Welcome to Orongo
Once those who decided to go along on the mission were gathered on the Obs Deck and had time to go over the mission briefing, the detachment procedures began.
As with the missions before, the doors to the Obs Deck closed before it detached itself from Stacy, tethered by a massive umbilical cord. Those who had been on missions before would find the experience familiar if still somewhat unpleasant, but for those of whom this was their first mission, the sudden lack of gravity and lurching feeling as they entered the atmosphere would come as a surprise.
Thankfully though, the ride was quickly over as they landed safely on the planet below, the gravitational dampeners of the Obs Deck gently dropping the crew members back on their feet. One of the walls opened up, forming a ramp to the ground below. There was a sudden, slight gust of air as the door opened as the thick air rushed in. Even so, the air felt quite warm and refreshing.
Looking outside, the crew would see the bright yellow sun looming overhead, quite close in comparison to the sun on most planets. A handful of small, silver clouds dotted the blueish purple sky.
Ahead of them stood a rather impressive looking plateau, surrounded by a tall, ornate stone wall which was covered in tribal markings. Directly ahead was a large gate through the wall, with several small stone buildings in front of it. Beyond the gates, a larger settlement could be seen. Surrounding the plateau and covering the surrounding region were numerous strange, blue and purplish trees and plants.

She closed her eyes and looked up, letting the feel of the place take hold.

Not that it was a bad thing, of course, but it really wasn't helping the mystery of the "rituals of judgment" they were supposed to be going through.

Re: Stepping outside
But honestly, that would've just ruined the fun.
As his legs went out from under him, the Doctor instinctively reached out to check to make sure Jamie wasn't floating off on him, grabbing onto an arm and then a shoulder. He might've even caught a touch of kilt as he alternatively tried to get a better look of the rushing descent through the alien atmosphere and at the same time make sure Jamie was right where he left him...relatively speaking. The ride was thrilling (he'd even go so far as so say Thrilling, because it warranted that extra capital T) and the Doctor was grinning from ear to ear as they finally landed. His boots clunked back onto the deck.
Straightening his jacket -- bowtie didn't get lost in the journey, excellent -- the Doctor wasn't quite the first one to make planetfall. He didn't mind, sauntering out. Or he meant to saunter out; there was a slight bounce to his step that was too excited to simply be casual sauntering. The Doctor stopped a few yards away from the Obs Deck, inspecting first the detached, huge pod, and then the ground, scuffing at it with his boot after taking a good look at the buildings in the distance.

Re: Stepping outside
Her lips pursed. She'd do her best to be better prepared next time. Then she turned her attention back to the rest of the disembarking crew, watching how they reacted.

Re: Stepping outside
He couldn't help but smile. He never had been much of an outdoors person, but having real sunlight after months of being on the ship was nice. It felt the same as it did in the sensoriums, or even in the city, but this one is real, and his mind knew the difference.
He didn't let down his guard completely though. It was a mission, and those were supposed to be dangerous.

Re: Stepping outside
Everybody's lucky that she didn't take somebody apart when the gravity went, but she got that instinct under control quick enough. Something she was grateful for when the doors opened and she stepped out, breathing a sigh of wonder. "Oh!" She put her hands over her mouth, just staring. "Oh, it's beautiful!"

"This is wonderful!" she exclaimed. It didn't matter that she had only the merest tidbits of information as to the why. She was just happy to have solid ground beneath her hooves again.

"Well, I'm sure I'll get used to that," she muttered to herself while waiting for the doors to open to the planet that they were going to go on.
"Oh... Oh, wow! It's gorgeous here!" she exclaimed while a grin was plastered on her face.
Seraphiel cawed, definitely agreeing with Hoshi. It almost looked like Heaven itself.

Nokosi peered in the distance for a few long moments and then snapped his fingers once. The large wolf jumped up with more than a little excitement and began following his master as he walked off towards the thicket of trees.

Looking around, once he exited, everything looked peaceful, at least. The odd mix of aliens didn't really bother him, or at least it didn't appear to.

Re: Stepping outside
It feels a little bit like Zokez II, which means something's bound to go wrong. But...maybe the Doctor's right, and things won't be so bad. He'll just have to wait and see.
After a quick glance to see where the Time Lord's gotten off to, Jamie turns to watch his surroundings while waiting for the Doctor to finish up his look around, tucking his thumbs behind his sporran as he does so. He might be here a bit.

Looking to the open sky she stretched her wings a bit, forcing herself to fold them once more, she would not wish to be rude in taking to the air without knowing what they were to do.

Re: Stepping outside
Allenby let out a whoop, breaking into a run as soon as there was enough room to do so, executing an inelegant but joyous backflip and then springing high into the air. Yeah! Finally, finally, she was standing on a real, honest-to-goodness planet again!
She landed, a little more heavily than she would have if this was Earth or one of the colonies, but her huge smile didn't budge a centimeter. She looked around at all of the other spaceships and strange alien people. She couldn't wait to find out what these rituals were and get exploring!

"Ewww. too much cute."
Re: Stepping outside
It was a spaceport. A real, honest to god, spaceport. He pressed his face closer to the view port, face slack with awe and wonder. A spaceport. A spaceport full of aliens. He felt like he'd gone to sleep and woken up in backwards world where everything was RIGHT.
Another planet. He was going to another planet, not just seeing a reflection of Iniss's memories or hearing about it. He was actually going to another planet. "Amazing."
Perfect.
Like every dream he'd ever had as a kid of exploring the universe.
Re: Stepping outside
Warm Welcome
"Greetings!" he called enthusiastically with a deep voice. "Welcome to the city of Orongo, surrounding the Sacred Mount. I am Domalai, and I shall be overseeing your stay here."
He sees one particular person in the crowd, and beams widely.
"Brother Cargn!" he says, "I see you're here with yet another group. Still, it is good to see you again, my friend."
