Sam was still beside himself, so very excited that Jared was actually here. His brother, here on the ship. He couldn't be happier.
So here they were, in his Medbay, having a drink together. "...and so let all of that stew for a while, and it changes into this." He tipped his glass toward Jared's for a celebratory clink. He spun a bit in his chair, about a half rotation, back and forth. "Oh, I haven't shown you the best part." He typed a bit on his console and addressed an area ahead of him, toward the middle of the room they were in. "Emergency Medical Hologram?"
And there he appeared. "Please state the nature of the emergency," he said automatically. "You seem rather relaxed, Dr. Henderson."
Sam glanced over to Jared with a look that plainly said: Is this cool or what?

Let it never be said that Stacy was not benevolent toward her crew. Truth was, she loved them, to the point of risking her own life. And thus, she'd been busy for quite some time... silently she had worked, trying to get into her own archives and cross-checking references. She was going to help boost morale and give them a gift - show them people they cared about, wake them up for a single day as proof that, yes, they were there, close by. She was going to give them a day to awaken, to see their loved ones again and to go back, knowing that their time would come one day or another...
It sounded so beautiful and poetic on theory. In reality, it could become a true disaster. Spent of most of the energies doing this task, in complete secrecy to keep it as a surprise, Stacy's never-ending work was only stopped by its own Warden program, which pulled the plug on the ship's search to find everyone at least someone they cared about. That, unfortunately, left her not only spent of energy which was dangerous in itself - but it also meant that some of the crew would be deprived of seeing their close ones, no doubt leaving some of them bitter.
The road to hell has always been paved by good intentions.
Stacy's voice was decidedly more cheerful than normal as she spoke to the entire ship.
|| Transmigration Nine crew, please report to the Observation Deck. I have a gift for you. ||
She repeated the request, and waited.
Once most of the crew had made their way there, she continued.
||I have been working on a...|| she couldn't quite find the proper word and settled on the next one, || present for you. While many of your records are locked to even me, I have worked to find the pods which contain people close to you. I...apologize if some of you may end up with no one, it is not my fault I...|| suddenly Stacy's voice seemed a little less cheerful, ||The Warden stopped me before I could finish everything completely. Please do not feel like I targeted you specifically, I really did my best to get as many of your friends and companions awake as possible for today.||
Now was the hardest part to explain.
||And that is, unfortunately, all that can be given to you. Because their avia are not yet ready to be properly awakened, they'll be here for a single day. Please make the most of it, so you can feel better and continue our mission with renewed vigor . I hope that meeting those that care about you will give you a boost of energy that you all need.|| Spoken like a mother who put her children before herself. ||But if you can...look at it this way, it means that they are here, and one day I will proudly awaken them properly when they are ready.||
Her voice was becoming strange as she went on. Not static-like, but raspy, like someone who was running out of breath.
||And I am afraid that I must go offline for a few hours due to the strain this is putting on...me...|| It sounded really painful for her to speak, completely spent and only going because she wanted to at least give them a proper last word. ||I...hope...you...will...be...happy...a...lit--||
For the first time in a long while, Stacy was completely silent.

After the battle, the warriors' task was over. Their job, for now, was to rest and recover for the time being.
The healers' job, on the other hand, was far from over. Some exhausted from the battle, others rotating in, they took to their bay and continued the process of treating the wounded. Some patients were free to leave in a few minutes, while others would have some time (or quite some time) on the cots. Their mission: relax. Stay as still as possible.
Unfortunately, the temptation of so many familiar faces alive and about would ultimately prove to be too great. Keeping track of this group was going to be a third task all its own.

This was it. Endgame. The crux of the battle, the turning point, those crucial moments that would decide if the crew won or lost, that would decide if the Ohm would reign victorious or go running with their chitinous tails between their legs.
Did the crew have enough grit to win? Could they defeat a full Ohm fighting force?
With the flagging confidence of the GIA forces, it'd be up to the crew to turn the tide.
And one of the crew would pay the ultimate price to make sure the others walked away alive.

