'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

Already pleased enough that she'd found Simon, Kaylee couldn't help but search the rest of the crowd for other crew mates. Especially if there was any possibility of finding River or Mal somewhere in this insane jungle of people.

She bumped into someone, and turned promptly to apologize to the man and his...cigarette. "If you're new, you're probably one of the most relaxed people I've seen on this boat already."

Spike blinked. "We're on a boat? I thought it was some sort of bizarre interdimensional spaceship." Which makes... about as much sense. But boats were generally smaller.

"Anyway, it's not like this'll be the first time someone wants me to save the world. What am I supposed to do, panic? Not bloody likely."

"Ship, boat...different people, different terms." Kaylee didn't seem all too bothered by the difference herself. Boats were ships, ships were boats, as long as they had an engine for her to work on she was happy.

She'd heard plenty of Save the World stories from a good number of other crew members already, so his response didn't phase her either. (Really, it was getting harder and harder to surprise people on Stacy...) "Well, 'M glad of it. Saves the command staff some trouble. They've already got enough of it on their hands."

Spike nodded, not willing to argue the semantics of boats vs ships. It didn't really matter to him.

"Who's the command staff, then?" he asked, looking around. "And who're you?"

"Head of it's Kirk," she replied, pointing out the captain in the crowd, "followed by Master Chief and a few others." She'd never met any of the others, though.

Who she happened to be was a much easier question. "Kaylee Frye. On the Engineerin' staff."

Spike nodded. He'd have to go talk to Kirk eventually. "It's a pleasure, Kaylee. I'm Spike. You're an engineer?"

She reminded him a little of Fred.

Kaylee gave a little shrug. "Mechanic, actually. Don't design so much as put together 'n fix." Not that there were many people in the 'verse who knew the difference anyways. "You got any specialties?"

Spike also shrugged. "I fight things, mostly. Pretty good at it."

"Ah, you'll fit right in with most folks here, then. We've got a shiny group, all the way around."
