'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

There was nothing to tug, nothing to straighten, nothing but the oddly pulsing plantsuit that covered her like a second skin.  Walking into the observation deck, she had to stop for a moment to take it all in.  Her eyes were riveted to the view of the Bleed for a long while despite the noise of people greeting other people, the blend of voices a hum.  She could pick voices out selectively, and listened with all the intensity she put to her own job, hoping for another familiar voice besides that of McCoy. 

Family and loved ones were supposed to be here, weren't they?  Or maybe not here but back in that endless cavern of pods that had yet to wake from stasis.  The rising panic of it all tried to surface again and Uhura pushed it down.  All the what ifs and oh Gods and the frightening wave upon wave of uncertainty.  She stopped where she was and stood there, breathing in the slightly humid air, isolating sounds (there was a high whistling sound of air blowing, a rumble that might have been the engines--she assumed they were engines, a tick, tick, tick sound, someone crying somewhere, laughter, someone in angry debate), her eyes closed as she calmed herself. 

She could do this. 

She would do this.

But still, her legs felt rubbery and her mind kept trying to race in every direction at once.  Uhura kept herself still, outwardly composed, and when she was sure she wasn't going to fall apart, she opened her eyes.

Spock had calculated the odds of someone he knew being awakened. The odds were not in his favor.

Still, he found himself on the observation deck with many others, standing well back away from the crowd, avoiding contact, his hands clasped behind his back. Whether someone he knew appeared or not, he might be able to lend aid, or answer questions.

He saw her before she saw him, and, though no one around him would've noticed, his breath caught in his throat momentarily on sight of her. Rarely was Spock rendered speechless, but it took a moment for his mind to resume its usual processes.

Spock assessed the situation from his vantage point. She was distressed, he could tell, though she retained the outward calm he so admired.

It was only when he could tell that she had collected herself that he approached.

"Lieutenant," he said, his demeanor as professional as ever.

Negi was barely listening to the rumble of people in the crowded room. He didn't care for anything at the moment, despite clutching onto the comm ring and Omnicom like a life-line. He had found his cloak and his staff in possessions and Chamo sat to the side, taking a drag of some kind of holographic cigarette to calm his nerves.

There was a long tense silence between the pair. And then Chamo handed Negi a cigarette.

The boy-turned-teenager took it, lit it up and took a drag. He coughed, but the faux nicotine did nothing at any rate, only the gesture of it was enough for him.

"Aniki, it's not your fault." said Chamo to begin their conversation but it was cut off quickly.

"It IS my fault, Chamo-kun. I... I failed. Everyone... my students, my friends, Rakan-san, Yue-san, Nodoka-san, Haruna-san, Asuna-san... everyone... its just me and you." He took another steadying drag of the drug that was not even there and coughed again. "Damnit..."

"I wanted to get them home..." added Negi after a minute more of silence. "Everyone. Even if I had to sacrifice my own heart to do so, I would have. And yet..."

"The Princess-chan in front of you, really isn't the princess at all..."

"Asuna-san..." murmured Negi, sinking further into depression. "She's..."

"I know... aniki. I know." said Chamo as he took a puff. He flicked the hologram into nothingness and pulled another cigarette from the holopack, lighting it up with a burst of ermine fire. "I know."

Negi sat there in the corner, huddled into the cloak that was far too small for him, the gaping hole in the right of his chest. A vulnerable expression as the young man took another drag.

Why the hell did I come here? I don't need to meet all these new people at once. Tsukasa thought, as he looked around the Ops Deck, when he saw a huddled mass in the corner...and was that a smoking ferret? He walked over, and it turns out it was a young man in a cloak too big for him. So, Tsukasa walked over and sat down beside the kid.

"You okay, kid?" He asked, with no ceremony or introduction whatsoever.

A brief visit to weapons and possessions had thankfully returned Mordin to a state of near normalcy. Weapons on hand, omnitool back in its proper place and even his armor, which he wore in lieu of the rather intriguing (if disturbing) plantsuit. He ahd been directed here, to the Obs deck. And so he had come, hopefully to gain some answers to the many questions that were bouncing around his head.

And answers he would get! In a rather unlikely form, admittedly-- a sketchy-looking man in glasses leaning against the wall a short distance away, smoking a cigarette. One of the new crewmates had a box in their possessions and as soon as Luis smelled the intoxicating nicotine cloud he missed so greatly (and had really, just about quit cold turkey) all it took was some emphatic begging for him to get one loaned to him.

