Meet-n-Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Alex doesn't look pleased at the idea of an army that sucks magic out. Then again, he doesn't like the idea of any invading force, or anyone trying to force people down for no good reason. Too many shadows came of it to ever be worth the effort. "W-well, I'm d-down in engineering a lot. I-if ya e-ever w-wanna stop by, I c-can show y-you a few things. O-or you c-can c-contact me yourself." He briefly explains how to use the comms to write a locked message, slowly.

Aibghalien picked it up almost instantly -- no, that understateed matters. With the most basic grounding in the comm system, Aibghalien deduced most of the rules and mechanisms behind it in a matter of moments. The elf has something of a terrifying intellect; still, he seemed entirely grateful for the basic introduction.

"I'd certainly love to stop by some time... but what's an engineering?"

After all, intelligence never could replace knowledge.

Alex gave him a bit of a funny look before smiling understandingly, "I-it's one of the departments here. We work on electronic, and, well, b-basically a lot o-of technology. S-some people build things, wh-while others, l-like me, p-program them so th-that they work. P-programming i-is sorta like t-teaching. Ya g-give a device r-rules ta follow, and it figures o-out what ta do based on th-those c-commands."

"Ah, so it's just the name. The overall field of this sort of... device?" He took pains to keep his prejudice against technology out of his voice, recognizing it as stemming from the means said technology had, in his experience, been put to, not the field or devices themselves. He still had a little strain when he spoke it...

But the way he took to the omnicomm, it likely wouldn't last.
