Panacea (Operation Shoot 'Em in the Chest and Lower Extremities) [OPEN]

Bleary-eyed toil brought results, and there was a cure for ROM-199A. Now the problem came with administering it.

Down in the city, the makeshift strike team wielded modified tranquilizer rifles and each of them had 12 cure rounds to use. The infected needed to be struck solidly in order for the cure to be injected-- they were instructed to aim for the chest, though a shot in the arm or leg that hit and stuck would work as well.

It's like paintball, except with deadly pathogens!

Meanwhile, up in Quarantine, those who didn't feel comfortable with shooting their crewmates in the face chest and lower extremities were charged with curing those who had already been subdued and contained.

That was more like tag than paintball, except with deadly pathogens, of course.

(ooc: If you signed up here or here, fire away. If you want to participate but didn't sign up, fire away. If you're infected, tag in to your victim of choice and tear those jerks apart before they shoot you in the face chest and lower extremities! THROW-DOWN! Remember, give the newbs and less plot-fortunate first shot. HAVE FUN.)

Sherry hadn't felt a darned thing, still kind of groggy as the sedative she'd been pumped full of was finally starting to wear off. The little girl could sleep like nobody's business, but now that she was waking up, panic was slowly starting to set it.

Where was her mother? And Dr. Sera. She kind of, sort of remembered what she'd been doing, to get into this mess. And... and...

"Mom? Mom! Mom!" She flailed briefly, the movements slow and clumsy.

"Damn this stuff."

Alessa was pacing still, sweating, her face contorted in rage and slackening when she was able to halfway keep it back. Doing this had made her incredibly weakened though, and despite this, her rage would push her against the bubble, dying to infect everyone with darkness and twist them, make them her underlings and have them as mindless minions to patrol Silent Hill forever...

And then she would come to, still infuriated with her captivity and inability to control her darkness.

She hoped someone would come and if not cure her, at least kill her and be done with it. She hated her body being used against her will.

She heard Sherry's yelling but could say nothing comforting: she felt pretty helpless herself.

"I'm here, sweetie," came Claire's voice, relieved that Sherry was, while still drugged, at least coming back into her own. She stood from where she'd been sitting and moved to the bedside, reaching out to smooth her hand over Sherry's hair.

"How're you feeling?"

Kang wasn't as bad as some of his inherently violent and aggressive race, but he did have a bit of a temper; he was just better at controlling it. The rage virus really didn't mix well with him, easily removing that control. Unlike just about everyone else, he wasn't getting chills or a fever; the restlessness, though, had hit him hard.

He paced back and forth in his bubble, a continuous deep growl emanating from his chest, and hissed at anyone that came too close to him.

The Middleman's speech had basically devolved into a nonstop stream of cussing, occasionally interspersed with coherent phrases, though those just served to direct the oaths at people or things.

Einhart was really god damn pissed off right now. And no longer unconcious, so she was busy growling in annoyance as she tried to break free of the containment field. By punching it as hard as she could and blasting it with magic.

Jamie was pressed against the far wall of his bubble - for him, not at all an unusual response to being threatened, but his posture just now didn't suggest terrified submission so much as intent to lunge for the throat of anyone who came too close. He was visibly tense, muscles taut and ready to spring at the slightest provocation, and he snarled at the person entering his enclosure.

"Get the hell away from me."

The other Jamie had finally given up yelling. Instead, he had dropped into a crouched position, glaring out at the room with red-rimmed eyes. They'll not keep him prisoner, not if he has any say about it. Sooner or later, someone would get close enough that he could overpower them and make good his escape.

For now? It's just a matter of biding his time.

Kaylee isn't normally an aggressive person, in any sense of the word, and the last several days have been amongst the most frustrating she has ever experienced. She's tense, angry, and speaking so quickly in Chinese at some points that Stacy's translators aren't picking it up as well as they could be.

She forces herself to behave as she's injected, as much as she wants to snatch the syringe away and stab someone with it. It'll be over soon, a realization that doesn't come without tears. It'll be over soon, and then she can go crawl back into some unknown corner her ship.

Fletcher had a surprising amount of energy for a kid his size, and whoever the lucky one was who had to inject him with the cure had quite a fight on their hands.

...he was still tiny, though, so it probably wouldn't be that hard. Just annoying.

Wanda swirled with mystical energy. Her mental capacity may have diminished considerably, but her powers were innate. In fact, the more her mind deteriorated, the more dangerous she became.

But she was in control, at least for the moment. Glaring at whoever came close to her and yelling periodically. Provoking her was in no one's best interest.

The cure couldn't come fast enough.

Morph-capable Andalites were remarkably difficult to contain, so after his fight with Beastboy (http://community.livejournal.com/trans_9/520086.html?thread=37402006#t37402006) down in the City, Ax had been kept under sedation. And just to be on the safe side, since his primary weapon couldn't be removed without lopping off a limb, someone had strapped padding around the sharp edge of his tailblade. As the cure kicked in and the sedation wore off, it was the padding that he was inspecting with mild confusion.

No, he wasn't wagging his tail, he was just trying to shake the padding off. He'd remember how to use his hands in a moment or two.

With the magic that had been used to subdue him, Devlin was too groggy to rage at anyone.

Besides, as soon as he was injected and managed to think clearly about what he'd done, there would be the problem of anger turned inward.

Tenaya was--mercifully--out cold, thanks to her systems still shut down from overheating. So fighting was not an issue. What might be? Finding flesh instead of metal to inject into.

Hey, random Infected? There's a trained sniper perched on top of a monument of some sort - he doesn't know who, but there's a guy on a horse here - and he's taking careful aim at whatever moves.

Is he shooting at you?

It took a few moments for Cinque to get used to the gun in her hands; thanks to the TSAB's universal ban on mass-based weapons, this was the first time she had ever held one, let alone operated it. But after a few moments of fiddling around with it, she seemed satisfied, loaded it up, and headed down an abandoned city road.

Come on, guys, how threatening can one little girl be?

She'd gotten into suit because it made sense to keep a low profile as Mindy Macready. This was the sort of job for Hit Girl, and she was going to be as efficient as possible. The gun took a bit to get used to: large, a bit clunky, not something she favored. Still, she'd get the job done.

"If you need me lower to the ground, I can do that," she said. "It makes no difference if I'm taking them down."

It might not be terribly impressive to put a gun in the hands of a doctor or a scientist, but when those doctors and scientists are over six feet tall and constructed of armor plating, the situation changes.

Ratchet's come down to the city streets with Wheeljack to put darts into crazy sick people. Who's first in line for their shot?

Weapons had never been James's forte. He was the scientist, the mediator, not the one who went in guns blazing. That was his daughter's specialty. Still, you didn't survive the Wasteland if you didn't know how to aim properly.

He just hoped he didn't end up getting torn apart by the people he was trying to save. He also wished his sneak skill was at 100.
