Get you Gone

The meeting is over, the teams have been assigned, the plans have been laid out. It's time to get weapons.

It's time to wish each other luck, and say goodbyes--with the hope that they're only "good bye for now"s.

It's about to get very hairy from here on out.

Sherry shifted through the crowd just as carefully as she could. She hadn't talked to Dani since they found Bandit, but that was probably because they ran in different circles (sometime literally).

"You're leaving, too?"

Dani looked over at Sherry and smiled. "Hey Sherry! Yeah, I am," she said.

If there's one thing Sherry isn't envious of, it's the people that have to leave. Still, Dani and the others are fairly nice people, and a few of them she at least doesn't find unbearably annoying. Like Dani.

"Will you be okay out there?" Sherry looked a little concerned. "I mean, you probably will, but..." she shrugged. She never was very good at this 'being concerned for strangers' business.

Dani gives her a confident grin. "Of course I will be! I'm a superhero. This is the sort of thing we're made to do."

Sherry cannot think of one battle she's read of that had superheroes saving the day. But sure, she decided she'd allow the 'superheroes' some benefit of the doubt.

"Well, you have to come back in one piece, then. I don't get to talk with you often, so, I'd like to. When all this..." Sherry motioned at the crush of people around them, "is over?" She is so far out of her element right now it makes her extra nervous. Sherry itched the top of her nose again and half-sighs.

Dani paused for a moment, thinking over the words, making sure she got it right. She beamed. "Yeah! I'd like that," she said. She didn't talk to most of the kids her age. She was kind of used to...not drawing attention to herself.

It was a bad habit, she knew.

But it'd be nice to be better friends with one of them, right? "I'll come back in one piece," she said and winked. "I'm a lot tougher than I look."

Mission accomplished, then. She thinks, anyway. Sherry's not very sure what she just accomplished here, other than the fact Dani seems very confident in her duties and they'll probably hang out together when she returns.

Well, that's enough for her, she supposed. Sherry offered a small, almost-smile, and pointed back at Leon. "I should probably go now, and let you finish preparing. But, don't forget. About when you come back, I mean." There is nothing in Sherry demeanor that suggests that Dani won't come back, but there is a funny little fear in her stomach.

It's probably just her stitches.

"I won't forget," Dani promises. She doesn't intend to break her promise either. Promises were important to her. "I'll see you later," she said, offering Sherry a wave.

"Yes, see you later," Sherry waved back shyly and turned to head back to where her father was in the crowd.
