Summary: Volanz goes searching for pillows. The best solution is obviously to sneak around in buildings.
Warnings: Nothing. Well, maybe getting hit with a shield. Bruises at worst.

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicomms and comm rings. They are also told they must read information about their current situation and a survival guide with their new omnicomm. New crewmates might see a tall dragonish guy with wings (but don't call him that), a large afro attached to a smaller girl, and talking ponies among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in. But thankfully this time, there's a system that was set up to aid the new crew members with a few more experienced ones.

The Kohaku River ran diagonally through most of the City, past Central Park, winding its way between Castle Wyvern and the Bathhouse and Awesome World, and finally ending somewhere in Escherville. Its pristine waters would therefore be an excellent vehicle through which to introduce a convenient new source of protein.

Or so Tarrant reasoned when he began the project. Now, about a third of the way through, the fry he'd introduced into the river earlier (or at least the ones that survived notice by the native carp) were growing rapidly, establishing themselves and their territories.

[The river is open for fishing! The fish species Tarrant is aiming for are the following:

• ayu/sweetfish
• trout
• bass
• catfish
• whiting
• croaker
• freshwater eel
• minnows and an assortment of small prey fish

They are not all exactly like their Earth analogues, and some may come from alien fish species with unusual colors, fin shapes, habits, or other physical attributes. With every successive generation, however, they will become more and more like their target species in behavior and appearance, barring a few changes to make them better adapted for life in this particular habitat.

Ever since the medical briefing on the comms, the medical bay staff has been preparing for an influx of appointments for physical evaluations, as well as a few walk-ins. After that, the hunt will be on for those who've been skipping such appointments.

A few of the staff members are going about their regular duties, expecting patients or simply biding time at the coffee machine until they're called on.

The recent discussion on the comms had reignited Jaime's boundless curiosity and a desire to learn more about the ship that he and so many others found themselves riding across the multiverse. And what better way to find out more about the ship than to look at the hallowed command deck? There had to be something useful here, right?

Jaime seated himself at one of the various stations and peered intently at the panel. The chirruping buzz of Khaji's voice vibrated against the back of his mind.

"Yeah. Right. Good idea. Let's just push buttons on the bridge of the super powerful meatship." Despite his sarcastic rejoinder, the young man reached out and slowly pressed a switch.

Nothing happened.

"Not that one, then." He pressed another. Toggled a switch. This might go on for a while.

Somehow, he'd gotten himself into a bet. He didn't even really remember how it had happened or how they had gotten on the subject. But then suddenly the bet had been accepted and it was too late to back down, and now he was sitting at the very same Mess Hall table Sakura and the others had been sitting at the other day while they'd been discussing the source of the ship's mystery meat food supply.

To be fair to Sakura, he'd picked a shade of pink to match her own, natural hair color. But the results were... jarring. Also, hopefully no one would recognize either of them.

Summary: Wunderkind show the Trolls around the City and discovers that discarded concert venues are apparently the PROMISED LAND. Perfect place to build a hive?

Hydroponics was Volanz's new favorite place, but it didn't really have a lot of competition for that title. The whole ship was disturbing and weird and unpleasant. Hydroponics, though, had fake sunlight and plants and animals running all over the place. It was still very, very strange and wrong, but it was just a little bit like home. That little bit meant a great deal to him.

It had taken him a while to finally get around to the disused laboratory near the entrance to the area. He didn't know what he'd find inside, and nothing the crew had recorded gave him much information about the place. So it was that Volanz stalked into the abandoned area as if he were walking into a known trap, shield arm ready to pummel anything that might've jumped out at him.

It was dead quiet and after a few minutes of suspicious prowling around and squinting at corners yielded nothing to hit, Volanz relaxed. He clambered onto a chair that had plainly been built for someone a good deal larger and frowned at the bank of buttons and switches and sliding things in front of him. Nothing was labeled in a way that made sense. Lots of abbreviations, if there were labels at all, and he couldn't quite pick out the meanings. What were they for?

He shrugged to himself, tapped out a quick omnicomm post, and tried to decide which he was going to poke first.
