'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

"Yeah, Ben. I do," her head bowed a little. Her parents didn't recognise her anymore. She and her mother were the same age, her mother perhaps younger. Barvy didn't even begin to describe what this was like, "But it's going to be okay. We've got family here, our family. They save galaxies for breakfast."

"Then battle Aunt Leia's spiceloaf for lunch," he sighed. "But even if Stacy's right, what are we doing here?"

"Naturally. It'd take a lightsaber to cut through mum's cuisine," her face hardened slightly. Prophecy was one of the Jedi tenets that never did sit too well with her, "Stacy's a refugee ship, but it seems like she only has the power to rescue people whose lives resonate through the universe. Some are here because they know how to fight and some are here simply because they're famous somewhere. We're all here because people tell stories about us. That's how I understand it, anyway."

Ben shook his head. "I don't buy it. Everyone buys into the refugee ship idea, but no one has a good reason why."

"Nobody's buying into much of anything, but right now we don't have much of a choice," she folded her arms and frowned, "We're in trouble, Ben. That's pretty much the only fact we've got to go on."
