Get you Gone

The meeting is over, the teams have been assigned, the plans have been laid out. It's time to get weapons.

It's time to wish each other luck, and say goodbyes--with the hope that they're only "good bye for now"s.

It's about to get very hairy from here on out.

Chris nodded with a withheld urge to blush. It really wouldn't do for Selene to see him blushing like high school student. "That's good. I should be fine. As long as I have this, I should be able to handle anything." Chris fiddled with his Advent Deck, slightly unsure of his next words.

"You uh, know how to use a gun right? I was a marine. I could show you how to use it if you don't." Great Chris, stop acting like a dork...

"Ah, would that be the deck then?" Selene asked, looking at the deck curiously, being nice and ignoring his fiddling.

Selene nodded. "Don't worry, I know how to fire one," she said. "Didn't know you were a marine though."

That was something Chris was eternally grateful for. Chris swallowed his pride and answered his question. "Uh, yeah. It's kind of a long story. the gist of it was I went through bootcamp and was discharged shortly after completing it for extreme asthma."

"Oh, ouch," Selene said, wincing and pausing for a moment. "...you gonna be okay? I mean, asthma is one of those things that really bite to have act up."

"Don't I know it." He responded with a nod. "I'll be fine. I took some of my emergency asthma medication from the Medical Bay, and I should be fine. But..."

Chris' next words had more caution to him than normal. "I appreciate that you're worried about me. It means a lot, Selene."

Selene smiles, more of a reassuring one this time. "You're a good guy. It'd be horrible if you didn't come back. So be sure to come back, okay? And take that medicine if you need it."

Chris shares her smile. "I'm going to come back. I have to. Everyone here needs to go home. I'm sure there's people you miss back home too. And I will."

"There's some. And I'm sure you've got plenty of people to return to," Selene said.

"Yeah, I do." He thought wistfully. "You be careful here too. I don't want to have to worry about you when I come back."

"Oh, don't worry about me getting hurt. I never get hurt on organic ships. It's always the mind control that I worry about when there's some vehicle alive around me," Selene said in a joking tone.
