Newbie Meet n' Greet

For the newbies, there are people waiting for them in the Obs Deck. A whole gaggle of people. Behind them is the nasty statue, and the beautiful sight through the windows of the stars streaming past and the swirling vortex of collars that was interdimensional travel.

There are more questions than answers, but the crew is willing to help, especially the Command Staff and greeters.

Wednesday is actually prepared this time, for once—near the entrance to the Obs Deck, he's set up a big, crude wooden sign with an arrow pointing inside and 'THIS WAY PLEASE' carved into it.

As people shuffle by, he momentarily interrupts to ask name, age, and any professional specialties... if they care to actually tell him.

Selene looked over at the man when he asked her for the basic information. "Selene Jones, 24, and....well, I'm a barmaid? I'm pretty good at mixing drinks," she said, tapping her chin in thought. Yeah, she wasn't gonna mention her powers until she was sure it'd be fine. They were rather dubious in morality when she thought about it, let alone when others did.

Selene stepped onto the Obs Deck, looking around. Her eyes were drawn to the window, staring in surprise. Now that....that was NOT normal travel. In fact, the only thing close she's seen was when they were hopping through time and even then it wasn't quite the same.

Then there were the people. All of them in the really, really creepy feeling suit, and most were seemingly. However, there were a good enough number that weren't and...was that a raptor over there? If Selene didn't know better, she would think this was a dream. However, it wasn't. She knew it wasn't, it didn't feel like one. It just looked like one.

....now that she thought about it, she was kind of glad no one was around when she first woke up. Not freaking out about this might not have been a normal thing, but she supposed there was enough time that it would be assumed she'd calm down. Not like weird things didn't happen back home where not even Apex City was safe anymore.

Selene ventured further in, looking around at the people. Now who would be the best person to talk to about what was going on?

As Chris had heard the commotion before, and decided to check if anyone new had come through recently. As he entered, he looked around for someone to see if he could help them. He spied a woman looking lost, like he had been once.

"Hello. Are you okay?" Not the best thing to say to a stranger but he hoped he sounded sincere.

Red Snout is hanging around the Obs Deck to watch the newcomers, preening and looking smug with himself. All humans, to whom he is obviously superior. One day soon he will challenge their leader and he, Red Snout, will be in charge. Yes. He snorts, side stepping and tilting his head as new arrivals file past. Foolish, weak humans.

"Red Snout!" another raptor appears. Sharp Tongue makes a beeline for her tribemate. She seems more than slightly annoyed, but that's the way Sharp Tongue usually is.

There's a kid here. A boy. Not a little boy, but definitely a child.

Vega wanders over to the huge obs deck windows and watches the stars smearing past, then he works his way around the edge of the room to look up at the big, disturbing statue.

So, there's probably a kid weaving his way past saying "Excuse me, excuse me!" Feel free to stop him.

Having heard that there's going to be new arrivals on the obs deck, Jamie's made his way there with everyone else. Though he'll never admit it out loud - and in fact doesn't really want to admit it to himself - he hopes he'll see someone he knows among the crowd of newcomers.

And...he does, surprisingly enough. Or at least he thinks he does; Jamie's never met the guy in person, and it's been over three years since he last saw so much as a picture of him, but that kid looks distressingly like the Backdraft's sociopath-in-training child prodigy.

Jamie frowns, debating with himself internally for a few moments, and then decides it won't hurt to check and see if his suspicions are correct. He makes his way over to where the boy is getting acquainted with the Creepy Statue, which he himself spares only a brief glance.

"...hey," he says after a brief pause. His tone isn't hostile, precisely, just guarded and a little suspicious. "You, uh. You look like someone I know from home. Where're you from?"

Not the smoothest of introductory lines, but hopefully safe enough - and if he ends up looking like an idiot, well, it won't be the first time.

