Get you Gone
The meeting is over, the teams have been assigned, the plans have been laid out. It's time to get weapons.
It's time to wish each other luck, and say goodbyes--with the hope that they're only "good bye for now"s.
It's about to get very hairy from here on out.

Re: Deployment
"I'm not the kind of person that likes to kick someone while they're down, but I feel like I need to say this to you. You are someone I've admired since I met you. You're a hero that made yourself into who and what you are, no alien technology tossed in your lap, no reluctance--you just decided you wanted to change the world for the better and then you made yourself into someone who could. When you led the Titans, you taught me that you don't compromise on what's right. And when I first met you here, and you said I wasn't the Blue Beetle, it was like a slap to the face--because it was coming from you."
He sucks in a deep breath.
"After what happened with the Yeerk, I don't--I have no idea how to put it into words how disappointed I am."
Re: Deployment
"I know," he says finally. "And trust me--you're not the only one."
Re: Deployment
"I could've woken up and found out I'd killed someone--or someones. That Khaji--that everything I've done to teach him right and wrong was pointless. Because we all got put in that bad situation by your group."
He doesn't kick while people are down, though. He doesn't. Which is why the expression on his face changes and goes softer, and he looks more sympathetic.
"That being said, I know that wasn't really you. You did something while hurt, and no one makes good decisions when they're hurt."
He looks over at him with warm, brown eyes.
"We all screw up, we all make dumb choices--ones that get people hurt sometimes. I know I've made plenty starting out, and I'll probably make tons more. What matters is what we do to try to make up for them, and what we do to make sure we never make them again."
He places an armored hand on his shoulder.
"This is your chance to get your mojo or whatever back, okay? This is a chance to be Robin again instead of 'scared, angry guy.' And I think it goes without saying that you'll make the most of it, and that I trust you to."
Re: Deployment
Really, this time, and not just pretend to be okay, because that's what got him into this mess in the first place.
The smile he gives Jaime this time is much more genuine. "I will. And--thanks."
He'd needed that.
Re: Deployment
"And now I have to go do some more public speaking and try not to throw up in my bugsuit."
Re: Deployment
At all.
