Meet and Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicomms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicomm. New crewmates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that), a large afro attached to a smaller girl, and talking ponies among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in. But thankfully this time, there's a system that was set up to aid the new crew members with a few more experienced ones.

Clef wandered around the Obs Deck, trying to look friendly and helpful. He assumed by default that almost anyone needing help would overlook him due to his small stature and child-like appearance, but there were always those few who were more likely to trust him for exactly those reasons.

Edward, annoyed at the crush of people on the deck (almost all of whom were tall enough to block his view), stood his briefcase up on its end, standing on top of it to get a better vantage point of the crowd. "Al! Alphonse!"

Someone as big and conspicuous as his little brother should stick out like a sore thumb, even in this room of weirdos. "Colonel! Teacher!"

No dice. Not even his stupid old man or the Homunculi. "Gimme a break," he grumbled, shading his eyes as he continued to peer about the room. "All that preparation and someone else blows up the world first?"

Carson notices this, having come down from Medical to try and meet a few new people, and wanders over to the newcomer.

"Excuse me... If you're looking for someone, maybe I can help?" He smiles slightly. "I'm Dr. Carson Beckett, by the way."

Kanoe Zouichi (Welcoming Committee)

Zouichi stood at one end of the room, with an improvised Welcoming Committee tag clipped neatly to one of this front pockets. Smaller crowd this time. He was handing out Omnicomms with an information guide preloaded onto each of them, greeting the new crew members as they passed by.

"Kanoe Zouichi," he said by way of introduction. "Anything I can answer for you?"

Gerald Tarrant (Council)

Tarrant swept his gaze over the crowd. Tall, slender, and aristocratic, he seemed to stand apart from the milling crowd. His red-gold robes pooled on the floor beside him; a thin gold band swept his hair neatly back from his forehead. He smiled at those who passed by, gave a polished, sweeping bow to those who stopped to speak with him -- the soul of courtesy, of course.

Well, bowing is a little bit outdated where Sabriel is from (what with almost all the Royal Family being deeeeeeead), but nevertheless the gesture of respect is comforting to her, and she finds herself drawn to the handsome man with the coronet. She returns the gesture, curtsying in the precise way a Young Lady of Quality is taught.

"May I ask your name, sir? I'm afraid I'm somewhat overwhelmed."

Freshly clad in a plant suit Doug had the look of a haunted man. A hunted man. Paranoid and timid he kept his back to the wall as he moved slowly along the edge of the room trying to watch everyone at once.

When he had been sane...or if he could call it "nearly sane" he had hated crowds. They made him nervous, made him anxious. Then when he was the last man standing in Aperture he had found himself desperately longing for the company of other humans.

Now that he was faced with hundreds of humanoids he had to wonder if maybe being alone with only his jumbled fractured thoughts, the turrets and his companion cube had really been so bad.

Wide eyed and tense he felt his tongue along the back of his teeth as if trying to remember how to use them to talk. Could he focus? Could he make conversation if asked? How long had it been since he'd last woken up on Stacy? It had only been one day but he was sure it had happened.

...hadn't it?

He wasn't sure when he had sat down but apparently he had. He was on the floor, back to the wall, arms around his legs trying and failing to pull himself together. Unfit for society.

"I need my cube..." He moaned in quiet anguish.

Or maybe "cube" is like "astromech?" ... No?

Whatever the case, this human looks like he might be broken. Not injured, just... not quite okay. Artoo rolls up to him, maintaining a polite distance, and offers a questioning beep. You okay there?

Sabriel | Old Kingdom Trilogy

Having been notified that her belongings would be in Weapons and Possessions, Sabriel made her way there first. She is beyond uncool with the living plant outfit and much prefers the illusion of safety that her mail coat affords her.

