'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Oh, was that a bit of an evil streak she heard? Jubilee grinned wickedly. "Mean? Why?" Jubilee asked innocently. "He's your brother, not your keeper." She pointed out. "Besides, there are dyes that only last a week or so, and they tend to be easy to wash out." A wink. "No reason why you couldn't... experiment a bit."

Jubilee was all about the corruption. ALL about it.

"Oh, if even the least bit of change happens to me, Sokka tends to get all flustered about it. He means well, but he takes the changes I make on the ship pretty badly: thinks I'm going to forget all about our people and our ways, I won't, but it is funny to see him get all upset about it. I'm all for experimentation."

She paused. "If you ever get to the Sensorium, we should recreate a market place...or whatever you call where you buy clothes and things."

Jubilee grinned wickedly. "Oh, tweaking noses of big brothers? That? Is so much fun." She winked. "I've not got an older brother, but I've got a few guys I like tweaking the noses of." And hopefully there would be a few here she could tweak.

"Sensorium?" She asked.

Katara laughed in spite of herself. "He's still adjusting to everything in the ship. He thisnk I've gotten a little too comfortable with all the change and it bothers him. I think it might help to shake his perspective every once and awhile...let him know that he can change a little too, and I won't mind it."

She nodded. "It's like...a simulation where everything looks and feels real but isn't."

"Ah yes, the ever present 'you're THIS way!' argument." Jubilee grinned. "I don't think my friends realise I'm not still thirteen." She said, shaking her head.

"Ya know, I've heard of things like that, back home." Danger room? Yes. Yes. HELL YES.

Katara shook her head. "He's pretty much like that, but he;'s a really good guy. Loyal, caring, and willing to stick his neck out for you if you need him. He makes me really mad sometimes, but I'm glad he's on the ship. Even if your siblings drive you crazy, you can't help but worry if they're not around. Still, I'm not a little girl anymore than you are: I'm GOING to do different things."

She grinned at Jubilee's reaction. "Maybe you can recreate these markets you call shopping malls. I think I'd like to see them."

Jubilee chuckled. "They always mean well, it's just they can't stand to see us grow up either." She knew that too.

"I could probably figure out a mall." Jubilee agreed. "Think I remember what they look like." She teased.

That was true. She knew that Sokka had always meant well, and still did look after her when he could. She would have to find a way to try and shorten the gap between them, although needling him a bit was something that just came naturally to her. "The way I'm headed always seems to freak him out."

"That would be great!" Katara said, grinning. "I wonder how I'd look with a blue streak in my hair?"

Yes, she was still thinking about that.

"So tell me...what kind of world are you from? I could guess, but I know that everyone's experiences are different."

[identity profile] fireworkbubbles.livejournal.com 2010-04-06 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Blue?" Jubilee eyed her critically. "What about purple? I could totally see you with both, but causing your brother to collapse in a heap the first time out, probably isn't the best idea." She grinned, winking.

Jubilee shrugged. "It's just Earth. Mutants, superheroes, saving the universe, friends, family..." She shook her head. "I mean, it's home and stuff. Just like yours is home to you." She smiled crookedly. "Not real sure how to explain it."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-04-06 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Purple," Katara said, toying with the idea. "I like that. I figured blue, since that's the color that usually fits me, but purple would be pretty new, and I've never really worn the color before. Why don't we give it a shot when you have the chance? We may just have to make do with Sokka flailing a bit, but I'm sure he;ll get over it. I didn't complain when we wore those glasses."

Katara shook her head. "Home is pretty different to a lot of people though. My home is all ice and water, and there are very few people ion the ship who think that would be their ideal kind of place to live. Meanwhile, I've only seen a little bit of earth, and no mutants there though there are plenty on the ship. What's it look like, where you're from?"
