Meet-n-Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"I am 100% human. It's just that I am a human who can kill them if given the opportunity. And from what my body is telling me, there are vampires on this ship."

Briefly removing his glasses, Shiki does a quick glance about the room before putting them back on. His left hand goes to his head as he winces at the headache he now has.

"There are some here right now, but it looks like they are not malevolent so we should be fine. If they were anything like the vampires I am used to, most of the people on this ship would probably be dead."

[identity profile] vissernone.livejournal.com 2010-10-03 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Great. Time to start investing in scarves and neckbraces, then. Just because no one's dead yet means that'll last, though I hear this ship has an anti-violence prerogative."

Eva makes a mental note that they can be killed with knives, instead of the usual stakes and holy water.

"I will put a stop to any o-"

Whatever cool (or cheesy) line Shiki was going to say was interrupted by him collapsing to the floor. Of all the times for an attack, why did his anemic symptoms have to show up now. A proper investigation of his pulse would show that he is perfectly fine, yet any doctor would say he is suffering from anemia.

"Sorry, I figured the attacks were getting less frequent. Well, every vampire is different. Usually to kill one, you need to use some form of conceptual weapon to do so. However, I am the only one that can kill them using anything, and am thus considered a monster."

"Oh!" As son as he collapses, she drops down trying to catch him, but the only first-aid she knows works on Hork-Bajir, whose anatomy and healing factors are different than humans or humanoid vampire-killers. She has no idea what to do and is very much relieved when he speaks again. "Are you alright? Are those deadly?"

[identity profile] shiratokai.livejournal.com 2010-10-04 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
"I am fine. Ever since the accident when I was a child, I have had attacks like that. They have become more frequent but are nothing to worry about."

Despite his front, Shiki realizes just how dangerous it is to be living only off of half of a person's life force, and is relieved since it means Akiha is still alive.

"Well, whatever it is, try not to give it to me if it's contagious," she says, taking a small but subtle step back. "Are they painful?"

[identity profile] shiratokai.livejournal.com 2010-10-04 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's just anemia. Every once in a while I will briefly lose consciousness. There is no pain involved, really. It's just my body being frail, in no way is it contagious."

Shiki found it tough to tell someone that at one point he died and was resurrected by his step-sister giving him half of her life force.

[identity profile] vissernone.livejournal.com 2010-10-04 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's not quite how anemia works on my world, but vampires aren't exactly how the world works on my world, so I suppose you'd know better than I would." She shrugs. "It may not be painful, but I'd suggest staying away from where you could smack your head on a hard edge. There's nothing pleasant about a concussion."

[identity profile] shiratokai.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Well anemia is the deficiency of blood or hemoglobin in your system due to an injury or poor production, it just so happens that mine causes me to feint every once in a while. It is perfectly reasonable that a lack of oxygen can cause that."

Shiki took on the aspect of a student answering his professor, one of the few roles he had been forced to play back on his world.

"In any case, I try. Thanks for the concern. I should probably check out the Medbay at some point in case they have a cure of some sort. It might also give me a chance to look at some mecha."

Shiki's eyes seem to sparkle at the prospects of seeing robots in action.

Eva purses her lips in suspicion, but then just shrugs. Doesn't sound right to her, but she's a politician, not a doctor, and who's to say what goes on with people from vampire worlds? Still, she makes a mental note to be wary of Shiki.

"A mecha - oh. You're one of those. A nerd." She smiles. Her husband's a techie, and while she usually tunes out his long-winded explanations for how radios work and how cool holographic-capable AI is, she can appreciate enthusiasm for the subject. It's nice to see.

[identity profile] shiratokai.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
"What? If it shoots lasers or has a giant drill weapon, that would be so cool."

Eva is clearly in the presence of a closet mecha otaku who has just been placed in a dream situation.

"And I am not a nerd, just an ordinary high school student."

[identity profile] vissernone.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure. And while you're busy convulsing with joy at the mecha, we cool kids will be joining the debate team." The 'cool kids' has an air of self-deprecation, since she's 45. "How old are you, ordinary high school student?"

[identity profile] shiratokai.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
"I am 17. In my second year of high school, so just one more year before I would have to start studying for exams."

Shiki calms down and returns to the matter at hand.

"Besides, I was not convulsing. I was merely appreciating what I can from the present situation."

[identity profile] vissernone.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's called a joke. You know, like 'ha ha, hyperbole'? Didn't you get a sense of humor in your vampire-stabbing kit?" she asks sarcastically. Eva's aware that all she's seen so far indicates that his vampire-stabbing kit is just a knife, but waking up in goo makes her cranky and a bit abrasive.

[identity profile] shiratokai.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Shiki is used to people waking up cranky, especially a black-haired (sometimes red) sister of his.

"Fair enough, So what is your like? Mine was what you would probably consider normal until I was dragged into events concerning vampires about two months ago."

[identity profile] vissernone.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Average. I'm a politician. A behind-the-scenes player, though, I'm not all that fond of the spotlight. There are aliens, but currently relationships are peaceful. I work in interspecies relations." She shrugs. No need to tell him about the brain-stealing parasites, not yet. No need to mention that she was a slave for seven years and is still sorting through the remaining psychological wreckage. "I'm guessing from our location that my world isn't the only Earth that's made alien contact."

[identity profile] shiratokai.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nope. It seems like there are tons of multiverses out there which are now converging."

Shiki shrugs.

"I guess all we can do is live our lives to the fullest despite the circumstances."