She reappears on the Observation Deck with her bells in their bandolier, her sword, her coat and her cloak, feeling slightly more at ease if completely perplexed. The people around her don't bear the slightest trace of Charter magic, although Sabriel can feel from her own Charter that there must be a stone nearby. The smell of Death is still around her and thick on the ship, and somewhere in this crowd she can sense at least one Dead. The voice in her head from above, this 'Stacy', is a senseless nuisance compared to what she could learn from the people around her.

She glances around at the crew members, one hand on her sword and the other reaching slightly forward as if to shake hands with the first person she sees.

Karis doesn't pay many of the newcomers much mind. She's mostly here to see if anyone she knows has shown up. And to mock any of the newbies who break down crying or something. You never know. So she doesn't give Sabriel a second glance as she brushes past her in the crowd, shoulder to shoulder, hand on the haft of her axe to prevent the blade or hilt from hooking on someone or something.

But for a moment she meets the young woman's glance, eye sockets filled with a malevolent, sickly yellow light.

Kang | Council

One of the figures there to help answer questions was quite noticable in a crowd that was mostly human. Being seven feet tall, Kang (the dragonish guy with wings) could easily see over most people's heads, and if that wasn't enough, he had wings and slightly bronzy scales, and distinctly reptilian features. He had his nicer dark blue tunic and kilt on, sans armor, though he did carry his sword and dagger on his belt, just in case. Sometimes the people that woke up were a bit... hostile.

As usual, he scanned the mass of people for any hint of others of his kind, or non-draconians he'd been on friendly terms with back home. He made sure to keep an eye out for those that weren't fond of draconians as well.

"So, what exactly are you doing here, Councillor?" Yeah, Ildraniath was going to bother Kang a bit.

There was only a one in four million chance that anyone he knew would be up here.

Those odds had been calculated from a very optimistic estimate of the number of pods Stacy currently housed, and they were probably extremely optimistic. In fact, if he allowed himself to calculate out the exact odds, his chances of finding anyone he recognized - let alone liked - probably edged somewhere into the territory of a billionth of a percent.

However.

R2-D2 was not about to let that deter him from going and finding out. After all, he had been in worse situations as far as sheer probability was concerned and the unlikely possibilities had, in fact, been what transpired. In effect, he was programmed for hope - and that programming was what had him rolling around the Observation Deck on his treads and alternately whistling and making awed woo sounds.

Surely he would at least run into someone interesting this way.

"Uh-oh," said the book, looking slightly down at the droid from its position in the arms of a vapid, if cheerful-looking, girl. "This mobile trash can is trying to escape."

Sally Acorn

It was rather late by the time Sally finally worked her way up to the Observation Deck. Shuffling between pods and staying out of sight had taken longer than a walk up the unobstructed walkway would have, and she'd taken the time to search Weapons and Possessions for anything she could build into a self defense tool. She armed herself with a small knife, pulled her worn vest over the rather uncomfortable plant-based uniform, and headed up.

Upon arrival, Sally snatched the first omnicom within her reach, quickly rolling behind an easily fortified position behind one of the meat couches to read and review the data. She would much prefer NICOLE's familiar voice, but the computers provided here would have to do.

The first thing to do was to inform herself: in an unfamiliar situation, the worst thing to do was to arrive ignorant. Sally devoured the information, first with interest, then with a growing sensation of fear.

Mobius was gone.

Their whole war had been futile. In the grand scheme of the universse, Robotnik was nothing---a thought that had comforted her at night before, but was all too serious now. A much bigger threat had undone all their work and killed countless Mobians. These humans had lost much as well.

They were now under the somewhat oppressive reign of a computer system, forced to run missions across the universe. And they had no say in any of this. The best news in the entire nightmare of information was that her Freedom Fighters were 'probably' alive, and given the uncertainty? She didn't consider that much of a bonus.

With all that information accessed, she wouldn't make any further progress hidden away in her little hole. She'd have to face her fellow prisoners, the humans (and others, she saw, though it was too far to tell if any were familiar to her).

