Meet-n-Greet

After being released from stasis, having the slime removed from their bodies and clothed in the creepy, pulsing leaf-suit that everyone wore, and being taken to the Weapons & Possessions lockers to collect their belongings, the new arrivals would find themselves standing in the Observation Deck. Round windows lined the fleshy walls, revealing the bright display of lights that was inter-dimensional travel. They would also discover that there were people--members of the command staff and crew that had woken earlier--waiting for them.

"Yes, I am the captain of this vessel and her crew," Picard responded. "My name is Jean-Luc Picard, captain of the USS Enterprise. Before I was the commander of this ship, at any rate. You'll find several Starfleet officers in the command staff if you have any questions I am unable to answer. Now, how may I help you?"

Spaurh grinned. Excellent. She snapped off a lazy Abh salute and nodded, "Well, Captain, I am Admiral Spaurh aronn Saicspath Nimh Laitpanr Painaigh, of the Humankind Empire of Abh Space Forces. I'm looking for some answers."

"Hello, Admiral. I'm unfamiliar with your organization, but that really isn't much surprise in this place. Please, ask whatever questions you have." It was easy enough to remain friendly even in the face of the newcomer's rather impolite demand for answers. After all, even Starfleet had its share of irritating flag officers. The captain actually found her attitude somewhat refreshing. It was amusing to note that some things never changed.

"I hear we're supposed to act as soldiers or some such for this ship - is that true? And what exactly am I supposed to do about that? My expertise is in leading fleets, not ground combat."

She shrugs her shoulders, looking a bit helpless (and somehow smug simultaneously). And although her attitude might be irritating, she's still competent and actually damn good at what she does.

"I mean, I usually leave the minutia up to my Chief-of-Staff."

"Soldiers, diplomats, negotiators and spies -- Stacy seems to have drawn in a wide variety of people to man this ship. I'm certain you've been brought here for a reason, Admiral. Stacy is merely tight lipped about such things."

Spaurh shields a yawn, "Well, surely you must have something for me to do. Something worth my time, perhaps?"

She raised a brow, "Something interesting?"

"Well," the captain began, "I do require someone with experience in the fields of negotiation and diplomacy. With the addition of your tactical and military experience, perhaps you could help me assemble a diplomatic and ambassadorial team, to complement our science, engineering, and medical divisions."
