Meet-n-Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

She had no reason to trust anyone, but she simply had to stare and marvel at the very imposing looking DRAGON. She looked around her a moment then looked back at Kang. Everyone was conversing and talk along as if nothing extraordinary was happening, and that was when she understood full well that this was not a ruse to trap her. No one would be this pathetically interested in her to recreate a new, strange ass world like this. She shook her head and walked up to Kang.

The height difference was immense, but Mindy was not about to feel intimidated, not when she had to find out more.

"Hello," she said, craning her neck. "I'm trying to find out about this place. I mean, I was told some things by Stacy, but I'm not sure how much is true, and even if it is, what I should do. Could you help me?"

The ten year old child thing is starting to get grating. Now she was just really wanting to fill in the spaces of what she knew.

Tell me if this isn't okay and I'll fix it :D;

Kang wasn't so good with children of other races, but this girl... there was something about her that suggested that she wasn't as innocent as she was acting. The fact that she had approached him without any signs of fear, just curiosity was odd; but, she could also be from a world where humans were used to multiple races.

Strange.

Playing it safe, he knelt down so that he was closer to her level, "To be honest, we're not even sure how much is true. We at least know the Ohm are bad news, though." He wasn't about to lie to a child in this situation.

"Really?" Well that was bad. So even the people here weren't a hundred percent sure they weren't being lied to. So much for hoping the crew of Stacy were united in fighting the alien menace. "So what do people do on this ship, if some of them think this place is doing a freaky mind trip on them? How do they keep sane?"

Not the most childish question in the world but she was SO far from that right now. She needed to know what she was going to be able to do to keep from losing it in this place. "Is it true, what they say about our worlds? That these Ohm things destroyed them?"

They were, at least, united in survival. Well, most of them. And that was an odd question to come from a child. Kang shrugged, "Different things. Some people are doing whatever they did back on their world, or helping out with something new. And, yes. We've fought against them before, defending another planet."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-03 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
She asked it for a reason: Mindy was a schoolgirl back at home, or at least trying to be again. But with the threat of an alien species looming, why the hell would she be doing anything like that anymore? She knew what was going to have to happen then, and coming to that decision, she knew what was down in Weapons lockup even before she opened it. It would be what she wore back on earth before the school girl stuff mattered. She would be Hitgirl again, because what was the point of pretending she wasn't? Why choose her for any other reason?

"How did that go, that whole fight?"

"Badly," Kang said bluntly. "They took us by surprise, and there were just too many of them. For some reason, though, they let us go. We don't know why. I'd bet good steel that after we left, they finished off that planet."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-03 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that was just perfect. Badly? Too many of them? How the hell were they going to survive an enemy that killed that thoroughly? They let them go? There had to be more to it then that. There had to be a reason there, otherwise this enemy made no damn sense.

"Is there any steps we can take to, oh, I don't know, fight them off? Is there any progress there?"

Without realizing it, her voice cracked at the end of that sentence. God, things looked so bleak it was turning her stomach. What was she going to do against an alien species this powerful? Was this ship even united against the aliens attackers, if they were all so different?

"We don't have any control on where we go or what we're supposed to do when we get there; Stacy, the ship, never tells us," Kang shook his head, holding back a snort. "There are a few of us that have been working on training others to fight, and there's other ways to help with the effort. You're not like most children, are you?"

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-04 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"The ship never tells us," Mindy shook her head in disbelief. "So she beams thoughts in our head about being our mommy, but she never tells us the important stuff like how to save our tails? Sounds like a pretty bad parent to me."

But her ears perked up at training. That was something she could use: hell, that was something she would even look forward to, so long as she wasn't Mindy while she was doing them. She didn't want to draw attention to herself that way: from the way she heard it, there were kids here but none of them quite as young or as precocious as her. That would be a problem.

Here she gave him a smirk. "I'm pretty sure I have no idea what you're talking about."
governorkang: (Having fun)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-10-05 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Kang could get to like this girl. Nodding, he did snort this time, "Pretty much. We do what we can to prepare in the meantime."

He grinned back at her and stood up. If she was there, even in costume, he'd know; he had a better sense of smell than humans. "Then I shouldn't expect to see you in Ronon and I's combat class, should I?"

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
"I think somebody'd better," she said, shaking her head. "From what I've heard so far we're a little too relaxed about what's going on so far. I mean, I'm no superhero, but even if I were I'd still be worried. No one can afford to be that sure of themselves."

"Right, I'm not that prone to violence," Mindy lied through her teeth, "but at least knowing that you're around to make sure people are prepared to kill those alien things. Whose this 'Ronan?'"
governorkang: (Neutral)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-10-05 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Trust me, a lot of us are anything but relaxed about this," Kang said dryly. "There's a good number of students in the class, and it grows every time more people wake up."

He had a feeling she was going to be there. "Ronon's a human friend of mine. By the way, my name is Kang."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Good. That put her mind at ease, to a certain extent. At least she knew that there was a place for people who were actually trying to fight against the aliens. Even if there were people who had powers here, according the Motoko that didn't mean they were the brightest crayons in the bunch.

"A human friend," Mindy repeated, and gave a grin. "Looking at the ship, you must have a few of those. Nice to meet you Kang...or Scales, as I heard you called earlier."