Sally took a deep breath to steady herself, climbed onto the back of one of the meat couches to bring herself to eye level with the others, and searched high and low. Surely there was a good place to start.

"Hi there!"

If her efforts at reaching eye level had failed, it was because the pony greeting her was hovering in midair effortlessly, giving a friendly smile down. "Welcome to the ship!"

Sally looked kinda grumpy, so Rainbow thought a friendly hello might help with some of those (comPLETEly justified) negative emotions.

Jade Harley | Homestuck

And then, one very lost looking girl. Jade was no stranger to spending time alone, but ever since her dog Bec became less of a furry companion and more of a galactic entity that she eventually sort of absorbed, the word took on a new kind of meaning. Here, staring at herself in a reflective surface, and surrounded by all kinds of tall, intimidating people and creatures, she felt very alone. She was at least glad to be wearing the plantsuit the ship had supplied, and was likewise glad to have her glasses back. She focused on the dog ears twitching on her head. Another reminder of Bec.

But she was brave. She could handle this. She was, after all, technically a god. Though it seemed that despite her best efforts, the ears were all that remained of this transformation. She might have to start from square one.

Jake was on the Obs deck again - mainly to see if anyone had shown up again. Rachel. Cassie. Marco. Anyone. Being the last one left (well, with Tobias of course) felt wrong. But among the crowd, there was a girl. A girl with dog ears - and she looked a bit lost and a bit forlorn. And something about her reminded him so much of himself and the others all those years ago.

"It's kind of overwhelming, huh?" He asked. Couldn't hurt to try and make her a bit more comfortable. God knew he could've used someone to say a kind word or help him figure out what had gone wrong when he'd been tossed into an interstellar war.

Yeah, Cole doesn't exactly read through any more of the info after he sees what basically amounts to, "CONGRATULATIONS, YOUR UNIVERSE AND EVERYONE YOU LOVE IS DEAD!!!"

"No, no, nonononono. No. No! NO! This is not happening, I did everything right, I freaking did everything I could to save him! This has to be bullshit! This has to be bullshit!"

It was supposed to be over. He was supposed to be done. For a brief moment, you might see electricity coursing all over him. As though he's about to explode! And then...

And then, he collapses to the floor. No tears yet, but the look on his face may make him seem a lot older than he is.

"They could be lying. This could just be someone playing with you. You're just dreaming.", he thinks to himself.

And yet, he also began reflecting on the choices he had made in Empire City and New Marais. The sacrifices he had made, the people who were dead because of him or that bastard Kessler. That all of his struggles and challenges, all his hopes...

That no matter the outcome, it was all now pointless.

"Kuo. Nix. Trish. Zeke."
The companions and loved ones who, at best shared his fate, or at worst, were truly gone.

"John."
The man who had been the Beast had never truly held ill-will toward humanity, even destroying Empire had been an accident. The man was simply going with the option that would probably have millions dead one way or another, but at least save what was left.

"Everyone."

"You okay there, son?" comes an older man's voice; if Cole looks up he'll see a weathered-looking man in his... oh, probably mid-fifties, not all that far away. "You're new here, aren't you."

And then there were snacks!

So how well was the cafe doing now that they were minus a chef? The answer was...still pretty good. Mindy was very good at mirco managing her time. For today, knowing that it was pod pop, She had arrived with a cart full of small things to eat, alien snacks, sandwiches and strips of a pretty delicious meat she's braised most of the day.

Now was the best time to meet and greet: feeding people.

Jade was suddenly aware of being hungrier than she possible had ever been. She made a beeline over to the cart, trying on a tentative smile.

"Is this for us?"

Mashu spent the majority of her time poking and prodding at her plantsuit. Not only did it feel weird, and interesting, and weirdly interesting, but it was also the first clothing she's ever work aside from the ones she used back in Midas, so the change was both thrilling and confusing!

The young looking girl could be found floating around the deck, not really talking but she was definitely out and about, looking curiously at everything and everyone. Personal space had no significance to her, she was out to see everything she could!