And he was enjoying it. Immensely.

Never one to discriminate against freaky-looking aliens, he sat up and headed over to this one since it looked like nobody had yet. "Hola, amigo, welcome to the meatship," he said pleasantly. "Anything I can help you with?"

Okay, so, except for the pulsating, it was like wearing one of the X-uniforms. And at least she'd gotten the goo out of her hair.

But no hair ties, meaning no pigtails, meaning... her hair was being floppy. She shoved it out of her face, and looked around. The ring on her finger felt weird - years of hand to hand meant she didn't wear many rings - and she really did not like the whole institutionalisation thing going on with the suit. Where were the colours? The fun?

Okay, so the ship had said 'loved ones' - she sincerely hoped that didn't mean Logan and Scott. She could go for some other people, but not those two. Not just yet. Give her a few days, then she'd probably be missing them.

Jubilee continued looking around. She stumbled a bit, shuffling through the crowd. "I cannot be the only X-wearer here." She muttered to herself.

She lingered. Having left the med bay, she had decided to go off to the Obs deck and check...for him. Why it was hard to think about him she didn't know: had it been so many months waiting and getting nothing and hating herself for feeling that way. Nonetheless, there were new people coming in, and since Katara was a fairly friendly girl, she was curious.

She passed by a girl that definitely interested her: it was the hair that caught her attention since she had never seen it quite in that style.

But her attention was DEFINITELY piqued when she heard the "X" part.

"Um, excuse me," she said, "I couldn't help but overhear. You aren't an 'X-man' are you?"

Kyle rubbed his forehead as he walked. This was turning into a very strange day, and that was saying something by the standards of his life. Looking around the room he tried to find anyone he could recognize. No luck so far. Maybe if he just stayed put somebody would explain exactly what was going on.

Something--a ripple in the Force, a familiar tug at his mind--had brought Luke from the hangar, where he'd been working on the X-Wing assigned to him, back to the observation deck. Sometimes, Luke wished he wasn't a bit shorter than average; it was difficult to see over everyone's heads.

But between shoulders and shifting people he spotted a face he knew well. "Kyle Katarn!" he called, smiling and waving to get the other Jedi's attention.

It was all here - all like he remembered it from the last time. Kira paused for a moment, swallowing and trying collect himself before he entered the Observation Deck. He hadn't seen Lacus down in the bay; would she be here? Or was she still asleep down in the pods?

Who would he see that he knew here, anyway - if anybody?

It would probably, Ben acknowledged, have helped if he'd taken a few minutes to meditate after he'd found his lightsaber. His heart was racing, and there was perspiration beading on his neck from the damp heat of the cavern. But he could find a quiet spot to meditate later. Right now, every instinct he had was telling him to get answers, to get information, to solve the mystery. At least he knew who to ask -- sort of.

"Any 'others' here?" he asked, keeping his tone casual but using the Force amplify his voice a little. "I hear you've got some explanations."

Another tug in the Force, and this one was so familiar that it made Luke's gut clench. He turned from where he'd been standing, scanning the crowd of incoming beings for more friends, reaching out in the Force because he at first couldn't believe what his eyes were telling him. But he'd know that head of red-gold hair, that voice anywhere. He'd be able to pick it out of a hundred others, even.

Pushing his way through groups, between shoulders, murmuring apologies as he went, he made his way over to Ben. But when he stood before him, blue eyes wide, Luke found that words stuck in his throat, and all he could get out was a soft, "Ben?"

After following the lit pathway to a room where he was thankfully relieved of the copious amounts of space goo (albeit in a rather uncomfortable and frankly creepy fashion), Simon was just about ready to lose it. He wanted three things: Answers, his sister, and clothes, not necessarily in that order.

So far, he'd only managed the clothes. Though the ship...Stacy...had provided vague information about the situation, it wasn't good enough. He wanted someone to tell him what was going on, where Mal or Zoe or Book or Kaylee were, what had happened to Serenity, what they'd done with his sister. If River was even here. Trying to absorb this business about being chosen was pushed aside in favor of searching for something, anything familiar.

The possibility that they'd been separated, and the possibility that she might be gone only fueled his desperation as he tried to scan the room, calling for River as he did so.

It was very difficult to miss Kang in the crowd. At seven feet, he was taller than most, and the fact that he had wings, horns, a tail, and was covered in scales... well. The medieval armor and weaponry didn't help.

