Sooo...Meet-y

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their number. After the recent revelation, many of them were even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Brainiac 5 and Sensor were set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

Alia Atreides still felt off balance, and confused. She woke up and then everything happened so fast... it was strange and disorienting. The wound on her heart from the loss her her brother was still fresh on her heart, and this wakening made her long for her love, Duncan, more than she could imagine was possible.

Some how, I don't think I'm in Arakeen anymore...

As stepped through the door, accepting her new, strange items, and fallowing the other. Despite her inner confusion her face was a flawless picture of calm and serenity, the eyes that marked her as a fremen, blue with in blue, scanned the other around her from behind lowered lids.

There was confusion, a slight, but relatively handsome man near her was talking about ships and 'sy-lawns', whatever that was. Surely there was no where in the known universe where she would not be known, she was St Alia of the Knife! The emperor regent, ruler of the whole universe...
Then someone in the crowd caught her eye, not even a someone but the flash of spice eyes... but... who's?

Alia strained to look deeper at the people around her, but found herself overwhelmed by the mass of unknown faces.
But then, she could have been wrong.

Ghanima had been sitting by one of the large windows, watching as she always did as the new crew members began to trickle in. As always, she was hoping that Leto would be among those who wandered in.

An Atreides did appear, just not the one she had been hoping for. Alia, her aunt.

Feeling a mixture of emotions, Ghani slowly rose to her feet. Taking a deep breath, she steadied herself and pushed through the crowd, making her way to the Aunt she'd thought she'd never see again.

She wasn't sure what she'd say to her. Would she be the abomination Ghani had last seen her as?

"Aunt... Alia?" Ghani called out softly as she approached the other Atreides. Alia looked so much younger than she remembered.

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Alia caught the eyes that approached her, this strange young woman with sand hair. There was something so familiar about her features but she could not place them consciously, but deep inside her heart welled up with a strange longing for her brother.

Aunt?!

Alia looked the girl over with a harsh eye despite her shock.

"I have but one niece, and she is no more than an infant child." She paused, openly studying the girl with no effort to hide her intent.

So this Alia was from when she was nothing more than an infant - not that she'd been like other infants...

"Yes, I am aware of you having but one niece and one nephew," Ghani's expression softened a little. "I am Ghanima," she told her simply, knowing that Alia would know she spoke no lies. "Though I am from what is your future."

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Alia stopped, the blow of her words shattering her perfect expression. Shock and disbelief covered her features.
She could not even see the future, and yet.. here she was facing it.

"but... how?" The word came slowly from her chapped lips, blue eyes wide at the girl.

Suddenly the fury rose inside of her mind, like a storm kicked up by the flutter of a butterflies wings a thousand miles away. It screamed through her mind, a million voices crying at once.

Your brother traded his life for hers... One voice whispered.

But in the face of her niece she could not respond, she held herself in deadly check.

Sheeana stopped short in her tracks and took in a surprised small breath. Another person dredged up from the depths of her world's history. Another Bene Gesserit mistake.

Alia Atreides. The Womb of Heaven. St. Alia of the Knife. Regent. Preborn. Abomination.

She approached cautiously, readying a diplomatic expression. She parted her hands in the Fremen respectful greeting. "Greetings to you, Alia Atreides."

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Alia returned her greeting with out having even the foggiest idea who this fremen girl was. But most importantly, the girl knew who she was, and that little fact brought her great comfort. Maybe she wasn't as far from Arakkis as she had first thought.

"Subakh ul kuhar."

[identity profile] worm-dancer.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Subakh un nar. I am Sheeana, of Tuono village." And later, Chapterhouse. But that could wait. "You are probably rather disoriented. The information provided to you was undoubtedly incomplete. The captains of this vessel are going to give a more complete briefing, but if there is anything you wish to know until then, do not hesitate to ask me."

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thank you, I appreciate your greeting me Sheeana." Alia watched her, and made it clear she was doing so, but in a passive way, letting aggression fade to the way side, for now.
"Who brought me here? I was under no impression that i had a relocation in my agenda. It is a bit shock, but surely Duncan is here with me. Where is my husband?"

It was to be a surprise then, when her eyes brushed across none other than Muad'dib's sister. This was a familiar face--iconic, still pod-confused--yes, this was Alia Atreides, St. Alia of the Knife, the sister of Paul Muad'dib, aunt to Ghanima, and Abomination. Arha let out a slight sigh and moved to her feet, gathering herself before moving across the space, her bright blue-within-blue eyes intent.

"You have my welcome, Alia Atreides," she murmured, flicking her eyes to meet the woman's. "I am Arha Masaari."

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
What kind of greeting was that? Something about made her draw aback with obvious fury on her face.

"I am welcome where ever I go, child." Alia did not even bother to call her by her name. What an insolent child to address her so. "I do not need your blessing. This is my galaxy." And that she brushed passed the girl, and walked away, her head held high.

And deep inside a voice chuckled lovingly in her ear.