Lina frowned, poking at the buttons of the omnicomm - she's not really sure how the thing works. She's never seen this many buttons for something in one place, much less on something so small. The ring was interesting, but equally confusing.

She was rather grumpy with Stacy - the clothes that were waiting for her in the equipment lockers were just her headband, earrings, and her dagger-carrying belt. Despite being covered by the plantsuit, being reduced to this much gear left her feeling naked - the fact that the plantsuit was rather form-fitting didn't quite help, either.

Edward, meanwhile, was grumpily adjusting his trademark coat. In a minute, maybe he'd check to see that all his travel gear was still in his briefcase. In the meantime, though, it was time to find some answers.

His duties aboard the Macross Quarter had led to his missing the last pod release, however in his roll now as acting commander he stood once more on the Observation deck, towering over those around him at over eight feet in his gleaming silver combat harness.

Despite his alien appearance he had the bearing of authority and of one who was well versed in a position of military authority. With his proposition approved the new task force would soon be formed, his gaze sweeping across those gathered, both new and old for potential recruits.

And, with that, the SPARTAN is just going to storm straight up to Rtas 'Vadum, not caring about who gets in his way. When he gets within grabbing range, Jorge is going to go straight for the Elite's throat.

There's a 7'4" human, clad in his plantsuit, wandering into the observation deck. The plus side to being so tall is that he can survey his surroundings, the bad side? He sticks out like a sore thumb...

He has something clenched in his right fist, a chain dangling from his fingers, as he looks around.

Well, he didn't look like a Space Marine. Scratch that: he did. Ildraniath frowned, hands clasped in front of her. Just what she needed. Another religious fanatic.

"Please tell me you're not about to start spouting off about the Emperor and xenos and heresy," she says to him.

Ildraniath, for the record, was a slender, tall woman with pointed ears and a rather strange strange bone structure.

One itty bitty 13 year old kid, in the starter suit handed out to him by the ship. Nervously rubbing his arm, biting his lip, and doing everything pretty much short of turning invisible to hide in the background. Not feeling too confident or calm about this whole situation, which turned to those baser instincts of 'gotta hide' and 'gotta run'.

Nowhere to run to, though, so he was stuck walking out.

An alien spaceship. Home millions of miles away.

Great. Like he didn't have enough troubles on his plate before this.

Edward looked over his shoulder, spotted another stranger. Well, might as well ask.

He held up the Omnicomm he'd been given, albeit in a mildly irritated manner. "You know how to work one of these?"

In her locker, Naoto had found the materials needed for binding, along with her signature hat and coat. The tight-fitting suit still didn't make her feel very comfortable regardless, but she would work with what she had.

For those who didn't know her, she could have easily passed off for a young boy. While it wasn't her intention as before, Naoto did feel more comfortable this way. Habits were hard to change, after all, even with the encouragement of friends.

It felt strange to be alone again. Once she would have welcomed this, but now...it was different. They had done so much together and to know that their world was gone it was--no she shouldn't give up hope that easily.

She stepped into the Observation Deck quietly, observing those around her without saying any word. A detective's work was always look and see before speaking, and she was already taking mental notes about the crew, who appeared to be leaders and all the strange creatures that she could have only dreamed of before.

She needed to find out what had happened. What was the status of the war, who was awake and who was gone - how long had she been gone?

She clenched her fingers on her omnicomm until the fingertips whitened. She desperately wanted to go to Medical, to Engineering, to look for people right now. Instead she deliberately relaxed herself, and set one eye to reading while the other scanned the crowd.

From that crowd burst an elf clad in plate mail, charging that way at speed! Only to stop a bare two feet away with a fist listed.

"FOR THE GLORY OF AZEROTH AND THE SIN'DOREI!"

Yes. He still remembered how she'd greeted him when he came out of the pods, after all this time.

