She would probably be the only one who could read his expressions, since he actually displayed them around her. He was extremely guarded with everyone else, but he didn't have to be with her. He trusted her that much.

"Nothing is ever that easy," he told her, "Which is par for the course, considering the way our lives have been."

"Of course," she sighed, shaking her head. "Although I'm not sure what the lesser evil is, here. Zombies or kidnapping space ships." She was almost inclined to lean towards zombies. She knew what she was dealing with, there. Granted once you got into the experiments that was another matter completely, but she was also largely unaware as to what dangers this ship might present.

Aside from creepy tentacles.

"I'd lean towards zombies. At least then I know I can solve my problems with enough firepower." Not that he was lacking for weapons or ammo at the moment. "Things here can be just as dangerous, but require a bit more finesse to deal with, and that's just in terms of dealing with the rest of 'the crew' here. We haven't even begun to deal with whoever else is in charge of this ship."

Hell, they didn't even know there was a 'whoever else' until a couple of weeks ago.

"Sounds like fun," She smirked a little, crossing her arms loosely over her stomach. Tilting her head slightly to the side her smile faded and she looked thoughtful for a moment.

"It doesn't surprise me that you're right in the middle of it." Her smirk was back after that.

He had to laugh a little. "That's because sitting on the sidelines is no fun. But, yeah, I'm part of crew security, so I'm smack in the middle of everything." And then some.

He shrugged with his eyebrows, and a grin played on his lips. "Of course, now with you around, everything is ninety percent more likely to explode."

Claire frowned, her crossed arms tightening a little and she rolled her shoulders back in a slightly defensive manner. She realized things did blow up quite literally in her face a lot, but since joining TerraSave her track record had gotten better. Slightly.

"Need I remind you that last time I was the one trying to stop the self-destruct before you got yourself killed?" So it hadn't really worked the way she'd expected it to, she'd tried, at least.

"Alright, I'll give you that one." Though he wasn't going to mention the explosion that happened before he even got to the research center. Largely because, up until he finally found her and got her out of there, he had been worried sick about her.

"Though you still can't explain what happened to that one DVD player you had."

Claire opened her mouth like she was going to say something, but then realized she didn't have anything to say against that and closed it again. She twisted her lips to the side before uncrossing her arms and reaching out to shove his shoulder lightly.

"Okay, fine. Keep me away from electronics and cooking appliances." It was a bad idea for a Redfield to be in a kitchen anyway, but Claire was especially deadly around microwaves.

He put his hands up in surrender. But, despite the fact he had a feeling they were going to have to put her explosive potential to good use sometime very soon, the smile never left his face. He hadn't had a chance to be this ~~annoying~~ loose and relaxed in some time.

"But if I ever need to find the find the Self-Destruct, you're the first person I call."

"Well, glad I'm useful for something," She was grateful for the lighter conversation. The situation at hand was weird and the ability to not have to be completely serious about it was important. Otherwise she'd probably start thinking too hard about it, and get worried.

"Hopefully you're not planning on tracking down the self destruct on this thing, quite yet though. I have a feeling that'd go down like Titanic."

"Not quite yet. I'd at least like to try to find a way home first." But if all else fails, blow shit up. Its the Resident Evil way.

"Have you had a chance to look around at everything yet?"

"You mean there's more than the goo chambers and this room here?" She gestured around with her hands, arching her eyebrows in mock surprise. It might say something about her mental state that she was still capable of being sarcastic after waking up on an alien space ship, but some people coped with the weird differently.

And Claire had never been the type to go all weak in the knees in the face of the unknown.

"You know, you wouldn't think so by looking at it," he started, rolling along with her sarcasm, "but there's lots more on this ship.