Aside from the rather horrific looking statue--which Jackson would probably find fascinating for some reason or another--the sight of the stars blazing by the large windows was one of the more reassuring sights he'd seen since waking up on the ship. Space, he's done. If they were moving, they could move back toward Earth--or if this place was dangerous, he might be able to contribute to keeping it far away from Earth.

Either way, the space travel was oddly grounding, amidst the rest of the foreign atmosphere of the ship. Not that he couldn't do with a few more answers about where this place was, and exactly what 'purpose' he was supposedly to be meant for here, as well.

Just now, he contented himself with staying near the edges of the deck, and observing the others milling about.

John Crichton strolled out onto the Orbs Deck. As with most things, he did not do so quietly.

"Hey, Stace, would it kill ya to start serving food at these things?"

Harvey, taking up his position over John's shoulder -- cartoon devil with a leather fetish -- grinned. "Talking to yourself, John? They say that's the first sign of insanity."

"Yeah, and talking to you is the second so shut your trap and leave me alone, Mr. Grinch."

For once, Harv got the message. Triumphant, John continued on his meandering path through the crowd, one hand toying absently with Winona's grip. He was trying, and failing, to look casual. Like he wasn't searching for a familiar face, any face, hell, he'd take Crais at this point, just, please, somebody --

There. By the wall. There was somebody.

"Oh, no," John moaned, heading towards the man, his steps speeding up until he was almost jogging across the deck. "Oh, no, no, no. No!" He cried, as soon as he was close enough to be sure, completely sure. A flick of his wrist and Winona was undressed, indecent, pointing at the guy's face. John wasn't about to take any chances. "No, this is -- this isn't funny, guys, come on! All the people in the universe and I get you?" He laughed, high-pitched and weird. Tightened his grip on his pulse pistol. "This just isn't right."

The ship's second velociraptor is in the room. Sharp Tongue is at a complete loss as to what to do. All these humans have her twitchy. If you watch her, you'll see her tapping the big killing claws on her feet against the floor. It's a nervous tic.

She instinctively drifts to the edge, saying nothing and watching like a hunter. At least she does not seem aggressive, mostly concerned with maintaining a healthy personal space between herself and any pinkskins.

Tap, tap, tap.

You know, Lois has seen a lot of weird things, but most of those weird things were "people who could do x creepy thing," not "dinosaurs living and breathing, instead of being sixty-five million years of dead before winding up in her convertible's gas tank."

And here's a freakin' dinosaur, straight out of Jurassic Park, the major difference being this one isn't trying to maul them all for shits and giggles.

So Lois can't help but stare, both disturbed, awed, and a bit afraid. What the hell, dinosaur. What the hell.

Ghani stands off the the side, well apart from the other beings who had gathered in the strange room. She might have stood apart, but she still held herself regally with her chin slightly raised as her fremen blue within blue eyes slowly took in the sites around her.

She takes a deep breath, her fingers automatically curling around the handle of her Crysknife. She manages to calm her racing heart, it wouldn't do to show any sort of weakness in this place.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me....." She whispers to herself, and relaxed a little - feeling more at ease for the time being.

"Thy fear is obvious when one holds thine weapon," Pirogoeth commented upon approaching Ghani. "Despite the oddity of the place, this meeting should not have any harm on you unless something unforseen occurs," she added, gentling her tone a bit. It's certainly not a tone one would call comforting, but it's not as cold or distant as she usually is.

She does want to help, after all. And getting the the one whose fingering a weapon to relax a bit was definitely something that should be done to make the situation better.

Okay, Kira is... surprisingly calm, given the situation. At least outwardly. He's on some sort of spaceship with technology that far outpaces anything he's ever seen before. It seems to be alive, sentient, and telepathic, and utterly alien. Tentacles had dressed him in a suit that seemed to be made out of some sort of plant - at the very least, it too was alive.

Sure, he'd known that there was life beyond the Earth Sphere (the fossil of the space whale had proven that, hadn't it?) but... to be confronted with something like this? It was hard to accept.

More importantly, he doesn't see anyone he recognizes anywhere, and his heart sinks at the thought of leaving Lacus alone.

