Meet and Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicomms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicomm. New crewmates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that), a large afro attached to a smaller girl, and talking ponies among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in. But thankfully this time, there's a system that was set up to aid the new crew members with a few more experienced ones.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies. Big brother/sister, there will be a thread for you as well!]

"It's a machine that stores information. That thing you're holding is one," Allenby said. "They probably meant the survival guide thing... press that highlighted word there." She pointed to the appropriate spot on the screen. "It's got some informative stuff in it, though you learn a lot more from time on the ship."

"So it's like...a book without pages?" Or like the Claire Bible, she thought, then pressed the button - and the screen filled with text. "...that's kinda weird."

"Yeah, kinda! Yup, there's the survival guide. You can ask me any questions you got about it too, since it's kinda old and the guy who wrote it got shoved back into the pods a while ago."

Yup, 'guy.' Not, you know, 'captain' or anything. Allenby took a step back. There was bad news in there, might as well give the gal a bit of space to absorb it.

Lina's silent for a while, her face neutral as she reads - though if Allenby's perceptive, she might notice the whiteness in the sorceress' knuckles from how hard she's gripping the omnicomm.

"...so. All that stuff my friends and I did, the hoops we jumped through to save our world so many times. Just...undone."

As a fighter, Allenby did look at hands, and she did notice. Not really surprising, even if the impassive face was odd. It was a hard thing to absorb, though.

"Yeah... it's awful, but so far it seems like it's true," she said. "But don't go thinking that's the end, 'cause it's not."

"Of course it's not..." Lina answers, her voice tipping into an angry tone. "BECAUSE I'M GONNA TEAR THESE STUPID JERKS APART UNTIL IT'S FIXED! I SANK TOO MUCH TIME AND EFFORT INTO STOPPING A BUNCH OF NASTY CRAP FROM WRECKING MY WORLD TO LET THESE JERK BUGS COME IN AND UNDO IT ALL!"

Allenby covered her ear with the hand that was not in a sling, so at least half her hearing was saved. But the yelling actually put a grin on her face. "That's the spirit!" she said, pumping her fist in the air once Lina was done. "I ain't gonna let things stay as they are either. All that hard work going to waste just ain't right."

"Now then," Lina adds, calming down a bit. "When do I get my hands on these jerks?! I've already heard terrible stuff about the food here, and I got adventuring to get back to! The sooner we wreck 'em, the better!"
