Meet-n-Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"Which branch of the evolutionary line did you pop out of?"

Gabriel's arms are crossed, looking up at the huge, scaly general. Gabe: So small, so fearless, so human and squishy. His tone holds bored interest, even though he has genuine questions to ask at some point.

Kang probably won't get them.

Kang snorted, glancing down at the man, "Probably not one from your world. I'm guessing that you're human; most of the humans that wake up here are from worlds that don't have multiple races, so seeing someone like me is a bit of a shock." Despite his dry tone, he actually preferred it when people didn't react with fear when they saw him.

Then he noticed the sword, and its resemblance to the one that Castiel owned; he could faintly feel the power emanating from it, too.

"...or maybe you're an angel."

Gabriel gave a wry smirk. "I've seen things that would make most human's eyes -and probably yours - explode. Literally," he adds after a moment.

When Kang mentions being an angel, that gets some genuine reaction - a surprised expression that Gabe tries to smooth over.

"Was. Ever since I woke up in this place I haven't been very angelic, or believe me," He gestures to the plant suit, "I'd have chosen something a little more stylish.

"Where'd you learn about angels, Lizard boy?"
governorkang: (o rly bozak)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-10-04 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good. That means you won't be too surprised by some of the things you see while you're here," Kang quirked an eyebrow ridge.

"So you're human now, like Castiel. That's how I know about angels. And call me Kang," he said that last bit with a rustling of his wings, not quite hiding his irritation at the name.

He hated it when people called him a lizard. He looked much more like a dragon; it was akin to calling a human a monkey, or an angel a bird.

[identity profile] ttlytrickster.livejournal.com 2010-10-04 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Gabriel's smile grows wider when he catches that bit of irritation. The nickname is going to stick, sorry Kang. At least until he finds something that needles you more.

"Well, I gotta say, the pod full of jello knock-off was a good starter for that," he says. "Very Alien of your Miss Stacy."

There's a brief pause, and then, deceptively lightly, Gabe asks, "Castiel?"

Like he doesn't know the name, know exactly who the angel is. Play it cool, Gabriel.

Kang frowned slightly, getting a bad feeling from that smile. The Alien reference was lost on him but he mentally shrugged it off, more interested in the fact that the ex-angel was trying to hide his knowledge of Castiel.

"Another ex-angel, with a sword much like yours. He spends a lot of time with Sam and Dean Winchester."

He wanted to see what reaction came from those names before he let on that Gabriel had failed his bluff roll.

[identity profile] ttlytrickster.livejournal.com 2010-10-04 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Gabriel's reaction to their names can best be described as a mixture of annoyance and relieve. Annoyance, because he and the Winchesters are reluctant allies at best; relief, because it means that they didn't die. Maybe there's hope for Kali or the others.

"Can't say I've ever heard of them," he replies, glancing down to the ring on his finger and wondering if it'd be worth trying to call Castiel over the comms. "Betting they're not that fun, though; Castiel has horrible taste."
governorkang: (Having fun)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-10-04 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll be sure to tell them about you being here, when I next see one of them. I'll leave out the comment about Cas having horrible taste, too, even if I disagree," Kang grinned slightly, holding out his hand. "What is your name, by the way?"

[identity profile] ttlytrickster.livejournal.com 2010-10-04 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, he was going to bother them anyway, so Gabriel isn't too horrified at the prospect of someone getting to them before him. But it gives him some motivation to find the guys before Kang does.

"Loki," He says after a moment, taking the proffered hand with a strong grip. One could almost say it's too tight, perhaps trying to make an impression after realizing he has no supernatural strength to back it up now.
governorkang: (The hell is going on / Fucking hangover)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-10-04 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"...isn't that the name of a Norse god?" Kang asked as he returned the handshake, careful to keep his claws away from skin. He remembered Hiccup mentioning the name once, and seeing it in a book in the Media Library.

[identity profile] ttlytrickster.livejournal.com 2010-10-04 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"It is, and that would also be me," Gabriel comments with a small smirk, pulling his hand away. "Not so empowered any more, as you already pointed out."
governorkang: (Looking up)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-10-05 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Odd. Kang shrugged, "Doesn't mean you're powerless, though. I'm sure you've still got a few tricks up your sleeve."

Not knowing Gabriel's nature, he wasn't aware of the irony of that statement.

[identity profile] ttlytrickster.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
"As long as my head is still on my shoulders," Gabe shrugs as well. He sizes Kang up again.

"So where in the multiverse do you hail from, scaly buddy?"
governorkang: (Home / Hatchlings are a handful)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-10-05 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
"The nation of Teyr, on Krynn. I'm currently the only person from my world awake. That I know of, at least," Kang's wings rustled slightly. It was a bit lonely, even with the friends he'd made on the ship.

[identity profile] ttlytrickster.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Can't say I've heard of it," Gabriel replies, though that isn't surprising to the guy, he's sure. "Is that common? Being the only guy awake from your little section of the universe."
governorkang: (Neutral)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-10-05 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Kang snorted. "It's not uncommon. As I'm sure you've noticed, most of the people on this ship are human, and from some version of Earth. Humans aren't unknown to me, though; they lived on Krynn, too."

He paused, "Oddly, the only other two that have shown up from my world were a half-elf and full-blooded elf. They're back in the pods now, I believe."

[identity profile] ttlytrickster.livejournal.com 2010-10-05 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
"So basically, it's a crapshoot," Gabriel says flatly. It would figure his luck to dump him here with both Winchesters and Castiel, and him without even a modicum of his Grace.

"Wait - back in the pods?" Now Gabriel openly lets his curiosity show.
governorkang: (Sons-of-bitches command face)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-10-06 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Pretty much. The thing that annoys me most is that Stacy either doesn't have records of who's in the pods, or is unable to access them," Kang said, muttering a curse in Nerakese under his breath. "All any of us can do is hope we see someone we know during times like this."

He paused, unsure of how to explain it. "It's got something to do with people's souls, and keeping them from falling out."

[identity profile] ttlytrickster.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
"That's bad data management right there," Gabriel says, arching another brow. And then the soul thing comes up, and he frowns before shaking his head.

"If I was still powered, I might be able to help you there. But I'm not. I don't know how jello relates to keeping souls in, but I'll have to take yours - and Stacy's - word for it right now."
governorkang: (What / This is stupid)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-10-08 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Understatement," Kang said dryly. "I don't like having so little information to work with. I'd bet steel the case is that she can't access them. She's been damaged, and I can't think of any reason there wouldn't be records. And, I don't quite understand the souls thing either, but at least when it happens, we know those people aren't dead."

[identity profile] ttlytrickster.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe there's a techie guy that could work on repairing her or something," Gabriel says, then rolls his eyes. "I'm sure there is, and I'm sure I'm saying something that's already been done or is being done."
governorkang: (Having fun)

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-10-11 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Kang nodded, "There are people working on it. I've no idea how much progress has been made, though."