For the moment, though, he'll just be sort of ... staring openly at the starscape. He's seen space before, but nothing that even remotely resembled this.

"It's certainly beautiful, isn't it? Definitely not what I'd imagine my first space traveling jaunt to be," Selene said, walking up beside Kira to stare out the window. Well, okay, this wasn't her first time, but she had every intention to let everyone think she was a barmaid who could just adjust to the weird.

Still, it wasn't like her other travels and it was definitely beautiful. She'd never even seen anything quite like it, even in dreams.

Arha moved warily, her eyes flicking from the stature to the stars to the people gathered, ready for a fight if necessary. Her fingers curled around her set of crysknives, white-knuckling them until she forced herself to relax. She could find no familiar face, no one from Sietch Tabr, no one she knew. There were voices in her m ind, lingering still, the Other Memory lingering and strong as she leaned into the wall.

If it was a wall.

The statue was...odd.

The stars were odd.

This place was wrong.

Arha stood with her arms crossed and studied the scene with a hard sort of determination. There was no reason she had to like anything about this.

"I think we all wish we were back home," Chris murmurs, his body language soft and unhappy. Still, there's something off about him, perceptibly-but-imperceptibly wrong in a way that refuses to pin itself down to any cause in particular.

While usually energetic and cheerful, Doc knew he should be a little careful. He wondered if anyone he knew from the Red and Blue teams were here. He also absently wondered if there were any computers to maintain a blog on this ship.

Hey, it's a familiar voice! It's coming from that guy on one of the couches that looks like he's been beaten up recently. Probably because he has.

Pulsing, throbbing. Unseen music wasn't new to her, but she couldn't figure out the pulse of this ship.

She was on an abomination. She was far from Arrakis or Chapterhouse. She had no idea where she would find more Spice....She had to portion off bits of herself in Zensunni no-mind to process all this information.

Sheeana moved through the people as if in a daze, listening for familiar accents and languages, scanning eyes for blue-within-blue.

Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a flash of blue-within-blue and turned as if pulled. Fremen. Someone from home. She stifled the leap of hope and stilled herself, composed, if inwardly wobbly and tingling from the water of life that still moved through her system.

It felt as if she were aware of everything and everyone, but especially the woman her eyes had just found. The abomination she now stood on was all but forgotten, though she remained connected to it.

There were a lot of people in the room. Not a problem really, but there were more people than she was expecting to find, and none of them were the one she was looking for.

So she used her powers to prevent them from seeing her enter the room, and then flew up to hide in the shadows of the creepy statue.

She'd come out when she knew it was safe.

Brainy comes flying into the room, immediately looking around, looking--is that excitement? Is he actually enthused, after getting that buzz on his comm-ring?

Or maybe it's fear. It might be hard to tell for some of the others.

Yoshimi moves through the groups of people, reaching out to tap a window with her short, bitten nails. The space zooming past mystifies her, and she can't even begin to fathom the situation she is in right now.

"What in all holy hell is going on?" she asks the room at large, turning to look back at her fellows in confusion, blinking slowly. She thinks pathetically that she misses her cat amidst this morass of strangers and proceeds to shove her hair out of her face. It refuses to cooperate, insisting instead on hanging long, straight, and pink, resolutely in her face.

"Happy day," she mutters darkly, leaning against the window behind her, arms crossed on her chest.

"Alien abduction, pinky. The usual hustle and bustle of yoinking people from their times and dimensions of origin without their permission," says a somewhat tall, muscular boy with black hair, leaning against a wall with his arms crossed. "Consider yourself Yoinked."

A familiar shock of pink hair catches the corner of eye, and Kira freezes. It's unmistakable.

There's suddenly a surge of elation in his heart - she's here. They wouldn't have to be separated; he wouldn't have to worry about whether or not she was missing him... though the joy was tinged by the knowledge that Lacus Clyne, too, seems to be stuck here. Kira wouldn't wish that on anybody, let alone her.

