Neuropathy sat to one side of Engingeering, dark save for the blue glow of the monitors on all sides displaying brainwaves and technical readouts. Above, trolleys hanging from the framework are sillouetted against the sporadic glow of neurons firing like so many shooting stars. Who: Eleventh Doctor and River Song Where: Space Walk Summary: The Doctor checks up on River post-Master mind-screw ( Read more... )
|
River had caused quite a stir with her failed attempt to kill the Doctor. The backlash from the Master had been substantial, but it had only kept her in line for a day or so before she was at it again. She was constantly going off to do her own thing, shaking off the Master's controlling attitude towards her. She was feeling particularly rebellious when she'd snuck into the TARDIS this afternoon. Hoping to catch one of the Doctors off guard and toy with them like a cat would a mouse. Even if the Doctors had successfully managed to exile her from the TARDIS, they would be hard pressed to keep out a woman who had the entire TARDIS database downloaded in her head. She would always be able to find a way in.
A little known fact was that River was in a downward spiral. All those long years of training, of nursery rhymes about killing the Doctor, even her instinct to kill - all of that was waging war against the emotions the Master had buried when he'd messed with her head. Her mind and body told her to kill, but every time she worked out the courage, her heart lead a full on rebellion. It was confusing and it was slowly driving her insane. That, along with a lot of other complicated things, all stemming from what the Master had done to her head, meant she was highly unstable right now. Even more so then usual.
She sat comfortably in the jumpseat, one leg crossed over the other, hands folded behind her mane of long blonde curls. Her eyes glued to the door, watching and waiting.
|
River had been told to wait, to be sneaky and sly, to follow the carefully laid out plan that the Master had come up with. He wanted her to turn the Doctors against each other and then strike in the midst of all that lovely chaos. Unfortunately, the Master hadn't taken into account just how impulsive River Song could be. Sure she was psychotic and wholely the weapon that Madame Kovarian and the Silence had programmed, shaped, and raised her to be, but she was also impulsive. She wanted to finish off the Doctor now, not five months from now.
That's why she'd devised a plan of her own. By sending out a message on the psychic paper.
Meet me at the tower, I want to tell you everything.
xoxox
Short. Simple. Impossible for the Doctor to resist. Of course, he might wonder why she wanted to meet up at the very place she had been kidnapped and held against her will by the Master.
Now she waits for him to show up. Silly Doctor, so trusting of River Song. He really shouldn't trust her. Hadn't she told him as much? There was a gun in her hand and two bullets with his name on them. One shot to kill. Another shot to prevent him from reaching his next regeneration.
What on earth had she seen in him in the first place?
| |
|
River hadn't been acting quite herself lately. It had started with the spring cleaning business with all the Doctors and steadily snowballed into this. River Song, the illustrious and utterly dangerous weapon forged from the Doctor's own dear companions to kill him before he could interfere with the Silence's plans, was once again back to her old self again. It's not that her memories were erased, she could remember everything quite clearly, it was more like a switch had been hit on her emotions. She knew of her past actions with the Doctor, but didn't understand her behavior. Why should she fight so hard to protect the man she was destined to kill?
The Master was going to help her do it and my, he wasn't too hard on the eyes either. She couldn't rightly understand why she had taken up for the Doctor all of her time on Stacy, when the Master was infinitely more interesting.
So she waited for him in the only place that held the most memories for them. He knew where to find her, of course, and River knew he would come.
Perched in the very chair she'd handcuffed him to, one long leg thrown over the other, she waits.

