Meet-n-Greet

After being released from stasis, having the slime removed from their bodies and clothed in the creepy, pulsing leaf-suit that everyone wore, and being taken to the Weapons & Possessions lockers to collect their belongings, the new arrivals would find themselves standing in the Observation Deck. Round windows lined the fleshy walls, revealing the bright display of lights that was inter-dimensional travel. They would also discover that there were people--members of the command staff and crew that had woken earlier--waiting for them.

Picard was so used to being fictional at that point that it didn't even faze him. "I'm not so sure about legend," he replied. "Other captains have become notable figures in Starfleet history. People such as Captain James Kirk or Admiral Janeway."

Owen snorted, turning his head. "Kirk isn't fit to feed your lion-fish, by comparison. He's a great captain, but he's not you."

He looked around the place. "So how do things work around here? Just do our own thing until the ship-voice says otherwise?"

Picard laughed at Owen's comment. "They even know about my lionfish? That's some detail."

He calmed his laughter quickly, still grinning wryly as he spoke. "Well, I am the captain of this ship, so there are some regulations and duties to attend to, but other than that, off-duty hours are yours to spend as you please."

Owen shrugs, pulling out one of his explosive boomerangs, the circuitry and moldings of it obvious. "I build my own weapons, and I'm the best there is with them. Not sure what other skills you're looking for in me other than point and shoot."

He pauses, considering Picard's words. "Not to be argumentative, sir... but are you captain of this ship, or of it's crew?" He looks around uneasily. "From the chatter I've overheard so far, this ship is pretty much doing what it wants, and we're along for the ride, like it or not. If you can tell me I'm wrong on that, please, go ahead." He actually wanted to be wrong.

The captain arched an eyebrow, frowning at the thought of Stacy's actions. "To be fair, yes, I am mainly the captain of this crew. However, there are other factors I cannot speak of here."

Owen nodded. "No offense taken I hope. Just trying to get the lay of the situation here." He drew himself up again. "I look forward to serving under you, sir. If you'll excuse me." He started to move away, unless there was anything else to be exchanged.