What were all these things all around him? They looked like monkeys, but without any hair. Or tails. Was he the only pony around here? Where the heck was Ponyville? Where was Sweet Apple Acres? Where were his sisters and Granny Smith?

Not really a pony of many words, Big Macintosh opted to walk through the room like a background pony and see what he could learn from observation.

Shepard ran a hand over her plant suit, still not entirely comfortable in the garment. Better than nothing, but the way it clung to her body made her feel more like an exotic dancer than a soldier. Especially without her pistol. In an unfamiliar environment like this... she wanted that gun.

At least she had her omnitool. That was better than nothing.

The red-haired woman looked around. No familiar faces in the crowd, but... She was with her before... whatever happened that brought her here. She had to be here somewhere, too.

Mordin wasn't expecting to see anyone. He'd really just turned up to see what he had missed. And there she was. A woman he'd gone to hell and back with, someone who had earned his respect. It was only natural that she'd be here, in this situation, he supposed.

Laying low was hardly Shawn's preferred social mode, but on the other hand, covered in slime and then hastily clothed by tentacles in something that had a pulse was not Shawn's preferred way of waking up. So really this was already starting as a day of disappointment.

His irritation at not being nearly as in control of his situation as he would have liked was quickly being overshadowed, though, as he noticed a couple of very significant things. Among these were that the dragon-guy was an actual dragon-guy, not a dude in a very convincing suit, and he had already gathered enough visual evidence to reasonably assume that at least some of the human crowd were superheroes.

The plantsuit could turn out tolerable. If only he could find Gus in the crowd.

It was funny, the little things that bothered her right now. She was clean now, and clothed, so that was a big improvement. But she hadn't worn pants since she was a very little girl, and the plantsuit felt strange on her body, no matter how well it fitted. Her hair tumbled down her back loosely, instead of up and out of the way like it usually was. But her locker had at least contained her leather blacksmith apron, which had made her feel better. Maybe it wasn't the same one; maybe it wasn't even leather. She wasn't going to ask. She'd put it on, immediately feeling better when the weight settled onto her shoulder.

She was uncertain, but so many people were smiling and being friendly that she couldn't help but respond with the same. As for her feeling that perhaps she really wasn't supposed to be here, she was tucking it away for later. She was going to make the best of this situation.

It was probably for the best that she hadn't read about the destruction of her planet yet.

Clef gasped. Her hair was down, and she admittedly looked a lot different in green, but there was no mistaking that apron. Or those eyes. Even with a whole throng of people blocking the view, he knew it had to be her. Knew it this time - it couldn't just be some wishful trick his mind was playing on him.

"Presea!" he called out, pushing his way through the crowd to meet her.

Now that she was clean, clothed, and had some information, all that Ezri needed to feel complete was a mug of raktajino.

...No it wasn't. In fact, what she needed was her uniform and the station or at least a familiar face of some kind. What she'd gotten from the lockers was her communicator and... not a lot else, really. The plantsuit felt too much like like a full-body undergarment, without something on top of it, and the survival guide did just about nothing at all to reassure her.

Also the fact that apparently? There were a lot more universes out there than just the one parallel to her own. How likely was it that someone from the station--or anyone else from Starfleet--could be found here?

Well... she'd look, anyway. There was no point in just standing around being nervous.

Barbara's semi-watchful gaze noticed the woman. She didn't look as nervous or timid as some of the other newly awaken people...and things (because there was a dragon).

The time traveler went over the greet her anyway. Who knew what could be going on with some people.

"How are you feeling?" Barbara asked, a warm smile softening her features.

She once considered to change into her favored human form for the sake of space, if nothing else. But she disregard that idea. This ship took her away, have the audacity to tell her such lies about home being gone, that she was saved by the goodness of this ship.

No, she will show this ship and everyone inside of it just what they just got themselves into. Crematia never hides her nature. It's a tight fit, sure, and she nearly accidentally step on a few lesser beings.

It was said in a very calm, placating voice, though, and his movements were slow and gentle.
