Newbie Meet n' Greet

For the newbies, there are people waiting for them in the Obs Deck. A whole gaggle of people. Behind them is the nasty statue, and the beautiful sight through the windows of the stars streaming past and the swirling vortex of collars that was interdimensional travel.

There are more questions than answers, but the crew is willing to help, especially the Command Staff and greeters.

"Yes, I am. My name is Jean-Luc Picard, and I am the captain of this vessel and her crew. How might I help you?"

"Oh, don't allow me to trouble you. My name is Sheeana. I just wanted to see if my guess was correct. You remind me of a friend who was also a commander." Yes, definitely something of the Red Duke to this man.

"Well, that's a first. I remind you of a friend?" Picard had met someone who didn't know who he was from television or movies or whatever. The world may very well end.

They don't have TV in the Duniverse. "Yes. He commanded a near fanatic level of loyalty from his men because his decisions were always fair and he led from the front line. I have a hunch you inspire the same type of loyalty...that reptile from earlier notwithstanding." She'd watched the looks others had given him, that same gleam and wetness of the eye. That some of those looks were due to him being lead of their favorite TV show, she was unaware.

[OOC: Frank Herbert led the write-in campaign that saved the original series.]

That was a plus for him. "I wouldn't say 'fanatical', but I do try and be fair in my orders and judgment, just as I would never order one of my crew to do something I wasn't willing to do myself."