The day had finally arrived for her big event, and Starfire couldn't be happier---or more nervous, actually. She was certainly not an expert on the inner workings of a prom, but it couldn't be too terribly complicated, right? As long as the people could eat, dance, and talk, it should be a reasonable success. The City didn't have weather as most people knew it, but it was nonetheless a beautiful day - warm weather with a nice breeze, Stacy's sun-equivalent shining in the sky... almost as if it was reflecting the emotions of at least one of the ship's crew. In the middle of the Park, someone had set up a little white lattice archway amongst the hedgerows, decorated with ivy and roses and lilies that looked remarkably real (if they were, in fact, synthetic). In front of the arch were several rows of white chairs, more than enough for anyone who cared to show up.
It was a beautiful day for a wedding.
And frankly, Nanoha needed it. After the chaos and confusion; the rage and terror on Galilee... she didn't think she could ever forget that horrible sense of loss and emptiness when she'd thought that Fate was gone, if only for a day or so. But this would go a long way toward exorcising those demons - a day that she'd dreamed of for years.
Of course, she couldn't go greet anyone yet. She was in her wedding dress, after all! These things needed to be proper.

Medical Bay had a habit of being busy, and upon the return of some of its members (including the head of Medical Bay) from Galilee, things only got busier. Most the tech needed to be pieced out, but some of it was usable. Discussion of making those small technologies replicable and training people in Med Bay in how to use them was only one topic on anyone's mind.
After all, there'd been a Pod Pop in the interim, which could mean more people coming into the Medical Bay. Not to mention, discussing ideas of how to work better as a group, in light of events on Galilee.

At some time during the night, while some were still sleeping, and some were awake and wandering around the hotel common rooms--a massive explosion rocked the hotel the group was staying in.
Simultaneously, perhaps by lucky chance, or perhaps on purpose, a number of the group was mysteriously teleported away. Specifically, the ones missing were: Fate, Jr., Kang, Superboy, Zouichi, Howard, The Doctor, Lash, Nightwing, Zetta, Dr. Henderson, Rory, Ruffnut, and Sakura.
The problem was that the group likely wouldn't be able to tell from the vaporized common rooms and bedrooms that those particular individuals hadn't been in them when the explosion hit.

Howard's not a team player. Back in the days of class group projects, he almost always ended up obstructing progress more than he helped with his bad attitude and critical eye, if he and Orc didn't just pressure the other kids into doing their work for them. And in the FAYZ, his role on the Council essentially devolved into aggravating Astrid and heckling public speakers.
So it's struck him with some surprise that he actually seems to fit in with the other Medical Staff so far on Stacy. Granted, he's been attentive and professional, for the most part, rather than getting in the way, so that probably helps. But more than that, the other staff seem nice, even friendly. Not trustworthy, but no one is. After over a year in the FAYZ, where friendliness was even more scarce than food and everyone was starving for both, it's a strange experience to him.
Howard's pack is empty, for the moment. He's just finished dropping off another bag full of food at his Warehouse on Stacy. Having purchased a cat (for nefarious purposes), some illegal substances (for fallback purposes), and nearly a hundred pounds of cheap bulk food (also for fallback purposes), he's only got a few credits left. Perhaps it's time to buy something more useful than backup resources during his last night here.
He sees the Sampire and Anwei each in the crowd an waves to them, gesturing for them to join him.

