Meet-n-Greet

After being released from stasis, having the slime removed from their bodies and clothed in the creepy, pulsing leaf-suit that everyone wore, and being taken to the Weapons & Possessions lockers to collect their belongings, the new arrivals would find themselves standing in the Observation Deck. Round windows lined the fleshy walls, revealing the bright display of lights that was inter-dimensional travel. They would also discover that there were people--members of the command staff and crew that had woken earlier--waiting for them.

Mia reached the Obs deck, eager to check out the latest batch of selectees; to offer a helping hand where necessary, and see if there was anyone she knew.

She also wouldn't mind catching sight of a certain occasionally armored individual that seemed awfully hard to find lately. She was a little disappointed about that, to be honest.

Adam felt strangely comfortable and uncomfortable at the same time in the suit as he walked into the chamber with the other people. It was very crowded and that alone made Adam just a little uncomfortable. "Andros... I don't get it. What kind of place is this?"

[identity profile] killedzordon.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Obviously he didn't get it. Adam was a planetary ranger. Had he ever set foot in space, much less on an 'alien' space ship? There were differences between planetary rangers and space rangers. This was one of the most obvious ones. Adam knew nothing about space. That being said, Stacy's choice of clothing did get some getting used to. All the while talking to Adam, Andros was doing his best to melt into the background. Or the wall, a vine. Whatever was closest. Crowds meant people, and there were a lot of people here.

"It's a ship Adam. Stacy is probably either some kind of A.I. or the ship's actually alive." Not that DECA wasn't actually alive, he'd get punished for weeks for saying that on the Megaship. So, just to be safe, Andros added. "Not that your not alive Stacy, if your are an A.I." Andros suppressed a twitch, knowing how ...temperamental DECA was. He didn't want to risk offending Stacy too. The Red Ranger glanced at Adam, wondering what about all this wasn't to 'get'.

He didn't really feel as if standing around and greeting new awakeners on the Obs deck was his place. He could hardly be considered a long-term resident on Stacy--he'd yet to master the food. However, there was always the possibility that another member of Stargate Command--or even, perhaps, one from Atlantis--could have awoken. It was his duty to make certain they were properly informed. At least insomuch as he could actually inform them.

Besides that, it wasn't as if he'd be able to do anything on Obs deck without running into someone new, anyway.

[identity profile] wendy-watson.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, so it's not like she's expecting Ida to suddenly pop on board - even if Wendy secretly thinks it'd be nice to have the snarktastic cyborg on board - but still, she's here and she's looking to see who the newcomers are. There are a few that particularly tickle her inner fangirl's fancy and a few who she doesn't know. But mostly, she just takes it all in. Their ranks are growing. Clearly, she realizes, whatever they're gonna go up against...it's huge.

And Katara goes off to talk to more people again, narrowly missing Zuko, the person she would have WANTED to talk to. It was just as well: he would have had information that would upset the waterbender, and that was the last thing anyone needed. For now, she was content to talk to more people and learn their story.

She paused at a girl who looked a little older than her: short brown hair and a kind of dress code that would have fit a boy, usually. Not that Katara thought she was one to judge: in fact, it actually looked really good on her.

"Hi!" Katara said. "I'm new here, and I'm just trying to gather information. Who might you be?"

Picard had decided to make greeting new arrivals a habit, trying more and more to treat Stacy like a Starfleet vessel. He'd only attended a couple of the meet and greets beforehand (including his own), but already he was growing used to the more casual atmosphere of the gathering. The new crewmembers would have plenty of time later to get used to rules and regulations. For the moment, the captain was pleased to simply say hello and answer questions.

He did, however, cast his gaze quickly across the room, scanning in the hopes of seeing another Starfleet officer, preferably one of his own crew. When he saw no one matching the appearances of any of his senior crew, Picard muttered an expletive and went back to greeting the new arrivals. He hadn't expected anyone to arrive, not really. He had certainly hoped for it, though, and still hoped for it.

Katara was still adjusting, but talking to a lot of the new arrivals, she found, was much more soothing than freaking out about being in this strange new place. The new arrivals were, like her, bewildered, trying to make the best of things, and Katara could relate. Strangely enough, part of her knew that disbelieving her own eyes and thoughts weren't helpful, but talking and making pleasant conversation made things more bearable. Maybe that was a little of her mother there: making the best of things at a very confusing time.

Like Chief, there was a man she spotted, watching but wanting to be approached, wanting to help answer questions. Spotting them wasn't always hard, and simply took getting over initial wariness to go over and talk. Katara, who was quickly learning that the best way to understand was to talk to everyone, walked over to the man. He had an air of command about him, like her father or Bato in the army.

She offered him a smile. "Hi, I'm Katara. Just got here and starting to understand a little of what's going on. What's your name...sir?"

