[open] there's a place downtown where the medics hang around (hint: it's medbay)
Medical Bay had a habit of being busy, and upon the return of some of its members (including the head of Medical Bay) from Galilee, things only got busier. Most the tech needed to be pieced out, but some of it was usable. Discussion of making those small technologies replicable and training people in Med Bay in how to use them was only one topic on anyone's mind.
After all, there'd been a Pod Pop in the interim, which could mean more people coming into the Medical Bay. Not to mention, discussing ideas of how to work better as a group, in light of events on Galilee.
[ ooc: Log's open to mingling for medical workers or those interested in learning; it will have one subthread designated for nursing training with Rory, another for those wanting to make IC connections for further training, and one for general discussion of things those working in Med Bay may want to see. ]

The will to learn!
First aid classes? Looking to delve into something deeper when it comes to healing? Talk to those in medical bay to set up contacts and get going!
[ ooc: if anyone wants to use this as a specific place to establish IC contacts for learning more about any particular aspect of healing/the medical field/first aid. ]

Of all the talents he possessed, healing seemed like the one he could best make use of. Here on this massive ship, with ludicrously powerful heroes and gadgets the Technocracy would, if they ever saw it, need to change its collective underwear... somehow he didn't think punching and kicking would turn the tide of war.
So on hearing of a meetup, he wandered on in, hoping to find someone to talk to about joining.

"Are you looking for lessons too?" she asked.

"Hello," she said, offering this stranger a smile. "My name's Sakura Haruno." The name order most people appeared to prefer was finally coming almost naturally. She only paused for a few seconds before introducing herself anymore. "Were you here for first aid and healing lessons, or are you looking to sign up for nursing instruction with Rory?"

Re: The will to learn!
For now, she looked around to see who she could talk with about learning as well as joining. Just having one class didn't seem to quite cut it, all things considered.

And the people in Medical were interesting too.
Training with Rory!
Do you want to get involved in nursing? Talk to Rory today!
Re: Training with Rory!
So upon reading about nursing, she went straight to Rory, someone she though jamie might have mentioned as being one of the Doctor's companions.
Really, she DID have to meet him someday soon.
Re: Training with Rory!
"Kaya, I think?" He rose slowly from his desk, smiling as warmly as possible. "You're a magical healer, aren't you?" He rather liked Sakura's idea of mixing the two disciplines, practical nursing with magical healing.
Magic, after all, seemed to have a limit. Some people on the ship couldn't have it used on them, and from what he'd observed, some of the magical healers had their own internal limits beyond which they couldn't use it. Practical skills were useful so long as you had the right tools and were able to stay on your feet. "I'm Rory Williams." He offered his hand. "Seems a bit off that we've worked in the same department and haven't met properly yet."

"I was wondering if I could sign up."

Idea Box!
[ ooc: Can be used as an establishing point for bringing up IC concerns, where specifics may later be worked out OOCly. ]

Sakura looked around at the people here in medical. "Learning to cover each other and work under fire feels like it'll be even more important going forward. Definitively saying we will learn feels like something I want to do, or need to with anyone willing. Getting used to being on smaller ships during simulated exercises, what injuries we will need to be prepared to deal with, how to cover each other while getting to the injured and getting them off field..."
She waited for any word from the people around her.

Massage Club?
"Hello everyone, I'm Yuna," she almost whispered, bowing reverently. "Yes, I agree that we should further practice healing on the battlefield and learn a variety of techniques. I was hoping to add one, actually..."
Yuna paused for a moment, peeking around to see if anyone was listening.
"I used to work at peoples' muscles to relieve their pain, especially after long battles. The books here say that it's called massage, and done in a number of ways. Do you think it would be helpful to study while I'm off-duty? I know muscle pain's not nearly as severe as blood loss or organ damage, but I'd like to give it a try. I really enjoyed making people comfortable."

Still, there was no rest for the weary. Sort of. "Does anyone have a copy of our last inventory here?"
no subject
"I have it. How would you like it organized? Terran alphabetically, by frequency of use, or by when it was last restocked?"

Howard's been quiet since getting back from Galilee. Bad enough to get raked over coals in front of others, although thankfully Med Bay coworkers had been kept to a minimum. Bad enough to nearly get shot getting all this stupid equipment that may have ended up useless. Bad enough to get used as pawns in someone else's war.
Given that his usual demeanor is sarcastic and critical, his coworkers may appreciate the dampened attitude.
He stays off to the side, poking one of the machines they stole.
"I'm pretty sure this is just a high-tech water cooler."
no subject
She comes over and peers at the machine. Not the most impressive trophy, to be honest. "It's got a lot of filter-feedback displays for a water cooler, unless the water is really bad. Anyway, even if it isn't medical, Engineering can use it for testing when it gets to be time to power things up. Better to burn this out than a regenerator."
While she talks, one eye darts for a second to peek at Howard's workspace. She definitely wants to see his face when he does go over there.

Overall, while it had been a messy end, he knew that wasn't the fault of the crew. So he had no issues with using the tech once they got it all sorted out.
So with a half-gone pouch of blood hanging from his lips, he typed away, looking tired, dirty, a little bloody, and his clothes were a little shredded and a lot messy, but there wasn't a lingering scratch on him.

"Hey, uh, just curious Dr. H but how long have you been working there?"

"Planning to see if you can get your clothes fixed up?" she asked, quirking up an eyebrow as she looked up from some of the new patient files she was reading. She was more comfortable with the idea of the computers by now, if Anwei, Sam, and basically anyone from more modern worlds still were far better with them than she. The data pad was her only area of excellence, that and with diagnostic bits and bobblies around Medical Bay. Lessons with Jeka had sent her into new realms of understanding of the Omnicomm recently, but all of this was kind of secondary to looking over the head of the department and wondering when he'd get around to sleeping. "Or are we holding a contest for who can look worst for the wear after Galilee?" A half smile.

Recordkeeping (Doc McNinja and Sakura)
He scrolled through a screen of notes, whistling to himself, until the shadow of another member of the staff fell over him.
He looked up.
"Hi, you need this station for something?"
no subject
Something, anything that didn't have to do with Galilee.

She wasn't sure who to talk to, where to begin, how exactly to apply to join the staff. Funny thing about the Earth being destroyed, her bloody resume was still there. She scanned for a face she recalled, maybe Dr. Faiza, Anwei, or that sweet girl Miranda. Anyone to help her at this point.
"Yeah, just look a bit more helpless Martha," she sighed. At this point she would just observe. The bigwigs usually made themselves clear.

He couldn't quite recall her name at the moment, though. Rory watched her from his position tucked behind his desk, considering rising. His feet still throbbed and made him limp if he tried walking around too long, to say nothing for the current condition of his ribs. It might help if he bothered to rest for a little while, but there simply hadn't been enough time. Too much to do and too few people to accomplish it.
"Ah, Hello. Are you looking for something? Or someone?" He smiled ruefully. "It's all a bit mad at the moment, if you're looking for one of the doctors, I think Dr. Henderson is around here somewhere. I haven't seen Dr. Hussain since we got back from the mission."
