Meet-n-Greet
The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.
Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.
There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.
[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Arhu licked his nose once. "That's why ehhif wizards have to be careful not to let anyone know about them. We People are lucky, because we don't have to hide our wizardy."

"Well, y'know," he muttered. "You're not gonna be in danger like that here. And if you need any sort of help, you could always ask me. I'm pretty good at getting people out of trouble."

Hey look, I live. >.>

"I-I c-could teach y-you how ta use it... I've g-gotten decently familiar with the programming... I'm s-sure I won't need a panic button..."
Was that cat really... yes, Alex, it was.

If the cat didn't have a way to manipulate the device, then he wasn't really sure how he could help

After he figured that he'd made his point, he asked, "So what all does this do?"

"I've also made a f-function that lets y-you know when people have put s-somethin' up there by playing wh-whatever sounds you s-set to c-certain people. Some g-girl asked me t-ta make it a while b-back. You n-need ta get various soundbites from the on-board libraries though."

Studying the omnicomm, he proceeded to begin speaking silently to it in the Speech. Obligingly it opened up the network for him, and he began to page through the options.

"Everything alive understands the Speech, the language that wizards work in," he said patiently. "And everything is alive in one form or another, though it may not be life as we understand."

Unfortunately, the look went far over Alex's head. He was used to rat looks, not cat looks. Even then, the humanoid subtle communication of body language was just something Alex didn't have a full grasp on. A person could have given him that look and he wouldn't have known much better. "W-well, there's some other l-little functions, l-like a file viewer an' e-editor." He felt far more comfortable explaining how the things in the device worked.