But they're together, at least.

He takes a few hesitant steps toward her, almost as if he's afraid she'll up and vanish like a mirage. "...Lacus?"

Violated was too mild of a word to ascribe to the dressing process. Lam rubbed at her hair, missing her lab coat already as her eyes swept the throng of people in front of her. The statue loomed, but it was to the windows she was drawn.

This was space.

She was in space, she thought, and her fingers hesitantly reached out toward the view.

Kira noticed the woman standing beside him, looking out at the starfield. She looked so enthralled by the view - and even he, who had spent years in space, had to admit it was quite the spectacle - that it left no doubt in his mind that this was her first time ever in space.

He thought about saying something... but then decided better of it. He didn't really know her, after all, and he shouldn't just intrude like that.

After the affirmation that she was in some bad science fiction movie, Claire wandered off around the chamber. She habitually avoided anything that looked like it might eat her, and made her way over to one of the unoccupied windows. Hesitantly she looked out, seeing nothing but space. No flying space whales, at least.

Frowning a little, she fussed with the elastic band she'd recovered from the few personal effects she'd apparently had on her at the time of her abduction, turning away from the view to pull her hair back into her signature ponytail. This was all entirely too bizarre, and she decided she was just not going to think too hard about it.

Leon was there, helping to do a headcount of the new arrivals, but stopped when one of those heads was entirely too familiar.

For a moment, he had mixed emotions about this. On the one hand, she was definitely a sight for sore eyes. On the other hand, she was stuck in the middle of another nightmare with him. Again. But all things considered, the joy over seeing her again won out.

He shook his head, and walked over to her.

"We really have to stop meeting like this..."

Snake was in reasonably better spirits by the time he found himself in the Obs Deck. After all, he got his belongings back. Not that he couldn't have found new equipment on his own but... a new pack of smokes? Sometime told him those would be a little harder to come by.

He slipped an unlit cigarette between his lips, "Somebody clue me in on what's going on?"

Mei Ling is so excited to see someone familiar on the ship it's not even funny. Well, it's a little funny to see her jogging across the Obs Deck to meet him.

Nate was in considerably better spirits. Or at least what passed for better spirits with him. He kept his expression neutral as he walked into the Obs Room. The assorted people (and aliens, and talking dinosaurs) were enough to make him raise a brow but that was probably as far as he would go to betray his complete and utter loss for words.

Seeing someone who looked like they could be in charge, he waited until the person was within earshot of the wall he was leaning against before speaking up.

"I assume someone knows more than us 'newbies' about this ship? I would appreciate it if I could get it all explained nice and clearly."

Don't mind him, being a jackass runs in the genes.

Cassie was scanned the crowd for anyone familiar but she was especially looking for her father.

For a moment it was like time stopped and when it resumed her heart pumped faster than it ever had before.

She had never expected to see him.

With a great deal of curly red hair, a woman just barely topping five feet manages her way into the room, somehow avoiding Mr. Wednesday and his questions in order to better observe what is going on here.

Since she's not really speaking to anyone right away, the way she moves is likely of some interest to someone; while Diana doesn't exactly hide she does blend in, even with the massive confusion. Manages to avoid most actual physical encounters and knows enough to not stand at either the edge or the center of the room.

In fact, Diana keeps moving. So does the large metal bracelet taking up half of her right arm.

However, someone does notice her eventually. Captain Kirk is threading through the room, stopping to talk to people and introduce himself. The young (small) woman with the bright red hair finally catches his attention and he stops to introduce himself with a smile and a handshake, "Hello there and welcome aboard. I can't say we have all the answers, but I'll do my best to help you with anything. I'm Captain James T. Kirk, acting First Officer."

Kira sees the girl watching the other newcomers like him, but doesn't say anything - she seems to be less confused and stunned by the whole situation. Maybe she was here before them?

The moment she'd sensed people were around, Princess Projectra had brought her powers of illusion into use. After all, she was a royal, if even a dethroned one. The last thing she would let herself do is look like a commoner.

