'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"Put them away," she commanded, voice just as soft and with no inflection of urgency. Sly Knife's scanner flooded one eye with red light for a moment, but she kept the infrared communications on lockdown. Her grip was immutable— even if by some miracle she managed to be killed, it would take a blowtorch to get him free.

This kind of stubbornness was foolish, but it was the best fun Motoko had had in two months, and she intended to draw it out if she could. The thermoptics disengaged at a thought, hissing faintly as they released and the Major flickered into view, her expression faintly joyful, "Put the weapons away, or I'll have to hurt you."

Sly Knife's own cloak rippled and spark as it disengaged, revealing the massive alien creature. He stared down at her - she looked no different to him. He clicked curiously, head tilting to one side. In his younger days he would have tried to take her head off. He was still tempted to simply blast her with his plasmacaster. He eyed her carefully - strange female - and then retracted the blades again.

"Do not do that again, Ooman. Now. Release me."

If Motoko was surprised, it didn't show on her face. Maybe the strangest thing about this place would be something simple, like an ordinary human assassin trying to take a shot at her. There was a good reason the Major's trips through the city were always so brief.

She held on just a moment longer, making sure to leave no doubt between them that she did this because she felt like being magnanimous... And, let go.

"Don't act so surprised," she informed him (it?) smoothly, "If you're going to sneak through a crowd of people, someone is going to take offense."

Sly Knife shrugged at her and turned to go. He didn't owe her an explanation. Besides, if he tried to kill her, he'd just get smacked around by the ship again.