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"It was not my blessing I gave, only welcome when there is little to be had. We are far from the sands of Arrakis. St. Alia of the Knife, sister to Paul Muad'dib, I know your face even as you would forget mine, this too, a rare thing," Arha said, letting her voice carry after the woman. This was not to be an easy thing, then. Perhaps Sheeana might have better luck where Arha had apparently failed. Poor word choice, no doubt. One could not be perfect, after all.

She dropped her hands, but stood there, watching Alia float away. It would not be the first time she had been rebuffed, nor would to be the last, for she was a faceless Fremen, and lost to time itself. No one remembered the silent healer but the sands of Arrakis and the Seitch that would, eventually, share her water.

But Alia would have her welcome anyway, whether she wished it or not, and Arha wished it fiercely.

It was hard to miss the blue-in-blue eyes, they were rather distinctive - and Nanoha knew she'd seen them in passing in the crew before. Still, the young woman had the expression of someone who was a bit lost but who had the bearing to try to conceal it.

Nanoha smiled at her. "Hello," she said, tilting her head to the side. "Are you new here? I'm Nanoha."

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Suddenly- Someone who wasn't a fremen! She was informal and far to friendly for Alia's taste, but she held herself with flawless calm, and smiled softly. It would be important to meet as many as she could, after all she was their empress (or so she thought).

"Subakh ul Kuhar. I'm Alia Atreides." And she said no more, waiting for the weight of her name to sink on on the strange girls. Little did she know, it would mean nothing here, and she was much, much farther from home than she could ever imagine.
starlightace: (Softly spoken)

[personal profile] starlightace 2009-12-02 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, sorry Alia. Nanoha has no idea that the name's supposed to mean anything - but she's pretty informal already. She chuckled a bit. "That's a pretty name. It's nice to meet you, Alia."

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Of course her name was pretty! Silly child.
But when placed among stranger it is better to make allies than enemies.

"The pleasure is all mine." Alia smiled softly, prettily, carefully calculating the movement of even the slightest muscles in her body. "Tell me young Na-no-ha," She formed each syllable carefully, their melody was not one Alia was familiar with. "Where are my men? The priests? My husband? Are they here?"

"Hello, there," Obi-Wan greeted the woman as she passed near her, gaze calm and placidly welcoming. He was shrouded in his Master's robe over the Plantsuit and though the hood was down, and his gaze welcoming it was no less the armor he felt it to be. This woman carried herself like an empress, and it make his smile more sorrowful.

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
And then suddenly, a striking man greeted her, pulling her eyes to meet his. She could not help but notice his firm jaw line beneath the facial hair, his sharp eyes, the way he seemed to float as he moved.
"Hello." Alia smile sparkled, she beamed at him with adoration and curiosity. She always did have a thing for good looking men.
"Subakh ul Kuhar." She greeted him in her Fremen tongue, but did not introduce herself, still assuming she was Empress that surely everyone must know.

[identity profile] jedimacguyver.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Subakh un nar," Obi-Wan replied politely, with a tolerable accent. It was good, then that Arha had taught him as much. He'd never be fremen, but then how could anyone who was not raised there be such?

"I'm afraid that's all I know," He smiled, ducking his head with a warm smile, "I am Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. Welcome aboard."

[identity profile] lightspeed-attk.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Oh hey. More glowy-eyed people. "Hi there! What's up?" Sonic asked, approaching the young woman quite casually.

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Had Alia not been a Bene Gesserit she would have screamed and jumped.
Instead she grabbed her newly bestowed kris knife, and drew it holding it between herself and the frighting blue creature in shoes.

Spacing guild navigators had nothing on this freakish beast.

"I haven't an idea what you think you're doing, but so help me, should you come closer, I'll have you water."

[identity profile] lightspeed-attk.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
"You want water? There's loads of it on the ship. But if you think you're gonna be hitting me with that knife--"

Image

There wasn't even a gust of wind to register Sonic's movement. The wind only came after Sonic had already been standing behind Alia for almost three seconds. "--you better think again. We're all in this mess together, and attacking people isn't the way to go."

[identity profile] restoresbalance.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Luke had been looking for the new presence in the Force he'd sensed, but as he passed this woman, he felt an echo of... something. It felt vaguely wrong, but at the same time very familiar, and he paused, scanning with his eyes mostly shut and his Force-senses extended out until he located its source. Making his way through the assembled people, he stopped before a woman whose eyes were just like Arha's and the others of their world.

"Hello," he said, voice friendly. "Sorry for asking so bluntly, but are you a Bene Gesserit too?"

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
And then suddenly-!
Alia was started by his sudden arrival but refused to let it show on her carefully controlled face.

"Hello." She looked him over, even as he asked the question. Rage instantly build in the back of her mind, but she quelled it only to sharp tongued words.
"I know their secrets, but you will not find my name on the order's list of 'sisters'." Alia took a step back, making her offense obvious.

[identity profile] restoresbalance.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, sorry." Unfazed, Luke smiled at her. "I saw your eyes and wondered if you might be. They're the same as those of a few other women here that I know. Are you a..." he thought back to what Arha said, recalling the word. "...Fremen?"