Still, she walked into the room, arms crossed around herself, toying with the necklace that wasn't an illusion, looking for a familiar face.

There was, unfortunately, none to be found.

She kept a straight, cold face though. Princess simply did not break down in public.

As soon as she had a moment, Projectra was determined to speak with the person in charge of this...wherever she was.

Kirk takes note of the particularly grim-faced young woman and walks over to offer his hand and a polite smile, "Hello miss and welcome aboard. I'm Captain James T. Kirk, acting First Officer. I can try to answer your questions and if you have any concerns, don't hesitate to bring them to me."

Picard stood slightly off to the side of the throng, waiting for any who might wish to introduce themselves to him. That didn't mean he wasn't walking up to the occasional person to introduce himself as well, but with the Kirk taking care of introductions, he thought it better to merely let people come to him at times. There was no sense in overwhelming everyone by having the two commanding officers both introduce themselves to someone and drag them into a conversation.

His eyes darted over the small crowd, taking in the arrivals. Most were very young. He'd gotten used to that, but Picard had to admit, it was getting old. "So young. Too young, many of them," he mused to himself.

He'd seen a few familiar faces now, although the answers he had managed to scrounge up were dwarfed by the remaining questions, they had gotten him moving a bit more. He couldn't find all his answers in just one spot, clearly.

That said, when he was hoping for friendly, familiar faces with answers, the man standing a short distance from the mass of people was not quite what he'd had in mind. In fact, he stood still for a short while in the milling crowd, just to make certain that the face was not a trick of light or a illusion rooting from a brief glimpse.

Unfortunately, given the time discrepancy between himself and Dr. Jackson, and the identical uniforms given by the ship, all the staring in the world would not allow him to ascertain if the man was...a hapless actor or somehow, like the other him, drawn across universes.

In the end, there was only one way to determine that answer, and that was to approach the man and see for himself. Whether the man was speaking to himself, or to someone unseen, was uncertain. "The ship could probably use a bit more discretion in who it abducts." He just left off the 'sir', to be careful, but it was there...hanging unspoken in the air for one expecting it to notice. Or, perhaps only those familiar with his speech patterns. It could have just been a painful force of habit on his part.

Marcus had to admit, things were slightly better than they had been a couple of days ago. The lack of things trying to kill him had something to do with it. Some of the people in the room seemed to have an idea of what was going on, at least, which was a nice change. However, he was still extremely unhappy about... well, everything, to be honest. Kyle and Star were still probably trapped within Skynet, and he couldn't do a thing about it. Still, he clung to the hope that they had been kidnapped with him, and while here didn't seem much better than the future he had just left, there were significantly fewer killer robots around. (Except him, but he was really trying not to think about that.) He stood near one of the walls, watching the new arrivals intently, hoping to see either of the two.

"You looking for something?" Dani asked, appearing in front of his view, looking at him from an upside down view. Since she was floating upside down in front of him.

Now all set with his mask and swords, Deadpool was ready for anything. Including hordes of people to 'greet' and 'enjoy himself' with. Of course, Deadpool never did like being the dead of the party, so he decided to shout at the top of his lungs to get everyone's attention temporarily.

"GREETINGS MORTALS! BEHOLD, YOU ARE IN ZE PRESENCE OF ZA DEADPOOL!" It seemed like a booming italian voice fit this moment best.

That should be enough to let everyone know he was here.

Well, Wyn's attention has definitely been gotten. "... hi!" she says brightly after a tiny pause, giving the new guy a slightly baffled look. "You're new, aren't you." Despite the phrasing, this isn't a question, as she'd have remembered the mask. And the katana. And the yelling.

Duncan was staying to the edges, quietly observing as he so often did. He felt no buzz among the newcomers, which was a good thing. If this ship could pull so many, might it eventually pop out someone he didn't want to see again? He hated the thought of someone like Horton or Kronos coming aboard.