((I'm going to try to do these every once in a while, to allow people to come with whatever issues they have, if necessary. That is, if this gets any action. And y'know, Sam is starving for CR. So if you want to actually thread your physical, or if your character just wants to stop by and check out the joint, or decides they don't like the idea of a vampire being in charge of everyone's well-being, I'm game for anything.))
Sam was keeping busy, that was for sure. Between filing reports on everyone's physicals and evaluating the skills of the volunteers that had come forward, he was still up to his ears. And Alex's reaction to the news had not gone well. So that was weighing on his mind as well. But he had to keep focused.
So there he was, at a computer terminal, notes spread over his desk, making sure the reports filed by others were up-to-date and accurate. Theoretically, he should be able to delegate some of this work, but he didn't want to ask more of everyone than they had already been taking on.
Thus what he needed right now was a distraction.
|
Alex made his way down to med-bay, wondering what new information Sam might have uncovered after all this time. He tried running over in his head the tests that Sam had recently given him and what might be different, but in truth, he had stopped paying attention to the tests themselves and just listened to what Sam needed him to do as he talked with him.
He yawned and stretched as he walked into med-bay, far more comfortable than he had been with the place his first time. He was still loosing sleep because of his missing friend, but even that was beginning to heal, however slowly. He briefly wondered if Sam could give him something that would make sleep easier for him before calling out, "S-Sam? You c-called me?"
|
Once again it was time for Alex and Sam to so some more tests.
Tests, tests, and more tests.
He might be getting sick of them, but they were getting closer to understanding why he had his powers. Which meant he was closer to getting rid of them, with any luck.
He wandered into the medbay, looking around for Sam. What he didn't expect was to see a shadow surrounding Sam once again. He drew closer, and swallowed. "S-Sam? Wh-what's wrong?"
There was no need to ask if everything was all right when a tier two shadow was telling him otherwise.

He'd known as soon as she'd left. Queen Nanashi was no longer walking around the ship. She had, no doubt, been put back into a pod. He didn't feel any excess alarm from her, she'd simply disappeared, as though she'd fallen asleep. That being the way it was, he knew what he had to do. He put away his project, and headed for Fletcher's room. He'd be able to find him easily with the connection, but he'd told Fletcher wouldn't do anything, and he was going to hold to his promise.
"Hello?" he called in, with a bit of hesitation. "Fletcher, are you here?"
|
((Anyone with healing magic and doctoring types are welcome here! Don't be shy now!
Also, if you're bringing in injured, be sure to be clear about the state of the injuries!))
Sam had made sure that all of the preparations for a large influx of patients was ready. This was the sort of thing he did on a daily basis. And he had every intention of deputizing as nurses anyone that seemed capable as they came in with victims. And he was prepared to quarantine those Dr. Sera had deemed necessary. After seeing the state Nanashi had come back in, he was prepared for anything.
|
it didn't take long for Nanashi to get to Sam's lab. She moved at normal speed, brushing past any of the slower residents of the ship. She stopped at the door, and knocked before venturing in.
She looked rather upset as she walked in, but more hurt than angry.

Marco kept a close eye on Eva has he herded her into the Science Department. Kang had told him that they had a device which could scan for Yeerks - soon, he'd know for sure whether his mother was free.
He tried not to think too much on what would happen if it turned out that she wasn't.
Marco also wasn't happy about having to ask some random science geek to scan his mother, but he had to admit that he'd probably have no idea how to work the device himself anyway, so he resigned himself to looking around for someone to ask.

Bleary-eyed toil brought results, and there was a cure for ROM-199A. Now the problem came with administering it. Down in the city, the makeshift strike team wielded modified tranquilizer rifles and each of them had 12 cure rounds to use. The infected needed to be struck solidly in order for the cure to be injected-- they were instructed to aim for the chest, though a shot in the arm or leg that hit and stuck would work as well. It's like paintball, except with deadly pathogens! Meanwhile, up in Quarantine, those who didn't feel comfortable with shooting their crewmates in the face chest and lower extremities were charged with curing those who had already been subdued and contained. That was more like tag than paintball, except with deadly pathogens, of course. (ooc: If you signed up here or here, fire away. If you want to participate but didn't sign up, fire away. It was official, come down from the ship herself; there was an outbreak aboard the Transmigration 9.
Naturally, the Contagion Containment Laboratory was unusually crowded-- patients in quarantine bubbles, panicked crew members asking questions, medics and scientists hard at work in desperation to find a cure.
