Sooo...Meet-y

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their number. After the recent revelation, many of them were even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Brainiac 5 and Sensor were set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

Alia did not yet know how much compassion Ghanima was showing her then. She was oblivious to the future, and the pressures that Alia had her niece and nephew in their own shared futures/pasts. That this gesture was already a great strain for the girl, instead she took it at face value, but wondered if there was in fact more. Surely they had a history she did not know, but the only way to find out would be to give the same acceptance she was received despite her inner turmoil.

"Another... time?" For a long moment she pondered if this was only a spice dream. Was she finally able to see the future and this was the form it came in?

"This is all... much to take in at once." The screaming her mind paired with this new revelation made her feel weak and almost frightened.

But she was St. Alia of the knife... she feared no one.
On the back of her head she felt a hand stroke her hair, pushing the other voice away from for a moment.

Without meaning to she batted her hand at the empty air behind her, shooing the baron from her mind, only she could see him break into mist around her hands assault.

"Have we quarter's then? And... the spice. How do we acquire it? Surely it must be here somehow or you would not be alive?" She paused, pressing inwardly to regain her control. "Perhaps somewhere quieter, and you could explain further."

For a quiet moment she said nothing, and then ever so softly she whispered in a hushed voice.

"Bless the maker, bless his comings, and his goings. May his water cleanse the land..."
At least their still had stillsuits, funny as they look at felt.
Or she thought they where anyways.

Ghani struggled to make herself continue to stand where she was. Everyone had failed Alia in her time, allowed her down the path that would surely lead to her destruction. Could she allow such a thing to happen again as it so obviously was?

Abomination. Ghani swallowed, her heart feeling as though it were being squeezed harshly as she watched Alia bat at the empty space behind her. She wanted to reach out, offer support, but she knew that Alia had always been proud and would more than likely brush any attempts of help to the side.

Now was not the time.

She lifted her chin a little. "You may share the place I have been using in the City. Many have quarters within this... ship, but I could not bear to sleep in such a place."

She studied Alia, hoping that her aunt would be able to silence the voices which were slowly going to drive her mad. And she hoped she would not come to regret her offer.

Already over whelmed, Alia did not press her with to many questions, letting her mind slowly ingest the information she was receiving.
With out Duncan she felt nearly helpless, Alia had knowledge beyond her years, but she was no mentant.

"You do me a great service, Niece." Alia folded her hands and tried to smile weakly, the baron words continued in her mind, as is he where perched on her shoulder like some obese Cheshire cat.

"I am lucky to have found you it seems."

How lucky, poor Alia had yet to even fathom.

"It is not service when it is your own family," Ghani pointed out with a small smile of her own. This was going to be a test, she could tell. She didn't feel comfortable sharing too much of Alia's future with her, but it would be hard to keep events that had happened from her. Like the apparent death of Leto.

She would have to keep an eye on Alia, she knew that. She had to watch and try to make sure she didn't cause too much trouble or try to plot anything that would cause any sort of harm.

"So it seems," Ghani agreed, folding her own hands before herself. "I should warn you, Aunt, that there are two Bene Gesserit's on board."

As Alia walk beside her, a strange sort of feeling came over her, as if this moment was one she had seen in a spice dream, but surely it was not. This was turning up to be less and less a dream.

"Of course there are. Why am i not surprised." Alia did not hide is discontent one bit. That band of treacherous old whores. She may be a product of their work, but she would not wear it's leash.

Alia mouth twitched if only a fraction of a millimeter, as she tried to push away his thought; shove the dirty old man back in the barrel with the rest of the monkeys on her back.

"Are they friend or foe?"
withoutspice: (what)

[personal profile] withoutspice 2009-12-02 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
"They have done nothing to warrent being called a foe, though I would hardly call them friends," Ghani said truthfully. To be honest she hardly paid much mind to the other two women. "Though one is supposedly a decendent of mine from thousands of years in the future."

Ghani glanced over at her Aunt as they walked. She seemed to have control over herself at the moment. Perhaps here she would be able to keep a firmer grasp on her sanity.

"One of them has a worm."

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
"A worm? But how?" It was almost a rhetorical question, it did not truly matter how, only that the maker was there, and they would not all die a slow death from spice deprivation.

"If one of them control's the spice I would not call them friend nor foe, either." Alia thought deeply for a moment, these where delicate sands she was treading, and she had not yet even made friends with anyone unknown to her universe yet.
This was going to be more than a little interesting.

[personal profile] withoutspice 2009-12-02 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Honestly, I'm not sure how she got it here," Ghani shrugged her shoulders a little. "But they keep it in the city." she was tempted to add the part about the worm apparently having a small part of Leto's conciousness in it, but decided that at the moment, Alia didn't need the added shock.