He was leaning against a wall, searching the crowd, a frown on his face. No one he recognized.

...but that name, River. He remembered Kaylee mentioning a girl with that name before. "You... wouldn't happen to know a Kaylee, would you?"

There were situations, and then there were situations. The one the Iniss currently found himself in was the very definition of the latter description.

The host had been pushed back into the far corner of his brain, and the yeerk was more than prepared to face this situation with as much guile and skill as possible.

Which currently mean acting like a scared human, backpack drawn to his chest and new skin suit riding on hunched shoulders.

The host fell silent and the yeerk returned his attention to the press of bodies around him, shoulders tense and very deliberately not playing with the pocket holding his Dracon Beam.

"You look a little lost." The voice comes from above. Floating a few feet above the crowd, Apollo grins down at Tom, a halo of sunlight around his head. "Hold on."

Slowly, he drifts to the floor, then crosses his arms, giving Tom a friendly grin. His tone is positive, upbeat. Like they're not the last members of their respective universes, here to stop it from happening to others. "There's no need to worry, things are gonna be okay. All right?"

The shower had been great - she didn't even get decent showers on Pandora a lot of the time, so if she took a little too long in the shower than was strictly necessary well... her CO wasn't here and even if he was he could bite it. Last she'd seen him, he'd been shooting at her anyway.

The shower had been great - but a visit to weapons and possessions had yielded her rifle, and the niggling discomfort at the back of Trudy's mind abruptly went away as she slung it back over her shoulder. There were her dog tags, too, and her cross. No flight suit, though, which meant that she was picking at the material of the plant suit with a weirded out expression.

Oh, and she seemed to have a kid following her around still. Joy of all joys. Hopefully now that she and Karen got around more people, the kid would find someone else to latch onto. "Okay kiddo, looks like we've found the rest of civilization."

Aftran had found only her backpack and school supplies in Weapons & Possessions -- the things she'd been carrying on her before waking up in that glop. She hadn't been issued a Dracon beam for her assignment as the daughter of Uni-Bank's president, so she was defenseless.

She was currently trembling and clinging on to Trudy's hand, perfectly acting the part of a human child who was traumatized by those vines that had grabbed and dressed her. She looked around. "I don't see my mommy or daddy."

There was one very cheerful tech specialist on the Obs Deck. Seriously. After spending, oh, about a month and a half with GLaDOS, she was really, really happy to be back with the crew proper. She found it a little strange that the AI had decided to release her at the same time as a podrelease, but she didn't dwell on it too much. She was just glad to be back.

Surveying the crew for potential engineers as he always did (he knew their ranks had been bigger once), Billy bobbed his head up to see a kind-looking woman wearing an enormous smile. He'd just opened his mouth to say hello when a torrent of memories came flooding back to him all at once. Happy days in the lab, a struggle with the mistletoe, a Christmas celebration...he'd worked with her before. This was...

"Mei Ling!" The communications technician would soon find a happy young nerd in front of her, smiling with relief at one of the odd memory gaps being filled.

Spike was in a pretty good mood for someone who'd just been whisked away from his world, spewed out of an alien snot plant, and been clothed in some really weird bodysuit. He had his duster back, along with his lighter and a few packs of cigarettes in the pockets.

He pulled one cigarette out and lit it. He was ready to save the world. Again.

Now, time to meet the rest of the crew.

And Spike would come face to face with a demon girl. Alessa didn't bother with the human guise, it was fairly pointless now. What attracted her, strangely enough, was the cigarette smoke: it wasn't common among the crew, nor was it necessarily something many would find favorable.

She liked it already.

"Those things will kill you," Alessa said, grinning. "But feel like you might know a thing or two about that already."

Alessa was observant: there were humans, zombies, demons....and then there were things that just were WEIRD. Spike was in that category.

A small, many-armed red creature slowly entered the Obs Deck, trying to look around while also avoid being trod upon. She had a pair of saddle bags tied around the back half of her body, all the possessions she really owned or need. She was having a bit of a difficult time seeing everything, since everyone was so much taller then her. She spotted a fleshy couch, and wove between legs to get to it. When she did, she scrambled onto the back, and clung there, panting a bit, and gazing around with wide, confused eyes.

"Well, at least I'm not the only animal on-board this ship." A voice called out, noticing the creature. Nearby was Shadow the Hedgehog, a grin on his face as he approached the creature.

"Welcome aboard. The name's Shadow."

