Newbie Meet n' Greet

For the newbies, there are people waiting for them in the Obs Deck. A whole gaggle of people. Behind them is the nasty statue, and the beautiful sight through the windows of the stars streaming past and the swirling vortex of collars that was interdimensional travel.

There are more questions than answers, but the crew is willing to help, especially the Command Staff and greeters.

Projectra nods as she takes the information in. "And we either are, or we are in league with the first race, I presume," she says.

"Both quite possible," Picard replied, his eyes now definitely revealing his more mischievous nature, "or we could be yet another random factor: the fourth element in this mix. Until the Science crew can get more information from Stacy, we're somewhat stuck on supposition and theory."

Projectra nodded. "Perhaps if Brainiac 5 were here, he would be able to help the science crew out," she said. "Unless, of course, all he did here was the same thing he did at home - try to bring Dream Girl back to life." She paused and it dawned on her that perhaps Picard wouldn't know who Brainiac 5 was. "He was a teammate of mine," she explained. "With...I believe it was twelfth level intellect, though if he was merely being boastful, I couldn't tell. He was quite intelligent, though, if also quite a bit obsessive."

"I'm quite aware of both Brainiac 5s," Picard replied, a knowing and cryptic smile on his face.

"I'm grateful for the explanation, however."

Princess Projectra wasn't often caught off-guard, and when she was, she wasn't much pleased about it.

This was one of those moments.

"You will pardon me, I'm sure. What do you mean you're aware of both Brainiac 5s?"

"There are two Brainiac 5s here; both are from different realities. One is a cybernetic organism, the other is organic," Picard replied. He found he had to pretend very hard not to enjoy putting one over the egotistical young woman. Much as she annoyed him, the last thing he needed was for her to know hat he was subtly trying to antagonze her, if only to drive home the fact that her title and self-entitled nature wouldn't serve her at all on the ship.

"I can have them meet you, if you wish."

Be thankful she's not a telepath, Picard. She looked him evenly in the eye and thought about this for a moment. "I suppose it wouldn't be the worst thing to hold court with them," she said. "They would, after all, be able to help me get my bearings around here." That is, if either one of them was her Brainy.

Why were there two Brainiac 5s? Did she want to know?

"Though I hardly think putting up with a supposedly twenty-four level intellect will be much fun."

"I'll have them meet you on the Observation Deck after this is all over. If that's all right with you."
