Newbie Meet n' Greet
For the newbies, there are people waiting for them in the Obs Deck. A whole gaggle of people. Behind them is the nasty statue, and the beautiful sight through the windows of the stars streaming past and the swirling vortex of collars that was interdimensional travel.
There are more questions than answers, but the crew is willing to help, especially the Command Staff and greeters.

"I wouldn't try to find people in here, it's a madhouse. The way I'd do it is to wait until you get an omnicom, they're kind of like little personal computers, send out a message on there, and then try to arrange a meeting from there." she continues thoughtfully. "You could try and hunt people down after this meeting, but that sounds like a lot of work if you don't already know who's on your team."

If it was, she wouldn't bother speaking to anyone. But she needs answers and this ship, apparently, needs all of them.
"So the groups are simply sent to...a planet," which is about the point Diana realizes this is not a ship on water and her eyes shift from green to a very sharp blue. "Without any warning or indication of what their final purpose is? So are they usually sent as envoys or exploration teams?"
Omnicom is not a term Diana has ever heard before, but she can figure out that it is some sort of communication device. One hopes she doesn't try to take it apart. "No, none of the names are familiar to me. I see, thank you for the assistance. What is your position here, when you are not answering questions for recent arrivals, Miss Wyn?"

"Oh, it's not a problem. I'm on the Engineering staff and Team November, which is honestly a bit of a stupid name for a team." Wyn says, waving a hand in irritation. "And it's just Wyn, really, we've got to be about the same age."
no subject
"What does the engineering staff on this vessel do?" More slightly blank expression as Wyn's annoyance. "It has little to do with age, however, if you insist. How old are you, then?"
no subject
She wasn't annoyed with the 'Miss Wyn' thing, she was annoyed with what she sees as a stupid name for her team full of werewolves. "... um, 20. But still, seriously, if we're all going to be trapped on a living spaceship with each other for God-only-knows-how-long there's no need to be so formal." she continues apologetically.

Diana looks at Wyn for a moment, a long moment, before finally nodding. "I see. My name is Diana." Formalities are the sum and substance of how her mind works, but really? Today is not the day for that argument. Besides, she can always call her Miss Wyn in her own head.

"Nice to meet you, Diana! Where and when are you from, if you don't mind me asking?" This isn't for anything official, it's just for personal reference, but Wyn likes to know. Maybe eventually she'll run into someone from her universe, but she doubts it. Most people don't believe in magic here.

Diana smiles a bit. "Russia. When is a bit more difficult, as there are three calendar systems in use. However, by the Gregorian Calendar the year was 1865. 2409 by the Nirvana Statute. And yourself?"

"And if you want to get technical, the Gaeltacht Quarter is sort of like a chunk of Ireland planted smack in the middle of Old London, so it's not exactly London. The British Empire is still around, so the King controls England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, India and Pakistan, and bits of Africa. Most people who aren't English are very unhappy with that situation."

"Oh, mechanical engineering." Wyn says airily. "It's basically the mad-scientist major at university, but that just means I fit right in."
no subject
"So what do you build?" Mad scientists are common in Diana's opinion. And probably useful for this sort of endeavor.

Which brings Diana to another point, fascinatingly enough. "Is magick common here? In a room full of people I have seen very little of it."
no subject
"I haven't seen much onboard, especially not since I'm in Engineering, although I keep hoping there's someone I can work with." Wyn says thoughtfully, glancing around the room.
[ooc: deleted and reposted for general fail. sorry!]

Diana tilted her head, a bit, and the bracelet shifted again. Up her arm and around her throat, settling as a wide necklace. "What sort of work?"
no subject
"I haven't-- ooh, how'd it do that?" Wyn says, distracted by
the shinythe movement of Diana's necklace-bracelet-jewelry-thing.no subject
It takes Diana a moment to realize what Wyn is asking about, which is likely a very good indicator of how used to it she (and other people from her world) are to the apparent oddity.
"It is the Crown. On a Metalwerker or those who deal in Time, it moves of it's own design and will."
