The meeting is over, the teams have been assigned, the plans have been laid out. It's time to get weapons.

It's time to wish each other luck, and say goodbyes--with the hope that they're only "good bye for now"s.

It's about to get very hairy from here on out.

Bat-huddle

[crusades]

Batman does what he does before every mission. He checks his pockets. Batarangs? Check. Bat-grapple gun? Check. Bat-smoke grenades? Check. Bat-lock pick? Check. Bat-computer spikes? Check. Bat-snacks? Check. Bat-family pictures? Ch-- almost had ya.

He does this again. And again. And again...

[goddamnwingman]

Dick would absolutely not believe Bat-family pictures. Those are kept in stately Wayne Manor, after all. Or on the Bat-computer under the best locks Oracle can devise. (She's probably seen all of them.)

He walks over to Batman, nodding slightly. "Everything in order?"

[crusades]

"Always is," he replies, still fastiduously going through the pouches on his belt, "But I'm not the one who's going to have to keep an eye on Jason and Valley. My job is a relative breeze."

[goddamnwingman]

"Not to mention any of the meta kids who stay behind." Dick sighs, rubbing the back of his head. "Any Bat-pain killers in there?" He's going to need them by the end of this mission.

[crusades]

"I do, but let's save the morphine for after we get through this," his lip curls slightly, and he finally quits rummaging long enough to cross his arms over his chest, "And luckily for you, I think I got most of the Titans out of the bargain."

[goddamnwingman]

"I think some of them are still Young Justice." Before they were Titans. "Pretty certain Impulse is." Dick does grin a little bit, though. "I don't envy you that one."

[crusades]

"He is. I'm counting on Tim for that one," have either of them noticed that they're more concerned about the threat their allies pose than that of their enemies? Maybe they ought to build some sort of satellite...

Dick has. But their allies are known quantities and, in his case, it's generally just good-natured teasing. (He likes Bart. Really.) Them he CAN worry about. The rest is just speculation without enough information. "Tim'll make good. Him and Kon, at least, should be able to keep things under control."

[crusades]

"Hn." is his response to the Superboy reference. He'd never say it, but he took relief from the fact that it was Jaime Reyes running the caper and not one of the more experienced teens among them.

He holds out a hand and in it is one of the Bats' standard issue earpieces, just in case Dick didn't find one in his locker, "Just keep me posted."

[goddamnwingman]

No, he didn't, so he's grateful for the one Batman offers him. He nods and takes it, tucking it into his ear straight away. "I will. For as long as the ship allows communication."

[crusades]

"All the more reason to carry them. I'm counting on the frequency from the Legion rings distracting the ship's scramblers."

It's a long shot, and an optimistic take on the ship's capabilities to say the least, but if everything goes to hell they were going to need ever trick they could spare.

Dick raises an eyebrow. "Didn't say it was a bad idea. But yeah, hopefully the rings will distract whoever is on the bridge." And he's certain that the Bat-comms work on a completely different channel. Because Batman's good about that.

He pauses, glancing away a moment before looking back to Batman. "Keep yourself safe, yeah? And Tim, though I'm sure he can look after himself."

[crusades]

Bruce may not smile, but his eyes soften behind the cowl.

He replies, "It's what we do."

"Who, me?" Tim approaches with a slight smile to mask the worried look on his face. He'd feel a lot better about all of this if they were sticking together, but... he gets why Dick is staying behind. "I've been getting myself out of trouble for ages."

He sobers, though, as he stands there. "You take care of yourself, too," he says seriously. He refuses to contemplate losing another member of his family.

[goddamnwingman]

Somebody who knows them should keep an eye on Jason and Valley, after all. "Yeah, well, it doesn't hurt to have backup," Dick says with a grin, reaching out to ruffle Tim's hair. Just a little, brotherly gesture.

The rest of it makes Dick pull Tim in for a one-armed hug. "I promise, I'll take care of myself. I've been getting myself out of trouble for longer than ages."

[crusades]

"And I've been getting both of you out of trouble for longer than longer than ages."

And getting them into it in the first place. Okay, so the point is moot...

"Glad you could make it, jailbird. Kennedy give you any trouble with your equipment?" Because of course Bruce comes packing spares.

"That's jail-Robin." What? Nothing says he can't have a sense of humor over all of this. Tim shakes his head. "No. I think this is taking precedence over my probation."

OOC: That is the best icon ever.

"As well it should." It's not like there's anything more important at the moment. Or there shouldn't be anything more important. "We don't have the time to be fighting amongst ourselves."

[crusades]

Bruce just shoots Dick a wry look. Perhaps he shouldn't be surprised, but Bruce had never considered this an 'us' game. This was the three of them trying to defend a society that didn't necessarily deserve it. Just like always. It's what they do.

"You'd think so."

Tim just shrugs a little. "You would, but people aren't always the most rational."