Luke Skywalker AND the greatest captain in Starfleet history--

YEAH THAT'S RIGHT! I SAID IT! WHO WANTS SOME?

--... this was turning out to be the best day EVER. He marched right on up to the man. "Captain Picard?" He did his best snap to attention once he was sure he was noticed.

"Owen Mercer-Harkness-Thawne," He paused, trying to find the right word. It was Picard after all, and Patrick Stewart besides. "--delighted to be serving under your direction in this.. admittedly most unusual task."

Spaurh could recgonize someone who was used to command easily enough - maybe he had more answers or perhaps he was in charge around here. Either way, she made her way over, musing to herself. It was interesting, really. Most of these people were humans - landers, probably. So far none of them seemed to be from the United Mankind or any of their allies, but she could never be too sure.....

She drew up to Picard, one hand resting on a hip. She examined him for a moment and then nodded, "Would you be in charge around here? Or should I be looking for someone else?"

[identity profile] zeus-is-loose.livejournal.com 2009-08-03 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
"You look like a man with authority." Alex says to Picard as he walks up to him from behind. "You wouldn't happen to have anything to do with this, would you?" If Alex could had his way, he would simply consume the Starfleet captain, but that was no longer an option.

Billy was sure if he meet one more of his childhood heroes he'd pass out. But so far he was doing fairly well, if you counted leaning against the nearest hard surface as he spotted Picard.

Owen kept wandering around, taking in as many faces as he could. A few he definitely recognized, a few he couldn't put his finger on, and a large number that were total unknowns to him. All things considered though, this wasn't that bad a deal.

No Rogues. No Checkmate. No Waller.

A perfect chance for a fresh start.

"And dude.." He mused to himself out loud. "It's outer space. This is gonna be awesome."

Dick had been making his way around the room, mostly just observing. Partly seeing if there was anybody new that he knew. Anybody who looked like they could be trouble.

Admittedly, he was partly still looking for Batman, but Titans would be good. His team. His family.

This face, however, made him pause and make note to warn Tim. "Huh. Okay, wasn't expecting this."

Worf stands dourly near the entrance, watching the newcomers enter and mingle with the rest of the crew. He was growing tired of the whole thing, and having more people to deal with just gave the Klingon a headache.

[identity profile] killedzordon.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
There was the entrance. In sight. Andros had no idea where he would go when he got there, but it was out. A place that was possibly without people. It wasn't that Andros didn't like people. He just preferred them in much smaller doses. Like five or six at most. And even that was sometimes big. Why did most people insist on being together all the time. He knew most humans relied on each other, it was natural, a bonding experience of sorts. But...couldn't they all bond...separately? It was loud, crowded and way to many people. It was like wading through his own personal version of hell, except without the death and despair.

It looked like he was at least going to have to acknowledge this person standing next to the door. At least he looked as miserable as Andros was.

"Hello."

Andros winced inwardly. Really great greeting.

Alex leans against the wall, arms crossed. He's cooled down since the incident earlier, but he's not letting his guard down. There's no reason for him to trust any of these people. It could all be some kind of trick by Blackwatch. Alex found it hard to believe that this whole place was a living ship, but then again, he had seen genetics do strange things.

Was Stacy like him? An artificially created organism? It seemed to be that way. Alex needed to find answers. He couldn't risk consuming anyone, otherwise everyone and the ship would be against him. Besides, no one here seemed to know anything anyway, so consuming someone for their knowledge would be pointless. There was only one place he was going to get answers; the Stacy herself.

"The ship's brain is the key..." Alex whispers to himself. But for now, he needed to stay low and observe. There had to be plenty of people here after the same thing, and hopefully one's willing to do whatever necessary for the truth.

The only thing the possessions locker had contained for Dr. Kureha was her glasses: one pair of sunglasses, and one pair of reading glasses. She wore them both on her forehead, as was customary for her, and now let the shades fall down over her eyes as she surveyed the chamber.

"Tch," she said in disdain. Bunch of talkative kids. She could already tell that there'll never be a moment's peace for her here, just yak yak yak yak all day long.

Albert didn't much care for the plant suit. It was ill-suited for hiding the awkward angles of his robotic body, and of course, Stacy had not been kind enough to provide him with something to conceal his metallic right hand. His usual scowl deepened slightly. He might as well be wearing a neon sign that read "I'm a cyborg! Ask me how!"

A quick scan of the crowd did little to allay his anxiousness. There seemed to be no sign of his fellow 00 cyborgs, and the sheer amount of people was disconcerting. Just how many people had this place abducted? And what was their purpose?

Retaining his stone-faced look, the cyborg took up a spot near the wall, arms crossed, and scanned the crowd for someone who looked like they might be in charge.
