Get you Gone
The meeting is over, the teams have been assigned, the plans have been laid out. It's time to get weapons.
It's time to wish each other luck, and say goodbyes--with the hope that they're only "good bye for now"s.
It's about to get very hairy from here on out.
It's time to wish each other luck, and say goodbyes--with the hope that they're only "good bye for now"s.
It's about to get very hairy from here on out.
Deployment
And wish each other good luck. Everyone is going to need it, even though, right now, they have no idea what's to come.
Re: Deployment
Brainiac 5 is balking at the idea of having a weapon. His intelligence isn't exactly something that can be nullified easily, as far as superpowers go, and his shield belt is formidable enough to forsake the need for weapons. He does however take a few that he can configure along the way for other uses. Even he knows the value of the occasional explosive.
There is no one for him to say goodbye too, or so he thinks. After all, Sensor will be joining him, and he's not especially close to many--not enough that he thinks they'd want to wish him luck. So he ignores the people around him as he does the last bit of readying his equipment.
The monkey is on his shoulder. He needs somewhere for Koko to go for the duration. The little monkey is smart enough to know to stay if Brainy tells him to, but he'd much prefer if someone else were to watch him. Especially since he seems to understand his master is leaving him and is making little ook-ing worried noises over it.
"Don't you start. You're used to this. It's no different from back home, and I don't intend to risk your life just because you want to go where the excitement is."
Koko gets a scratch on the head and a fond look for all his plaintive screechy noises, though.
Re: Deployment
Brainy though... she's more worried about him than the others somehow. Jaime and Paco and Sean live in that illusory world in her head where 'everything will turn out okay because I said so'. They have Kahji Da and Ninja Training and Big Sticks.
But Brainy is like her, as vunerable as she is, so him ... she's got to see him and do what little she can to protect him before he leaves.
When she spots him she rushes over, calling his name.
"BRAINY!"

Re: Deployment
She was waiting. Waiting for familiar people to arrive, waiting for the stab of seriousness to pass, waiting for the knots in her stomach to ease, waiting for calm. Outwardly, she projected what she wished her innards would have been, but people she knew and loved were leaving to some fate unknown. While she could smile and let them go with as much grace as she had, she wished to cling to each of them and forbid them to go. But. This she would not do.
Every single one of them had their part to play. Her place with with Obi-Wan, helping to protect the large group that would remain. Luke would be with Mara. The angry Jed-Eye, she had not heard from at present, but she hope we would be well, too. For now, she watched for familiar faces and pulled on the Force for much needed calmness.

He had his mission, he knew what he was going to do.
And as he made last preparations with his own gear, he let the last of whatever fear that might have crept in disappear and let the System drive him on.

Re: Deployment
Terry went over his gear. He checked the suit's diagnostics and power levels, and went through his belt. He normally didn't worry about this back home, but on the ship, with no access to replacement parts, or someone he trusted to patch the suit up, he was a bit worried. He was staying behind, so hopefully he wouldn't need to use to much of his gear.

Re: Deployment
Of course, he trusted her to handle herself in danger, but his brother and son and himself were all in danger. It would be nice to think that maybe those Left Behind would be safe, so there would be at least one member safe. After he had made sure he was ready to leave, he went in search of Loren, just in case.
After all, there was always a chance that just in case was a real case for things like this.

Some of them are rather midgety, and much as they've been children of the corn on him, he does want to tell them to be careful.
He's not sure why he's developed it, but he's got something of a protective streak towards the ship munchkins.

Re: RE splitup.
Still, it was with mixed feelings that he had consented to the team assignments. Half of him was glad that Claire and Jill would be staying behind, but the other half wanted them to come along so he could personally see to their safety. The latter half had eventually been suppressed enough to concentrate on the fight ahead, though he still needed to find his sister, partner, and Leon.
There were things that needed to be said, just in case.

Re: Deployment
She's not going with the main group. She wishes she was. She also is glad she isn't. It's a large group. Though she'd never admit it, she can pick out the individuals in it that she trusts as leaders. Fighters. Other protectors. While she can also pick out the new blood, she knows that the aforementioned will do everything in their ability to prevent harm from coming to the rest of the crew.
She really hated to admit it, but she may be a little attached to everyone on this ship. Even those she really didn't get along with. She even trusts a few of them not to screw up and let everyone else die while she's offship. She'd actually be upset if she came back to a bunch of corpses.
Damn these protector instincts.

It was time to make sure she used hers to their advantage too. She may not have been a superhero, but she had a gift, and she wouldn't hesitate to use it if it meant they might all be safe.
The skin felt snug against her body, but she'd done enough exercising that the extra weight wouldn't be a problem. Her OTHER items were in place too: the water skin on her left hip, the semi-automatic on her right, and the other semi automatic at her back strapped near her right shoulder.
She took a breath, then steeled her eyes, solemn but still eager. "I'm ready."

Re: Deployment
Now that he's in his armor, things are sliding into place, making sense. 'Bandit-the-dog', family pet, never learned to deal with a military setting, but '1-the-dog', bio-engineered weapon equipped by the Air Force, did. He knows what's coming next, and it's natural and okay because his training led up to this. The only difference is that in this case, he won't have 2 and 3 to back him up. He doesn't dwell on it, in the same way he tends to dwell on nothing at all; he has a job, and he knows how to do it, and in his dog brain that's a large comfort and a certain, stable thing he can rely on.
It's just that simple.

Blitzwing doesn't bother mingling. He checks his systems are all at full operating efficiency, and then waits for deployment.
Re: Deployment
Bullets can tear through armor, but if they're going against anything robotic the melt damage of some plasma fire with some homing tendencies should be helpful.
He's not one to seek anybody out before the mission, Chief's not a feelings-y kind of guy, but he hopes they don't lose many people. He's not optimistic about losing no one, but... they've been lucky so far, haven't they?
He watches from the sides as he does some last minute prep, running suit diagnostics, keying in identities into his motion tracker of other crew members if they give off any kind of signal he can pick up, and manually dumping tactical data from his omnicom into his helmet via a small cable.

There's a few people Jaime wants to speak to first, before he goes.
One of them is one of the recently released people from prison. Katara seems to have landed on her feet almost immediately, but Robin? Not so much. He also never got the chance to talk to him about...everything.
He's still a bit upset over it.
