Meet-n-Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Thank god his gun had been in his storage locker down in possessions. Chris felt immensely more at ease around here with a weapon on hand, and the holster made him feel a little less awkward about the skintight choice of clothing around here. He noticed some of the other crew members were wearing ordinary clothes. He'd have to go beg one of them for a T-shirt or something later.

He made a mental note to find somewhere to get a cigarette, too.

Chris still looked uneasy as he scanned the crowd for any sign of a familiar face, as unlikely as it was.

Claire had very little desire to be anywhere besides Contagion right now, watching over her daughter. However, people were being ejected from the pods (great timing, Stacy) and with so many members of the crew busy with the whole virus thing or infected themselves, that left precious little on-hand to deal with the new arrivals.

So, Claire tore herself away from Sherry, and made her way up to the Observation Deck. She hung back at the door for a long moment, surveying the scene as well as making sure the door had people watching it to make sure no infected caused problems. She was actually content on sticking right there, until she noticed a familiar head of hair among the others.

"...Chris?" She said quietly, too surprised to move for a moment. Then she remembered she could move, and started through the crowd, pushing and shoving as politely as she could. "Chris!"

He'd know that voice anywhere. Chris turned on his heels and spotted his little sister pushing through the crowd. For the moment, he was too glad to see her to think about what it meant that she was in this place too. "Claire!"

Chris did a little pushing of his own and as soon as he reached her, he threw his arms around her and nearly lifted her off the ground. "God, I'm glad to see you."

For a moment everything that was happening now seemed a little less dire. Her brother was here. He was awake, and safe. She hugged him back fiercely, smiling despite herself.

"Ditto. I was starting to think I'd have to go find you in the pod caverns myself."

[identity profile] boulderkiller.livejournal.com 2010-10-02 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"You might have been in there looking for a while," he reminded her. Boy, was he glad to be out of that creepy place.

Then he held her at arm's length and had a look at her, switching back into Brother Mode. "Are you okay? Did you just get here too?"

Claire shook her head, keeping her hands on Chris's shoulders. She wasn't quite ready to let go of him, yet.

"No. I've been awake for over a year, now."

[identity profile] boulderkiller.livejournal.com 2010-10-02 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"What?"

He squeezed her shoulder as the relaxed expression on his face dropped. "What are you talking about, a year? I just saw you last month. We went to dinner, remember?" Was she not feeling well either?

"Yeaah," she grimaced, shrugging one shoulder. "For all we know, that could've been hundreds of years ago. You've been in like... stasis." She bit her lip, glancing away from him for a second before looking back.

"But I've been out for a year, and you've been sleeping. So... where it's only been a month since you saw me, it's been a year, for me."

[identity profile] boulderkiller.livejournal.com 2010-10-02 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Chris' face told her very clearly what he thought about all this.

"What the hell is going on here?" he muttered. "This is messed up."

"I take it you didn't get the whole rundown," Claire sighed, dropping one hand so she could scratch the side of her forehead.

"Short version? Our universe got destroyed by a bunch of #^&@ed up aliens, and this ship saved our lives, so that we could fight the aliens."

[identity profile] boulderkiller.livejournal.com 2010-10-02 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, I got that much," Chris assured her, and put a hand up to his own forehead. He was getting a headache. "It's just... a lot to take in so quickly."

He let out a heavy sigh, shaking his head and putting his hands on her shoulders again. "If our whole universe is gone, I don't know what I'd do if you weren't here." At the same time, he didn't like the idea of his little sister being drafted into an intergalactic war.

"Are you sure you're all right?"

Sheryl sidled up to the newcomer, hands on her hips. "Enjoying the view?" she teased.

[identity profile] boulderkiller.livejournal.com 2010-10-02 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't know. I can think of a lot nicer locations than this," he replied, though he at least attempted an awkward smile at her. "Are you new here too?"

[identity profile] galacticfairy.livejournal.com 2010-10-02 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"No," she grinned, "so you'll have to work hard to catch up."

[identity profile] boulderkiller.livejournal.com 2010-10-02 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure I'll manage." Chris scanned the crowd again, then looked back to the woman greeting him. "I'm Chris. Chris Redfield."

[identity profile] boulderkiller.livejournal.com 2010-10-02 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's nice to meet you, Ms. Nome," he said. "So you've been here for a while, then? How long?"

[identity profile] boulderkiller.livejournal.com 2010-10-02 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"That long?" Of course, if what he was hearing was true, there was no place to go back to. It made feeling homesick seem kind of... pointless.

[identity profile] galacticfairy.livejournal.com 2010-10-02 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Just until I can get back to Frontier, alright?"

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2010-10-03 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Jr. was great at smiling and staying cool in a crisis-- he'd dealt with enough of them to be used to it. This, however, was something else entirely. So while his tone was friendly, he too looked around the room, and occasionally to the pulsating floor in a sort of awe.

"Lookin' for friends, huh?"

[identity profile] boulderkiller.livejournal.com 2010-10-03 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Chris replied. Damn, there were even kids here. This had to be a thousand times scarier for them. "What about you? Are you gonna be okay by yourself?"

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2010-10-04 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I'll be okay." He managed a smile and straightened his shoulders a bit.

"I'm just-- geez, this is some situation, though."

[identity profile] boulderkiller.livejournal.com 2010-10-04 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
"No kidding."

Chris scanned the crowd again for any sign of somebody he knew... or maybe for any sign of somebody who might be this poor kid's parent. "I'm Chris," he said after a moment. "What's your name?"

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2010-10-04 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
If Jr.'s actual parent was there, it was probably the last person he'd want to find. His stand-in "parent," though, was a different story. He wished Gaignun could be there with him. Technically, his brother Albedo already was, but despite everything they'd been through, Gaignun was the baby of the three. Though all of the public image, the bickering and the joking and the rare relaxing day on the beach and political problems where Jr. could feel Gaignun's frustration seeping through their link, Jr. never lost his big brother stance.

He had followed Chris' gaze with these thoughts in mind, wondering if he'd ever see any of his friends again. When Chris spoke up, he blinked up, snapping out of it.

"Name's Jr. ... Gaignun Jr. It looks like we're gonna have a lot of work to do."