Who: The Doctors, their assistants and friends, some visitors [Open], and the Master. Where: The TARDIS, the blue police box located in the Hangar. Summary: Somebody's made a mess of the old ship. The Doctors are very unhappy. Time to dig in and clean up! Also, there's some necessary hashing-out of titles and ownership between three men who happen to be the same person. And a bit of a problem arises... Warnings: Possibly mild swearing on Nine's part. ( He didn't like the transport tubes. He was liking what he saw here even less. ) - Tags:!location: the tardis, !status: open, barbara wright, eleventh doctor, gerald tarrant, hououji fuu, ian chesterton, jamie mccrimmon, ninth doctor, river song, the master, the tenth doctor

Hasn't it just been...so lovely and quiet on the ship? No constant jabbering and tinkering and sonick-y whinging and explosions and...no? Really? Well, that's a disappointment, it's probably been far more exciting on and off the ship than running around in an endless rat maze after...admittedly very delicious looking cheesecake.
He might have to visit the sensoriums at some point just for a vague sense of accomplishment. He's not a rat, he just likes a month or so of effort to be for some greater purpose or another...and at this point he's wiling to make that purpose 'cake' if it's between cake and 'purposefully wasting your time, sir'.
Anyway, that's about how his thoughts go when he's abruptly spit out of that endlessly looping maze and into one of Stacy's (almost vaguely now) familiar hallways. What comes out it much more to the point.

They were hot on the trail of the Doctor's body. Or at least, River suspected they were. Judging from the trail of flower petals they'd followed from the TARDIS in the general direction of the city. Something or someone had obviously stolen the Doctor's body and planted his mind or 'soul' for lack of a better word in her body. She wasn't quite sure why she'd been chosen to house his soul, but here they were. Fumbling along at an uneven gait and would he please just stop trying to control her body! She's tired of nearly running into walls, tripping, and tumbling.
Yes this whole experience must seem amusing on some cosmic level. It's hardly amusing for her. Really, she suspects the Doctor is starting to ponder why River Song can contain him without her own head exploding. She doesn't even have the least bit of a head ache to show for the Doctor's soul being housed inside of her for the past few hours.
Still, they're trudging along, still in search of the Doctor's body.

The dreamworld. The personal world that touches both the person's inner soul and memories of times gone past. the strange, the bizarre, the cruel, the comedy, it has a range of colors and emotions. Usually, very personal. Even the mind doesn't remember all of them.
But what if that soul is now shared with another? A windowed view into the deepest part of the body that possibly neither of them ever wanted to share, as one whose body they are currently drifts into sleep and gets carried off by nightfall, the other lives to see the dreams, one by one, even the ones the host body doesn't remember by morning.
How will this affect each other? Or will it just be a problem or things they'd rather forget?
[OOC - This is completely optional, and was a fun little idea that I figured if anyone else wanted to join in and have their characters see each others dreams or talk to them inside, are welcome too. Enjoy ruining each other's images. Again, if you don't want to do it, don't worry, it's all good. It's a good way of sharing innermost secrets and old memories. Following you awakening and talking with a few of the members through the communication systems by way of the three kind people who had awakened her, Nezaitben realized how the crew was stuck in a terrible mess. So many of them felt sad and depressed. Considering the entire ship, it wasn't too hard to see why. The next day, there had been an unusual amount of magical flowers spreading all over the ship. Nothing that damaged the controls (she might be naive in the way humanoids were, but Nezaitben was no fool either) but they were found in the most unexpected of places. Her own awakening area was now blooming in a flower paradise, the wooden palace standing proudly on top, the smell and pink cherry blossom strong enough to carry through most of the central city area where most people resided. Yet the ship was still sad. This would not do. That night, or what passed as a night for in the ship, Nezaitben took to the 'sky', letting pieces of her own essence fall on top of the sleeping populace, or those that were not sleeping finding themselves feeling the need too. Enveloping the ship into a peaceful slumber, she searched their dreams. The powers granted to her by the pantheon of gods in her homeworld allowed Nezaitben to weave a series of dreamcatchers giving her the ability to see those whose hearts connected true. These noble souls would do. Lead by example had always been her philosophy. She would give them a great gift - communication with each other in a single body, allowing them to share everything together. Their two soulcatchers were woven together that night into a single, grand ones, hanging in the garden's trees. A few minutes later, the empty husks of the bodies that weren't being used showed up at her palace. With a smile, she welcomed them like her own children and began to dress them for their task. That morning, some of the crewmen would wake up to a strange surprise...and that would just be the beginning of a long, strange misunderstanding and young gods trying too much to please everyone. [OOC - Just a few rules. Keep in mind the listed rules. You can all start your own threads of waking up in the bodies of others. If you feel like leaving a 2nd post for other people to intact with them, start a reply to your own first post with OPEN header. Settling into a new home after life in the TARDIS was, Amy imagined, fairly hard for anyone who had ever traveled in the little blue box. Already she missed the space that the TARDIS offered, the amenities that always seemed to be right there when needed, the reliable people constantly in and out.
But she and Rory needed space, especially as a couple soon-to-be-wed, and while Amy was quite fond of the influence and diversity the Doctor and other companions brought to Molly’s life, a TARDIS, with all its halls and swimming pools, was not going to be the best of places when Molly began crawling. A smaller space would be better for the small family, at least for a little while.
It didn’t mean Amy was finished with her box just yet, though. Topsy-turvy as it was, she still returned to see just what of their leftover belongings she could find to bring to the new house. Today was one such trip. It wasn’t hard to find a babysitter for Molly, and her day had opened up just enough to allow a quick trip up to the TARDIS to check on things. With a few bags in hand--just in case something good had turned up since her last visit--Amy headed through the halls of Stacy toward the Hangar.
Time for some shopping.

