Meet and Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicomms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicomm. New crewmates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that), a large afro attached to a smaller girl, and talking ponies among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in. But thankfully this time, there's a system that was set up to aid the new crew members with a few more experienced ones.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies. Big brother/sister, there will be a thread for you as well!]

The correct response is 'a threat', but Jorge has more tact than that. "My apologies, ma'am..." It sounded female. "I was merely curious. They don't have... People like yourself where I'm from."

His tone is professional and careful. He doesn't know what sort of threat Sally could pose to him.

Sally relaxed, but only visibly. It wasn't wise to let her guard down, but over-defensiveness wouldn't achieve the desired results either.

"There aren't very many like you where I'm from either," she agreed. "I'm Sally, one of the new recruits. And yourself?"

"Chief Warrant Officer Noble Five, UNSC SPECWAR Team 3. Jorge, if it's easier. I got dropped today, too."

He tilts his head slightly. "So, there are no humans where you're from?" Guess who's sounding disbeliving.

"Nice to meet you, officer," she added, some uncertainty in her voice. Did his title even apply here yet? Surely they'd have to talk to the governing bodies about this.

"There are...a few," Sally answered carefully. "The Mobians just don't have much contact with them."

She looked down, seemingly reluctant to elaborate.

His rank may not apply, but he'll be damned if he's leaving it behind. It's a part of him, just as being a SPARTAN was.

"Mobians? I take it that's your race?"

"Yes! We lived peacefully in the forests and the city for many years, under my father. There was a coup---most of us were captured and imprisoned in the worst way. But there's got to be more of us out here!"

Like on her father's list. Maybe they were rescued, but she doubted it. "And...your friends?" she asked, trying uncomfortably to be polite.

"No clue." Jorge sounds unconcerned, but there is a flicker in his eyes.

Surely, if these... Daligig wanted help in some war, genetically modified super-soldiers would be a necessity? Still, he hasn't seen any...

"So, you're the daughter of a leader, huh?" Topic change. He doesn't want to dwell on that...

This was an uncomfortable subject. Sally wouldn't allow that to rule her, though. She straightened her posture, practicing the Acorn Royal Gaze. Loss was not to be dwelled on so much.

"Yes, but he's been missing for years. I've taken his place. It seems that we both failed to protect it, though."

Same as everyone else in this prison.

"Same as everyone, ma'am." Proper polite tones, until he knows she's a princess, that is.

"If what we've been told is true."

[acornprincess]

"I think it is," she sighed, thwacking the side of the little device. It was no NICOLE. It couldn't predict her probable thought patterns and comfort her.

"So we have a big job ahead of us. I don't even know where to start."

"There's always a big job ahead. And, trust me, you never know where to start."

Speaking from experience, here. The UNSC Mission Details were always... lacking.
