Get you Gone

The meeting is over, the teams have been assigned, the plans have been laid out. It's time to get weapons.

It's time to wish each other luck, and say goodbyes--with the hope that they're only "good bye for now"s.

It's about to get very hairy from here on out.

Bandit mingled, now clad in his battle armor. It shined a polished, matte silver as he moved, sniffing about as he usually did. Describing his mental state at that moment would be difficult; he doesn't have quite the depth of emotion that humans have, and while he can and does feel/express hurt, fear and anger, these are visceral responses and not what would correspond to human anxiety or anguish related to the anticipation of battle. For the most part, Bandit is...calm. Relaxed.

Now that he's in his armor, things are sliding into place, making sense. 'Bandit-the-dog', family pet, never learned to deal with a military setting, but '1-the-dog', bio-engineered weapon equipped by the Air Force, did. He knows what's coming next, and it's natural and okay because his training led up to this. The only difference is that in this case, he won't have 2 and 3 to back him up. He doesn't dwell on it, in the same way he tends to dwell on nothing at all; he has a job, and he knows how to do it, and in his dog brain that's a large comfort and a certain, stable thing he can rely on.

It's just that simple.

"Wow, Bandit! I didn't know you had something like that," Dani said, staring at the dog in wide eyed surprise.

Bandit cocks his head at Dani. He can't wag anymore, but his ears are perked.

DANI-BOSS FITE 2?

"Yeah, I'm gonna fight too," Dani said and then beamed. "Wow! You didn't mention the cool battle suit before."

IS COAT, he says, unsure of her tone. She sounds so happy. SECRET. CLASS-FIED. He explains, sounding for all the world like he's remarking about the weather. Yup. So, how 'bout them battlesuits.

She thinks it looks cool. She's only a kid. "Cooooool. Didn't know you were a butt kicking dog too."

"...Geez, boy, who put you in that thing?" Kon's hand maybe moves a mite too fast as he goes to pet him.

LEON-BOSS SAY: 'IS GUD DOG 4 HAVE COAT' Bandit explains. Lucky for you, Kon, his nose got you faster than his ears and eyes combined, so that hand didn't surprise him. He may have broken his teeth on your hand. He licks Kon's fingers. KON-BOSS STAY OR GO? He may not be a 12th-level intellect or what have you, but he got the gist of what Jaime said.

"For now, I guess, but I promise as soon as the danger's over, we can get you out of that thing."

Kon figures Leon plans to, but it's good to reassert it so Bandit knows for sure.

"It might get dangerous--that's why he wants you in it. So you can keep others safe, and also be safe from bad things."

Kon scritches his poor lil' head. He does not like the suit, he does not like it. He's imagining Krypto trapped in all that metal (not like the damn dog wouldn't just shred his way out in a second, but if he couldn't...) and it makes him even more pissed off.

Who did this to him? This is like the kinda crap Cadmus pulled before he and Superman kept their close eye on it, people messing with things they shouldn't, making their weapons out of things that maybe didn't want to be weapons...

"And I have to go with the other group. Gotta punch some baddies and get us all out of here. To go home. Or find a home, for anyone that doesn't have one. But I'll be back."

He keeps his words nice and simple. "You stay? Stay and be good? Protect the kids, okay? Or whatever Leon needs you to do. And stay alive. Don't get hurt. You're a good dog--you deserve fetch, not getting hurt."

Sherry rubbed her eyes and looked at the large, alien body that seemed of have swallowed her dog whole. Well, not really hers, there are probably a hundred people on the ship that claim the dog is theirs, but she loves him best. That, she's fairly sure of.

Maybe it was a dream. Some kind of cruel and unusual dream from eating too much of that grey goop. Sherry purses her lips and sighs, defeatedly. "Bandit?"

Bandit turns. No luck, Sher. On the plus side, no one will ever touch you again.

SHERRY-BOSS! Bandit greets her, moving almost soundlessly over to her. Due to his tail being stuck in the dog, he can't wag, but he bumps his head lightly against her hip.

Then the only person who saw the silver lining in the situation had to be her father.

Sherry knelt down and squeezed her eyes shut when her body loudly protested the movement. She kind of wanted to cry, but kept herself mostly collected. Sherry scratched under his jaw carefully. "What are you doing in that big suit? Hm?"

Well at least there is one. Also armor badassery. Armor badassery is always a plus.

Bandit can sense her sadness; tentatively, he licks her face. LEON-BOSS SAY: 'IS GUD DOG 4 HAVE COAT. PROTECT. IM-POR-TANT. PROTECT SHERRY-BOSS.' He explains, leaning into the petting. I'm sorry, Sherry, he can't really tell you his super-secret-origin-story. It's kind of beyond his capacities.

And she's inherited the most badass dog in the universe. But she didn't want to, not particularly.

"I guess that's okay, then," she murmured and scratched behind his ears. It didn't appear she minded the face licks in the least. Sherry did her best to tell herself to just accept it. Besides, maybe it would come off after and she would have a regular (well, you know what she means) Bandit again. "It's pretty terrible to put you in a suit, though." Leon would have some explaining to do. "Even if it is to protect. You're a good dog, though, to do it anyway." Very, very good dog.