The Doctor had been following her.
It was something she had noticed right away, but like many things, had decided to ignore for the past few days. Whenever she was in the console room, she'd always turn and find him there. Trying to make himself seem busy. Whenever she went to the library to read the book he had left her, she'd see him making excuses to venture to and forth from the library. She counted five trips yesterday! The only place she seemed to be safe from him was her bedroom.
She knew exactly why he was hovering. After all, she'd been kidnapped by the Master and she wasn't sure just how much he knew of what went down. The Doctor, in his own way, could be such a worry-wort. River was hardly made of such delicate stuff. But to withstand the mental invasion of a Time Lord, she guessed the Doctor had reason to worry.
River had moved on fairly quickly. She'd gotten to humiliate the Master, after all and it was hardly the first time she'd been kidnapped. She really didn't want to have to have this conversation with him, but he was starting to get on her nerves.
Especially when she rounds the corner from the kitchen and bumps right into him.
"Doctor, is there a particular reason as to why you seem to pop up everywhere I go?"
She arches a brow at him, dropping one hand to her hip.
|
River's eyes slowly began to open, and oh, this felt familiar. Similar to that time she'd been drugged by Madame Kovarian. A sluggish feeling, a general feeling of drowsiness. Yup, she'd definitely been drugged. Again. Judging from her unfamiliar surroundings and her current state - handcuffed to a chair - she'd been kidnapped too. Ugh, what was it about her that just screamed 'kidnap me and brain wash me?' The last thing she remembered, she had been getting ready to do some exploring of the ventilation shafts and then - Nothing.
"I generally prefer to be the one doing the handcuffing. It's just not as fun this way." That's River for you. Even when in a potentially dangerous situation, she always had a cheeky remark or two up her sleeve. "Do I get to meet my captor?"

