Welcome to Orongo
Once those who decided to go along on the mission were gathered on the Obs Deck and had time to go over the mission briefing, the detachment procedures began.
As with the missions before, the doors to the Obs Deck closed before it detached itself from Stacy, tethered by a massive umbilical cord. Those who had been on missions before would find the experience familiar if still somewhat unpleasant, but for those of whom this was their first mission, the sudden lack of gravity and lurching feeling as they entered the atmosphere would come as a surprise.
Thankfully though, the ride was quickly over as they landed safely on the planet below, the gravitational dampeners of the Obs Deck gently dropping the crew members back on their feet. One of the walls opened up, forming a ramp to the ground below. There was a sudden, slight gust of air as the door opened as the thick air rushed in. Even so, the air felt quite warm and refreshing.
Looking outside, the crew would see the bright yellow sun looming overhead, quite close in comparison to the sun on most planets. A handful of small, silver clouds dotted the blueish purple sky.
Ahead of them stood a rather impressive looking plateau, surrounded by a tall, ornate stone wall which was covered in tribal markings. Directly ahead was a large gate through the wall, with several small stone buildings in front of it. Beyond the gates, a larger settlement could be seen. Surrounding the plateau and covering the surrounding region were numerous strange, blue and purplish trees and plants.

"Wow, did you hear that? Marriage. Crazy, huh?" he said casually. "Sure wish Stacy hadn't told us we had to respect the local customs. Guess we'll just have to follow along."

Re: 3/3
Oh, right, could be because her feet are literally like pure stone right now.
Why, yes, she's quite stunned and shocked by the "wonderful" unexpected news just thrown at them.
As much as it would be a fantastic idea to escape... the darksoul mess and the possibility that someone else would likely snatch him away leaves her grounded.
So. He'll probably be surprised when the arm at her side tentatively reaches and gently clasps his sleeve between her thumb and index finger.
Resolute, her lips pressed in a firm line and eyes stared forward. "Stay close."
no subject
"Right. Close." Long pause. "But at some point, I do need to go find someone to marry."
Her reaction had the potential to be explosive, and maybe even deadly, but it would tell him something.

And you will listen to their dumb song with her and you will endure.
no subject
Awkward, shy, and nervous, but pleased. There was a slight flush to his cheeks, a pinkness that was probably doomed to bloom into a darker blush depending on what she said next.
"Soo...am I staying right here next to you through both rituals?"
no subject
"Problem?"
no subject
That was exactly it. He had the exact opposite of a problem with it. There went that blush, with perfect timing, and his hand slipped into hers, fingers gently brushing against her fingers.
"I would--I'd fake-marry you any day of the year, Astrid."
S'truth.
"I'd even--"
He cut himself off, that blush going a deeper red, his freckles standing out blotchily on all that red skin, and looked away, not planning on finishing that thought.

Pretending she didn't hear that last part, Astrid cleared her throat and shifted awkwardly where she stands, averting her eyes the other way simultaneously, scratching her cheek sheepishly. "Ye-yeah, fake. I seriously doubt their... bonding rituals are what we're used to, anyway."
This can't be that big of a deal than how everyone is assuming, right?
"...let's—let's do our best, all right? For the mission."
no subject
The blushing didn't stop and wasn't going to stop anytime soon. He wasn't going to stop holding her hand anytime soon, either.