Sly Knife had been gratified to find his hunting equipment in a place the head-voice had called "Weapons and Possessions". That made sense. It had taken him a few minutes to get geared up - the mask, the body net, the armor, wrist controller, plasma caster, his medical kit, everything once more attached and in its proper place. He felt better now. The Oomans wouldn't have his equipment to study and he could finally walk unseen, as he should. There was a ripple in the air to mark his passage as he stuck to the corners of the room, watching and waiting.

Fun fact: being blind has fringe benefits. Not having vision to rely on, one trains their other senses for changes in the atmosphere. Having second sight (in a manner of speaking) helps even more; you can't hide an energy signature. Sure, you could hide heats, you can bend visible light, but there was always some form of energy, some aura, to give people away.

And someone trying to hide, well, that's just intriguing. Gives a man little choice but to investigate.

The half elf wasn't too sure about the clothing, but finding the sword Flint had made for him and his bow did make him feel better. The sword was at his hip, the bow in his hand.

He still was trying to figure out exactly what had happened, and stayed back a little, so far nothing seemed too threatening, but his mind was still trying to take everything in.

He'd have to deal with figuring things out later, he was being told he had to meet others.

Tanis stepped into the room he was still marveling the architecture not really paying attention to where he was walking.

"Sorry," Again with the Qualinosti, "I mean I'm sorry." He repeated in common.

...that sounded like elven. Kang had gotten used to understanding some of the other people on the ship while still being able to tell that they were speaking in a different language. He'd heard elven before, many times, and the only words he'd ever picked up were 'kill', 'draconian', 'monster'. Things of that nature.

This might be interesting.

Being careful to keep his hands away from his weapons, he approached the half-elf (who seemed familiar for some reason), "Krynn?"

Signum eventually made her way to the Obs Deck after retrieving Laevateinn from the weapons lockers, arriving wearing her full Knight's clothing and keeping the rather dangerous looking blade at her side in its sheath.

Even after being rearmed, she decided to take no overt action. For the moment, things seemed to be peaceful, and if there were other TSAB personnel here, she wanted to group up with them before doing anything.

So for now, she was waiting on the outskirts of the crowd, waiting for answers.

Rein had heard the telepathic call and she had made haste to the Obs deck. She realized that new people had been released and the little device clad in plantsuit and half-skirt was zipping through the throng at high speed. "Where is she where is she...!"

Then she saw her, the same serious woman in the ridiculously tight plantsuit. "SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGNUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM DESU~!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Hikari sighed, frowning and standing out of the way from the rest of the newer people who had hatched out of the pods. Tailmon was by her side at least, but even so everyone else... her brother, Takeru... Daisuke... everyone. They were gone.

Tailmon stayed close to her. It was obvious to the girl hat her partner didn't really trust anyone on the ship yet.

Ben had decided to come down and meet the new people, when he noticed the brown haired Japanese girl sitting to the side. Something about her...

He didn't really notice, but he walked up and raised a hand in greeting. "Hi, are you one of the new arrivals? I'm Ben."

Ashley had gotten the plantsuit on and despite how wrong it felt, it was better than walking around naked though she wished she saw anyone she recognized. Or better yet, her Assault Rifle. She stared at some of non-humans wondering who the heck was in change of this place.

"Excuse me? Who's in charge here?"

It's a little eerie how this guy's just sort of appeared. Especially considering he's huge. The man in the green hardsuit's been hanging back and watching, listening, not really mingling so much.

No one she knew was here. Tenchi, Ryoko, Ayeka, Washu, Mihoshi, Kiyone, none of them were amongst the group. But, it didn't mean she couldn't look. While the plant suit was certainly something strange to her, with her hair put up into her trademark pigtails and wearing at least one part of her kimono - pretty much staples of Juraian royal ware - she at least didn't feel naked anymore.

Matt was humming to himself as he entered Obs, looking over the sea of heads. There seemed to be quite the mix and quite a lot of people this time. Various alien species no less.

His eyes noticed another young child, a girl with blue hair who was searching around, carrying what could either be a plushie or an actual animal. It was definitely adorable.

Sliding through the crowd, he sought out Sasami and cleared his throat. "Are you in need of help miss? New here?"

Aine sat away from the group working on her gun, it looked like it wasn't damaged, much like herself. However, she had to be sure. She just checked the gemstones in the chambers for now, she would check it fully later. "Not what I was expecting today."