"Are you tired?" Ghani asked, wanting to shift the conversation away from worms and spice and the other two women.

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Alia walked along side her niece, Her hands holding the strange new devices. The chaos of her own mind grew as every ancestor demanded to voice their opinions. They crawled up out of their Pandora's box, no matter how she tried to keep the lid on it, ghostly talons, and warriors hands clawed at her self conscious, demanding their own space in her mind.

Alia closed her eyes and rubbed the bridge of her nose, as if suffering from a headache, dark waves of hair falling loose around her thin, tired face.

"Actually, quite so. IT goes with out saying, this has been an eventful day. Snatched from my bed to find my empire destroyed... Surely you felt the same way... I have only just lost my brother." Alia stopped now, and looked at Ghani a little harder, if Alia had known what her niece knew, she would have know this gesture of deep study was all to familiar to the older teen. "And you where but a babe in the seitch with your brother..."

[personal profile] withoutspice 2009-12-02 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Pausing along side her, Ghanima turned to face her. She tried to supress the intense feeling of despair that suddenly welled up inside her. Leto. Even though Ghani knew that a part of Leto was still alive, it hurt to think she might truly never get to see her beloved brother again.

"You miss him, you always have," Ghani said softly, her voice brimming with the compassion and understanding she felt. She took a deep breath, forcing herself to regain her calmness.

"I was snatched on the day of my wedding," Ghani informed Alia with a wry smile. She could have at that point also pointed out that Alia only was ruler of the empire until she married, since Leto was considered dead at the time she would have married. But now was not time for such pettiness.

Perhaps now could be a time of healing. Of better understanding her Aunt.

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"I miss who my brother was... i miss Usul, not Muad'dib, no matter how holy his words where." It was a rare moment of outward insight.

"It's a strange notion that I'm sure your accustom to by now, but married? You where only this big yesterday." Alia made a cradle of her arms and regarded it sadly. "Who where you to marry?" She continued on now, weary and overwhelmed. She prayed for spice, water, and sleep, Alia would have hoped for more, but knew that returning to the desert now was not possible.

"Both aspects of him loved you dearly," Ghani informed her, though she didn't elaborate how she knew.

"It is a strange notion to me as well," Ghani smiled, watching Alia's movements. "I was to marry Farad'n Corrino to try to bring peace between our two families." She wasn't telling the whole truth, but it didn't truly matter now, as it would never happen.

She motioned for Alia to continue walking with her and the two women continued to move slowly through the ship toward the city.

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Farad'n?!" Alia was openly surprised, "Why would you marry into house Corrino? That just seems absurd! He's nothing but a pawn to his mother..." As she thought on it, Alia wondered who made such a ridiculous decision. Had Feyd still lived, she would have preferred a Harkonnen treaty, to a Corinno one.
And then it hit her.
There was most likely only one person who could have made such a decision.
Irulan.
The crafty whelp was alwaysplotting with the Bene Gesserit. Was it not the princess who had fed Chani contraceptives? Was it not Irulan that hated Alia most?

[personal profile] withoutspice 2009-12-03 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
"You thought it was a good idea," Ghani informed her Aunt with an almost innocent expression. "And he was no longer a pawn of his Mother by the time of our arranged marriage. He... cleared a few things up and you exiled her." She didn't bother adding that she had still planned on killing him for the 'death' of Leto though.

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
The word moved her more deeply than a normal person could see. Revelation about he own action in the futures she could not see though she tried...

He said more, but she could not hear it over the rising din of the voices in her ears. They flashed into and out of her vision, hovering between her and Ghanima. Faces she knew but had never seen, each demanding to voice their opinion in shouts and shrieks.Alia lost all composure for a moment, and her eyes flashed the distress and she put her hand to the bridge of her nose again, rubbing it to soothe her pounding head.

Concerned, Ghanima reached out and gently touched Alia's arm. "How about we get you somewhere so you can sleep? We have plenty of time to talk." She offered Alia a small smile, but really she was beginning to wonder just how far gone Alia truly was.

[identity profile] depthundersands.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Alia looked up, also startled by her neice's touch.
It felt odd to be standing eye to eye with the child. Barely more than a year or two between them. Yesterday she had been only a baby, today she was a companion.
What else did this girl know?
This child that lived the future.

"Yes." She breathed deeply trying to hold on to her own thoughts, as Ghanima's touch seemed to send the voices back to the depths.
"It feels much needed, thank you."

She smiled gently and steered Alia around so they were walking toward the City. "You're welcome. I was able to find a place... Without so much computer intervention. And without the whole feel of the ship. A real bed and sheets. You should be able to get some sleep there."