"We have, uh..." he started ticking items off on his fingers, "the slop dispenser, where you can eat stuff that tastes like shit but someone manages to keep your mouth minty fresh; the media library, which seems to be the result when wkikpedia, youtube, ebook publishers, and netflix got merged into one; and, of course, the one thing no ship should ever be without, the Vatican. 'Cause, apparently, even in space, we still need Jesus." Despite his lightly sarcastic tone, he was actually serious about that. Though he didn't think she'd believe him until she saw it for herself.

"We should get you set up with an omnicomm and a few other things while we're about." He didn't mention weapons specifically, largely because he was unsure if she wanted any. She had put away the guns when she joined TerraSave, and he respected that decision. Plus she did have him to protect her.

Claire made no verbal comments as he listed off what else was on the ship, but the looks on her face ranging from vaguely disgusted to skepticism pretty much said everything that needed to be.

"I'm guessing other things wouldn't be clothes that don't move." She'd noticed that he, and everyone else for that matter, were all matching with the creepy uniforms. It made her wonder where exactly their clothes had gone, because she hadn't seen them when she'd picked up her personal effects.

"I wish." Leon was very aware of the pulsing of the plant suit. He couldn't not be. He still hadn't gotten used to it, and he never would.

"As soon as I find a decent pair of pants, I'm burning this thing."

"I've only been in this thing all of twenty minutes and I'd already be more than happy to share that sentiment." Claire grinned, glancing down at the suit. She just wasn't used to looking like she belonged on Lost in Space, although she supposed it applied.

"I kind of wonder what happened to our clothes. I mean, I managed to hang onto my elastic and my brother's lighter but a t-shirt and a pair of jeans is a bit much?"

"Stacy tends to refer to us as her crew," he stated, as he pulled at his plantsuit a little. "I'm guessing these are our uniforms."

It was bad enough he lost another jacket, but now his pants too...

"At least its less worse than wandering around naked... though you'll find some people on the ship that would disagree."

Claire looked over the people gathered throughout the room before looking back at Leon. She smirked slightly, and shook her head.

"There aren't people actually wandering around naked, are there?" While she wasn't a prude by any means, there were limits to things she was cool with, and a reason she'd always sat out of trips to nude beaches when she'd been in a locale that had that kind of attraction. Typically the people who wanted to be naked in public were exactly the type who shouldn't be.

"Yeah, there's a 'team naked' running around." He shook his head at the idea. "Fortunately they still cover up with something, usually a drape or a blanket. And that's only because there are a few kids trapped here with us."

Well, a lot of kids, really, as a good chunk of the crew was still under voting age, but there were a small handful of little ones about.

Claire would've commented on the nudity, but at the mention of children her entire demeanor changed.

"There's kids here?" her brown furrowed and the idea of kids being pulled into this kind of situation was obviously upsetting to her.

He nodded his head. "Yeah, three girls: Dani, Yuri, and Will." He had a faint feeling that he was forgetting someone, but he had made it a point to go over names repeatedly. "Don't know if there were any in the newest group of releases, though." He hadn't noticed any so far, at least.

"Everyone is trying to look out for them, and we're doing our best to keep them out of harms way, but there isn't any one specifically responsible for them."

Claire frowned, one hand coming up to rest against the underside of her chin while she thought this over. "What kind of sick freak would..." she muttered, before she looked at Leon again.

"How old are they?"

He decided to leave out the fact that those weren't ordinary kids. She'd figure that out soon enough upon meeting them, though. Which, if he had to guess, was probably going to be soon.

"They're all roughly the same age, about eleven or twelve."

"Jesus," Claire breathed, shaking her head. "But they're okay? Nothing severely traumatic? ...Besides the obvious." She knew Leon wouldn't leave kids to their own devices unless there was a damn good reason if there was a chance of something happening to them. Still, she was worried. It was a large part of her job, watching after emotionally troubled children, so she slipped into the role sometimes without even thinking about it.

He could tell how worried she was getting. He put a hand on her shoulder to try and comfort her a little. "Relax, they're fine." And if they weren't, he'd be doing something about it. "They're even handling a lot of this craziness better than some of the teenagers and other adults here."