Simple guard job, traveling with the supply convoy to their new deployment. A few minor events had happened in the area, but it was figured with the size of the new deployment nobody would bother them. Instead she wakes up on some sort of ship, that was alive. Not in the animated way but in the flesh and bone way, living ship.

Her gun was clean, her powers around. She had a few mementos of home, she didn't feel so alone. So long as she didn't dwell on her family likely being dead, anyway. She pulled the blue-white longcoat around herself, "Father..."

Dani had just been flying around, taking a look at the new arrivals. Though when she passed by Aine, she heard her spoke and paused.

...well, it seemed like she could use with a friendly face.

So Dani moved back into the visible spectrum, floating a in front of Aine. After all, she was noticeable just in the fact she had the hazmat suit of ghost morph and not wearing a creepy plantsuit. Flying around made it more so, so she chose to be discrete.

"Hey there! Welcome to Stacy. That's a pretty cool coat."

A certain dragon survey's the surroundings and the crowd as she enters the observation deck. Not small by any means, coming to around five and a half foot at the shoulder, she still has the distinct impression that she's been shrunk down from her usual much larger size.

Celena's eyes alight with curiosity as to all the different species and people amongst the crowd. Sadly noting the current lack of presence of any other Linar, the prospect of learning of new cultures and peoples brightening her outlook somewhat as she walks on in.

Tanis turned looking as she entered. He was instantly glad Caramon wasn't there, because the young man would probably have drawn his sword and charged at it.

Instead he watched the creature carefully a moment then gave a small smile. After the shock of the Draconian, he didn't think a full dragon could really startle him.

Ran Fan was not happy.

Waking up naked in a strange place had been bad enough, but the clothing process had only caused her to further the unsettling feeling in her gut. But she had gone on with it with only a little protest, glad to be wearing something, even if it wasn't what she'd much rather wear. However, the first thing she had done was tear the left sleeve off of her plantsuit; better than risking it getting caught in the metal joints of her automail, right?

As much as she didn't want to just stand around waiting, she hung back at the edge of the crowd, eyes sharp as she scanned the group for any familiar faces. If that strange voice could be trusted, and she was a chosen "protector of life", then surely she should be able to meet with her comrades. Edward, Alphonse... perhaps the Flame Alchemist and his lieutenant. They should all be here right?

And if they were here, maybe...

As Matt skipped around a few people, he noticed the woman with the steel arm. His mind went ping for a moment before stepping up to her. "Are you looking for someone miss?" he inquired.

The Guv was feeling a heck of a lot better with a set of wheels beneath him. Not having a system of chains hanging in easy reach was unnerving at best, but he'd survive. Adjust.

The length of chain he'd found with the chair would be useful, was a weight of security looped over his shoulder and across his chest. It was good to have his ring back firmly jammed in place. His various other small possessions that apparently they'd decided to let him keep were securely secreted away.

Once he figured out what the blazes was going on, he'd start making his adjustments. Until then, he watched. Time to learn who the players were.

Well...that was a weird thing.

Pirogoeth walked over. Seemingly harmless at first glance, though the sword and dagger at her waist might seem to cause a bit of concern.

"Why dost thine chair have wheels?" Pirogoeth asked. The concept of a 'wheelchair' wasn't exactly one known in her world.

Tenaya, for lack of a better term, was sulking. Leaning up against a wall, arms folded over her plantsuit, she scowled as she listened to the news. There went Corinth, and there went her brother.

"We just saved the world only for it to get destroyed," she noticed. "Venjix would be so happy right now."

The observation deck was massively huge. Even the amount of people that were mingling about was nothing that he had seen before. Tatooine was a small world with hardly that many people wanting to just visit it like a vacation resort. Being in the New Republic didn't mean instantly seeing so many people in a space like this. Most of the bases had been small and out of the way as they made their way towards the Core. In fact their mission before had woken here was to infiltrate Coruscant. Apparently something else had other plans for him.

Tugging at the corner of his orange flight suit, his hand drifted to the datapad in his leg pocket checking to see if it was there then down to the blaster that hung at his side. At least a little of his personal possessions were within the pockets giving the youth a small comfort of home. Gavin moved through the throng of people glancing at faces hoping to at least see someone there he might know. So far no luck.

Wedge had headed to the Obs Deck along with others of the crew, hoping that he'd spy some familiar faces, and fortunately, this time, hadn't been disappointed. He pushed through the crowd, waving a hand to try and get Gavin's attention.

"Gavin! Gavin Darklighter!"
