'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"I've only been here... three months? Four? It's hard to tell," Kang crossed his arms over his chest. "No sun. No permanent sun, I should say. And, time is a little strange here."

"I've discovered that," Trudy said dryly. "I've already run into one person that I very clearly remember dying - and that was a while before Stacy nabbed me from the edge of getting blown up." She shook her head. "What do we do here, anyway? Besides try not to kill each other."
governorkang: (Having fun)

Kang laughed, "I ran into someone from home that's a well-known war hero, but he got nabbed from before the war. Not only that, but he was on the opposite side that I was, and he's been dead for five years. I know how awkward it can be."

His wings rustled. "Not much, really. There's a... school for the younglings, combat training for anyone that wants it, and rebuilding the City. The occasional party for whatever reason, too." At the last part, he grinned. "I threw one recently down in my tavern."

"Already good on the combat training, I want nothing to do with children, and I'll pitch in with the rebuilding if I'm needed but - tavern? You own a tavern? With actual booze?" Trudy grinned like Kang had just told her it was Christmas on the meatship. "Man, sign me up."
governorkang: (This is fun / Go fish!)

"I noticed you weren't comfortable with the girl," Kang chuckled. Some females just weren't the maternal type. "Well, technically, it isn't mine. It belonged to someone from my old regiment; you could say I'm looking after it for him until he shows up. And yes, there is real alcohol. Ale, and a drink we call cactus juice."

And when he says tavern, he means tavern in the medieval sense.

"Kid attached herself to me, not the other way around," Trudy grumbled. "And I can't even blame the dog tags, since I was pretty naked at the time."

Trudy grinned slowly. "Cactus juice, huh? Sounds like I can get behind that - tequila and I are pretty good friends, after all. It got enough punch to knock you down?"
governorkang: (Now that's funny / Smirking)

Grinning, Kang shrugged, "She was probably scared and confused, and you were the first adult she saw. Adults are supposed to have all the answers, or at least know where to find them." The little girl he'd aided in Robann had expected him to.

"Never heard of tequila, but this stuff'll catch up on you fast if you don't pay attention to how much you've had," he laughed.

"Yeah, yeah," Trudy said, dismissing the prospect. She knew very well that's why the kid had started following her, but she didn't have to like it. "That sounds like my kind of liquor. Anything that'll get me past the point where I form coherent sentences is okay in my book."

"You sound like someone I could definitely get along with," Kang's grin widened. "Never can have too many drinking buddies."
fieldpromoted: (Oh look a smile!)

[personal profile] fieldpromoted 2010-04-04 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Shit, I'll drink to that," Trudy said with a wide grin. "As soon as I get myself all settled in, I'll look you up."
governorkang: (Having fun)

"Omnicomm's the best way to get ahold of me. The tavern itself is hard to miss, too, if you're wandering around the City; there's a dragon on the roof," Kang chuckled. Trudy reminded him of Huzzad, in a way, with her general attitude.

"Dragon on the roof, got it," Trudy said. "It's not a living dragon, is it? There's only so much excitement I can take on this ship."

Kang was a good guy. Most of the people Trudy had run into were good people, in fact.

[personal profile] governorkang 2010-04-05 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Kang laughed, "No, not a real one. There's no way in hell anyone could ever mistake it for a real one unless they were hammered."

Trudy laughed again. "All right then, as soon as I start thinking it's a real one, that's when you send my drunk ass home. Sound like a plan?" she stuck out her hand, intending to shake on it.

"Definitely," Kang took her hand in his, giving it a hearty shake. "Those are the kind of plans I like."