Let it never be said that Stacy was not benevolent toward her crew. Truth was, she loved them, to the point of risking her own life. And thus, she'd been busy for quite some time... silently she had worked, trying to get into her own archives and cross-checking references. She was going to help boost morale and give them a gift - show them people they cared about, wake them up for a single day as proof that, yes, they were there, close by. She was going to give them a day to awaken, to see their loved ones again and to go back, knowing that their time would come one day or another...
It sounded so beautiful and poetic on theory. In reality, it could become a true disaster. Spent of most of the energies doing this task, in complete secrecy to keep it as a surprise, Stacy's never-ending work was only stopped by its own Warden program, which pulled the plug on the ship's search to find everyone at least someone they cared about. That, unfortunately, left her not only spent of energy which was dangerous in itself - but it also meant that some of the crew would be deprived of seeing their close ones, no doubt leaving some of them bitter.
The road to hell has always been paved by good intentions.
Stacy's voice was decidedly more cheerful than normal as she spoke to the entire ship.
|| Transmigration Nine crew, please report to the Observation Deck. I have a gift for you. ||
She repeated the request, and waited.
Once most of the crew had made their way there, she continued.
||I have been working on a...|| she couldn't quite find the proper word and settled on the next one, || present for you. While many of your records are locked to even me, I have worked to find the pods which contain people close to you. I...apologize if some of you may end up with no one, it is not my fault I...|| suddenly Stacy's voice seemed a little less cheerful, ||The Warden stopped me before I could finish everything completely. Please do not feel like I targeted you specifically, I really did my best to get as many of your friends and companions awake as possible for today.||
Now was the hardest part to explain.
||And that is, unfortunately, all that can be given to you. Because their avia are not yet ready to be properly awakened, they'll be here for a single day. Please make the most of it, so you can feel better and continue our mission with renewed vigor . I hope that meeting those that care about you will give you a boost of energy that you all need.|| Spoken like a mother who put her children before herself. ||But if you can...look at it this way, it means that they are here, and one day I will proudly awaken them properly when they are ready.||
Her voice was becoming strange as she went on. Not static-like, but raspy, like someone who was running out of breath.
||And I am afraid that I must go offline for a few hours due to the strain this is putting on...me...|| It sounded really painful for her to speak, completely spent and only going because she wanted to at least give them a proper last word. ||I...hope...you...will...be...happy...a...lit--||
For the first time in a long while, Stacy was completely silent.

The trip down revealed that Taleen was going to be of several things, none of which were pleasant. Arid, pale with a light dusting of red from the rocks, and yellow-white grass that extended in plains all the way towards far off mountains . There was a giant gash in the land near the orb landing area, which resolved itself into a massive canyon as the party drew closer. Spider webbing out across the top of the canyon were signs that a civilization had once flourished here. Traces of broken pillars and half submerged buildings, as well as what looked like a downed ship that had embedded itself in a massive building. There was no movement visible amongst the ruins now. As the dry wind blew through the stonework, it would became clear that they were walking into a mass graveyard.
Not somewhere you'd want to spend your vacation.
For some people, this was going to be a field day.
According to the scans and what little records they had, there hasn't been a sentient being around for hundreds of years. The majority of native wildlife had moved out of the area, seeking refuge. The land looked dead already. In the sky above, several specks of light twinkled in the sky, growing bigger with each passing hour. In a few days, it will be raining fire.

After the battle, the warriors' task was over. Their job, for now, was to rest and recover for the time being.
The healers' job, on the other hand, was far from over. Some exhausted from the battle, others rotating in, they took to their bay and continued the process of treating the wounded. Some patients were free to leave in a few minutes, while others would have some time (or quite some time) on the cots. Their mission: relax. Stay as still as possible.
Unfortunately, the temptation of so many familiar faces alive and about would ultimately prove to be too great. Keeping track of this group was going to be a third task all its own.

This was it. Endgame. The crux of the battle, the turning point, those crucial moments that would decide if the crew won or lost, that would decide if the Ohm would reign victorious or go running with their chitinous tails between their legs.
Did the crew have enough grit to win? Could they defeat a full Ohm fighting force?
With the flagging confidence of the GIA forces, it'd be up to the crew to turn the tide.
And one of the crew would pay the ultimate price to make sure the others walked away alive.

