Tempest for Boulder.

She was a little annoyed, but the pendant and swords made her feel a little more at ease. She'd clipped Boulder's collar on, and then followed the rest of the people out into the odd open area. She exhaled, looking around for a moment, before heading across the room to examine the large statue taking up the entirety of one wall a little more closely. It was unsettling, but it was by far one of the most interesting things in the room.

Reimi had decided to come down to podpop just to make sure that she didn't miss anyone in the crowd.

There were certainly a lot of mixed people this time around, and she slipped past a pair before happening on the woman with the swords and the pet at her side. "Hello," she greeted politely. "Looking at the statues?"

Andy was not particularly in a good mood. Which was an understatement, since he had just found out that his world had been destroyed. And more importantly, he had no way of knowing if anyone else from his world was alive.

Oh, and he was completely alone on this ship as well, of course. Hopefully he'd be able to get some more answers here.

There's a Human saying he'd heard some time ago when about to undergo a possibly risky endeavour. Something about breaking one's leg, although why that is, he has no idea. As it is, Renne intends on keeping all bones intact provided he doesn't flee in his own nervousness.

Ha. He's nervous and he knows this ship. Bloody ironic, that.

As it is, there's a Human-smelling creature within his scent-range, so there he goes, carefully squaring off and moving like he seriously, really needs a bloody cane, toward said smell. And to it, he offers a chirp.

Kang simultaneously enjoyed and hated podpops. It felt good to see when the people he'd come to consider friends found a loved one from home, but he never found one of his own; Tanis and Dalamar were definitely not the same as a fellow draconian. Not to say that he ever gave up hope. It just always proved to be disappointing.

He scanned the crowd, his height giving him an advantage, as he stood with his arms crossed, leaning against one of the walls. Of course, no luck this time.

At the very least, being on the council, he could answer questions for the newcomers, and help direct them to people they knew.

"So, dragon-guy, you been here long?" An obnoxious voice asked from below and behind Kang, sneaky in its approach.

Duo's hands were shoved into his pants pockets, a somewhat-smarmy grin plastered on his face, head just slightly cocked. He figured Mr. Big and Imposing might be a good place to start- if for no other reason than testing out the waters of what kind of people were in this place. He'd sure never met a dragon before, that was for sure- much less a talking one.

Wyn liked podpops, for the most part. She was always open to meeting new people, and she felt obligated to help the new crew members become slightly less confused about what was going on.

She stood near the entrance to the Obs Deck, holding a sign that read "I ANSWER QUESTIONS" above her head. At the very least, she could help point people in the right direction and keep an eye out for anyone she might know at the same time.

Zhiai'kahn wanted answers to her questions... and there was someone holding a sign that claimed to do just that. Well, that was convenient.

"Hello," she said, walking on her hind legs to take herself as tall as possible - even if that was only about three feet. "Could you instruct me as to who is in charge around here?"

Stumbling out of his pod, Shiki was buffeted by the unfamiliarity of his surroundings. The lines were everywhere, drowning out everything else in his vision. Reaching around, he finally finds his glasses and puts them on. Akiha, Ciel-sempai, Kohaku, Hisui, Arihiko, Satsuki and, most importantly, Arcueid. No one was there. Instead, there wee strangers. Shiki's blood boiled from the non-humans, but pulled himself together enough to look for someone who may be able to fill him in on all of the details of what happened

Eva, still just looking around the room fiddling with her communicator to see how it works, notices yet another confused-looking person wandering about. Figuring Marco didn't mean for her to stay in exactly the same position as he left her, she supposes she'll be fine as long as she stays right there on the Obvs Deck and doesn't leave her original position's sight. She knows that the more she stands in exactly one spot, not interacting with other people, the more suspicious she looks.

She walks over to the young man. "Lucky you, you found your eyes. I'm hoping my reading glasses are in the Possessions lockers or this trip in space is going to be a long and blurry one."

One of the members of the crew is keeping an eye on proceedings in the room. He's a little over seven feet tall, entirely encased in a suit of green armor with a mirrored orange-gold visor that completely obscures his face from view.

The Master Chief is doing his usual podpop job, keeping an eye out for problems among the new arrivals. He's also keeping an eye on the old hands for any signs of unusual behavior, in light of the current pathogen situation.

James looked around, expecting to see people from his past. His parents, former coworkers, daughter, Catherine... And yet he could see none of them. In fact, several of the crew were entirely alien- he couldn't imagine his mind ever conjuring up such images. Either the radiation was affecting his brain more than he thought or this was no hallucination. This was real.

He didn't know what to believe.

James approached the armored man. The power armor was neither Enclave nor Brotherhood, but it was more familiar to him than the others. "Excuse me. I am Dr. James Howard. You appear to know what is going on here, and I have some questions."
