Newbie Meet n' Greet
For the newbies, there are people waiting for them in the Obs Deck. A whole gaggle of people. Behind them is the nasty statue, and the beautiful sight through the windows of the stars streaming past and the swirling vortex of collars that was interdimensional travel.
There are more questions than answers, but the crew is willing to help, especially the Command Staff and greeters.

Kira looked a bit, well... more puzzled than anything at the 'kids' remark. "...you don't look like you're that much older than I am."
no subject
"I'm twenty-four. You look....maybe seveteen?" Selene said, looking at Kira closely.
no subject
"Eighteen - you were close." Okay, well, then she was older than him. Even if it wasn't by that much. "...But I think it'd be hard to be alone, no matter how old you were."
no subject
"It's a technique you have to prefect as a barmaid," Selene said with a wink. "I can usually get within a year. But I suppose you have a point. I just have a soft spot for kids. It doesn't seem fair to throw their life around when they have normal, every day stresses they're still adjusting too."
no subject
And yes. Normal, every-day stresses, Selene. Kira nods, though... will pointedly not be saying anything about his past occupation as a pilot. "Anybody can feel alone, though. No matter how old." He looks up at her. "So you work in a bar, then? That must be interesting."
no subject
Selene nodded. "I know, but it just seems wrong with people so young," she said. Probably because she distanced herself from others when everything else was pretty much falling apart in her life plan while making sure she was walking in her body and not out of it.
"It got really interesting the past year. We have heroes passing through now who like to stop by. So I get to hear about a lot of strange and cool stuff," Selene said. "What about you? Got any college plans or anything? Still got high school in your world, right?"
no subject
When Selene asked about his plans, though, Kira looked momentarily uncomfortable - something that she could probably pick up on, if she were perceptive enough. "Ah... I used to study computer science at Heliopolis," he shifts. "But now I mostly help Lacus take care of children at an orphanage."
no subject
Selene caught it well enough. She raised an eyebrow. "So...how did you get from point A to point B?" She asked, watching him a bit closer now that she noticed something was wrong.

"...how long have you been working at your bar?"
That was a totally smooth and not obvious change of subject at all.
no subject
"Smooth, by the way. Fine, I won't pry. For now, but I make no promises. I'm the therapist type of barmaid," Selene said with a wink. "So don't let it get you down too much or I might have to be nosy."
"But to answer your question, three years. Pretty much the day I turned twenty-one."
no subject
"Do you like it there?"
no subject
She paused at the question. "I....don't dislike it," she said. She hated lying when she didn't have too. And the truth was, she was more there to try and help people because of her own hate for what she served. "But it's normal. At least until giant spiders started popping up," she said with an amused grin.

Kira frowned. "You can still work toward it, can't you? If you want to help people, you should be able to."
no subject
"I'm heading for that, but I don't exactly make a lot at the bar. It'll be another five years until I have enough money saved up to try and get the credits I need, and that's going with the beans and rice plan," she said with a sigh. "But I'm not gonna give up yet. Just gonna be a while."
no subject
Then, though, he managed to turn it into a half-smile. "If you really want it, then... you shouldn't give up. You want to help people with their problems. That's really kind of you."
no subject
Selene paused, looking embarrassed for a moment. "Well...I figure it's something people need. Everyone has problems. And it hurts others when they aren't solved as well as them," she said in a softer tone.
no subject
He looked up at her, nodding. "You're right. Even if people think they're strong to deal with their problems themselves... sometimes you just need someone to talk to."
no subject
"Exactly. And I find the best places to get people to without being very close, personal friends is either to be paid to talk to, or when people don't care enough to go drink," Selene said. Well, dreams were good too, but that was her secret.
no subject
Kira nodded again. "So this is your way of being a therapist until you can get your license? That's pretty smart."
