Sooo...Meet-y

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their number. After the recent revelation, many of them were even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Brainiac 5 and Sensor were set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

Stand there, before the great windows, staring out in the depth of space. Deep black curtains draped into infinity in ever direction, stars glimmering like diamonds i the folds. Space was always breathtaking.

But as her eyes searched more and more frantically for a familiar consalation or moon, she found none, and his word brought her little hope.
Through sheer force of will she held her emotions in unbreakable check, and instead of rising up into questions, she did what her training told her to do.

Alia sough to catch his gaze, her glowing blue-in-blue eyes filled with confusion and loss.
Her mind reached to comprehend what he was telling, and yet hold her girlish fragility act. If she was alone, having someone to protect her could not be a bad thing, at least till she figured things out herself.

"Then how do we go home?"

"I'm sorry, but there is no home to return to," He murmured. She kept calm— so very like Arha, like the other Bene Gesserit aboard, but he could feel the surge of panic from her in the Force, as surely as his own heartbeat.

Gently, he patted her shoulder, his own blue meeting hers with implacable calm, soft and comforting his expression as the Jedi spoke, "Our universes were destroyed, whole and entire by a race known as the Ohm. That's our mission and purpose, here. To fight against them, and restore our homes, if we can."

Obi Wan's hand came to rest on her shoulder, and Alia could not help but simply look at it at first. He was so concise with his word, even when they cut deep. Alia admired that in any man. Logical... like Duncan.

It very difficult to accept such words, it even more difficult when a million past lives also have to accept it at the same time. She could feel their presents pushing up into her conscious mind, elbowing out her own thoughts so they could house their own. She did the only thing she could do.
Alia turned lay her head on his shoulder, her hands covering her face. At first she was pretending to cry as the voices in her mind filled her ears entirely.
But as the voices fell away, she found the tears on her face where true.
And she a fremen, it was only right to shed water for the dead...

"I had only lost my brother but a few days ago..." Her fear was genuine now, but she held it in, screaming inwardly 'fear is the MindKiller, fear is the little death... Alia knew then she did not only want him, but needed him now.
For now, Duncan would never return to her.

"He may not be lost, just yet," Obi-Wan soothed, patting her back in gentle circles, "There are plenty here that had died in the memories of some, and yet still came out of the pods alive. I am one them."

Still mindfull of her grief, he waited a moment to give her time to collect herself, then carefully pried Alia off his shoulder, holding her own with both hands so that he could look at her very seriously, "Now, you must never lose hope. We can still fight, and we can win. All is not lost."

"Yes yes, you right of course." Alia's finger wiped the tears out of her own eye, and then placed it into her mouth, her eyes wide for a moment, and then looked away.

"Yes, if that if what we must do... then we must..." She stood up straight, but the idea of another war did not give her courage he meant to. She had lived her whole life in war, both as a child, and as an adult. In Arakkis she had fought to stop, and now she was brought to face it. Would her life ever be one of peace?

"I must not fear..."

And then looking out the window again into unfamiliar space, Alia did not study the sky, but her own reflection.

But she was afraid. Afraid of being alone...
And the familiar voice faded into the din of her mind, that rose and fell like the waves of fabled 'oceans'.

"Fear is the mind-killer?" Obi-Wan's lips quirked in a little smile, letting go to give the woman her space, quoting, "Fear is a path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."

Ben simply stared out at the stars. So much suffering, in the clone Wars, in the hearts of those who fought, and died, and most of all in those who were left behind. He felt old and weary— and it suddenly seemed like a hundred days and as many miles between now and waking up this morning, "You're not alone, you know. There are others of your Order here, and many others who are equally lost. We must stand together."

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
Again she repeated herself, this time with a vile over tones.
"They are not my order. They have cast me out, even though it was their hands that created me." Her tears where gone now, in an instant, her sorrow was buried beneath her mask of strength.
Wars, she could fight.
Lost, she could deal with.
But the prison of her own mind, that was another story entirely.

"And I shall never side with one of them..." Her grand fathers words tried to come out of her mouth: Bene Gesserit Whores..., but they did not.
Instead Alia turned now.
"Perhaps this is the future my brother saw, and why i could not see it no matter how i tried."

"As you will," Obi-Wan placated, gently, "But I do not take sides. I'm so sorry, this is all so much, I know. Do you need any help finding your way to a free quarters, or the mess hall?"

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
"If you would be so kind..." Alia paused. "To point me to quarters, this is all quite over whelming, you're right." Even though anger boiled her blood, not at him of course, but his repeated use of their name.
How did he know so much?

Part of her had wanted to ask to see 'His Quarters', but she was to angry to play any longer. To shocked to concentrate.
Water and a bed, and she would be content to lie alone, with the voices in her head.

"Come, let me show you," And again his smile was that diplomatic, comforting thing as he led her away. Obi-Wan was a gentleman, after all, raised in the core worlds, "Forgive me, if I've said anything to upset you."

Well, that was a stupid thing to say.

"I meant...to upset you more than is necessary," He amended with a vague gesture, "It would be quite a feat not to be upset after a day like this."

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
"You've done nothing but been as welcoming and informative as anyone could ask for, and i owe you a debt for that.
Alia walked beside him, she made no effort to hide her hungry eyes, she took in everything she could, every detail. Her inner anger seemed only to feed her power, fury committed each movement, and weight shift to memory.

"First my brother, and now my empire. Forgive me if I distressed more than is a necessary. I assure you I will be fine after i have some time to think thing through." Now Alia stopped in her tracks and took his hand in hers.

"Thank you." And then spit into his hand, and folded his finger around her warm saliva.

He might have been able to handle such a gesture with more awkwardness than grace if it had caught him by surprise. As it was, he did have some measure of forewarning and so managed to keep the strain out of his eyes.

"I assure you," He replied softly, and smiled, "You are most welcome. These corridors here are the crew quarters, they're largely unoccupied. Their quite simple, but much better than the alternative, I assure you. Mine is the farthest on the right side, if you cannot find me elsewhere."

There were some Fremen customs he would never enjoy.