As the battle raged outside, those remaining aboard Stacy had their hands full preparing for the incoming flood of refugees.
Positioned near the Bleed-Gate orbiting Lirath, Stacy stood ready to receive the refugees. Ship after ship ascended as quickly as they could, some of them making a break for the Bleed-Gate itself while the smaller ships were forced to dock at Stacy, unloading their cargo of refugees before setting off again for the planet's surface again to take on more passengers.
Several small units of GIA soldiers were also sent up to help the Transmigration crew take in the massive amount of refugees, many of whom were tired, wounded, and scared. It wouldn't take long for the ship to begin filling with people.
With the battle raging outside, and the Ohm clambering outside, trying to get in, it would be a tall order to keep all of the refugees safe and calm, but the crew didn't have much choice.

After receiving the warning the Tapestry had provided them, along the order to begin preparations from Councillor Kang, the crew had been getting ready for upcoming combat with the Ohm. Unfortunately, the rather vague nature of the warning they received meant they had no particular way of knowing exactly when this battle would occur. Understandably, this put some of the crew on edge, but at the very least they had some prior warning that they would be facing the Ohm, rather than being thrown blind into such a dangerous situation. Combat drills, vehicle maintenance and armory inspections seemed to be regular sights for the week or so following Kang's message. Not much time to prepare, but the crew worked with what was given to them. Eventually, however, the call came. ||Alert, Alert,|| Stacy called out throughout the ship, ||Priority One message from GIA High Command. All crew members please report to the Obs Deck. [Takes place right after clone plot and arriving back on Stacy. After there] “First sharks and now explosions!” The Doctor held up his ruined sonic screwdriver and turned it in the light. “I’ll have to proof against both, I suppose.” He crossed the Hanger in long strides, expecting Otter Soother Daniel Jackson to keep up. Daniel had held himself rather well during the whole clone thing and what was more, he even saved his sonic for him! The Doctor found himself feeling rather fond of the human right this moment. Good man! Resourceful! But also being annoyingly close-mouthed about what he might have picked up from that encounter with the Other Doctor, which was surprising because he thought he knew humans and if there was anything he learned from all his time amongst them, it was they loved talking almost as much as he did! Questions in particular were their favorite, no matter how obvious or rhetorical or downright silly. Big big fan of the obvious questions. Basically they were a chatty species. Part of the reason why he’d asked Daniel to come with him to the TARDIS. If he was lucky, Daniel would tell him what he’d seen from that clone on his own, given enough time and company. The Doctor was tucking the sonic back into his pocket when they came into sight of the TARDIS. He only paused for the briefest of beats as he took in the fact the old girl’s doors were wide open, positively gaping open! This wasn’t looking very looked out after and he wondered if maybe Jamie’s memory retention was failing thanks to him being an ex-dead man. Clearly the human needed a talking to! He approached cautiously, poking his head inside. Everything in the console room looked in order, if you ignored the suspicious trail of foam cups leading away from the door and a few minute scratches on the glass which he knew for a fact hadn’t been there since he last checked. The Doctor’s lips pursed as he peered about, head weaving as he checked under the control console and then straightened. Where was Jamie? In fact, where were the rest of his friends? “Better have a look around,” the Doctor lied, perhaps too cheerfully. “Long time away from home and I’m afraid River’s gone and organized things. I’m very specific on my organization system, I’ll have you know.” He made a vague shooing motion at Daniel. ((So basically this is thread two, with the Doctor/Daniel/Rory jumping into a TARDIS taken over by the Master. Since the Master can switch up rooms (up to the players in the threads for what's wrong with the rooms) and trap people/shift people around, I guess assume timey-wimey things to allow different characters to stumble into each other? But yeah, I guess do subthreads for characters stumbling and we can subthread different people running into them.
I think we're looking at people in the TARDIS as: Victoria, Martha, The Master, River, Jamie, Doctor, Daniel, Rory, Amy, Eva. If I missed anyone, poke me!))- Tags:!location: the hangar, !location: the tardis, daniel jackson, eleventh doctor, eva, jamie mccrimmon, martha jones, river song, rory williams, the master, victoria waterfield
