Meat n' Greet
The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.
Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.
There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.
[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

She was comforted by the fact that she'd found her grandmother's betrothal necklace, and the bag in which she carried some water to use for bending abilities.
She'd be more comforted if she had found a familiar face, but there had to be one there somewhere. She just knew there had to be.
And maybe they could explain some things to her.

In any case, there was sure to be more confused faces and things she had to say, so she gazed at the crowd a moment, trying to spot who she could help...
...And was promptly given the shock of her life, like a splash of freezing water to the face. She knew that girl alright, she'd BEEN her long enough, studied under her: how could she forget? But to bring her so soon? Where were the guys? Had they already spoken to her?
She doubted it, she had that look that plainly said she was dealing but needed answers. And who better to give her some then her?
But how to talk to her? She's know she was water tribe obviously, she'd BEEN to the North. But would she recognize her?
Only one way to find out.
"Excuse me," she said, "Do you know who I am?"
no subject
But as for knowing her...
"I'm sorry," Katara apologized. "I..." she paused and frowned. "Do you know me?"
no subject
"Yes, I do," she said, giving the girl the best smile she could muster even if her insides felt a little like hard ice. "You made yourself pretty infamous in my tribe. After you were trained by Master Pakku, we definitely wanted to follow your example. Some would even have even followed you all over the Earth Kingdom and back to find you!"
She shook her head. "My name is Kaya, I'm from the Northern water tribe. I bet you have lots of questions, huh?"

"Katara! It's you! It's really you!" He can't help it. He's missed her, especially after the fiasco with Kaya and Stacy, and this time it's her, he can tell. He can't stop a tear or two from running across his cheek as he buries his face against her hair.
"It's you."

"I was so worried I wouldn't find you!"

That was a rather incredulous-sounding Mai, by the way. She eyed Katara, one brow arched. She wasn't sure if she could trust her senses. Especially after Stacy had already decided to mess with them once before.

This had to be a different Airbending monk, didn't it? It had to be another Airbender, with gray eyes and a face that looked like it was prone to easy smiles.
Except when he turned and did a double-take and saw her, those gray eyes went wide with recognition.
For a moment, he just stood there, looking at her. Then he closed his eyes tight.
no subject
But that didn't mean that Aang would have been looking so...grown-up...did it?
Involuntarily, she took a step towards him. Then another...and another.
no subject
She felt like Katara. His eyes might lie to him but could Stacy fake the rest?
The way her breath caught in her throat sounded like Katara. He'd always paid attention to things like that, and he'd found that little things--like how her breathing had sounded in the dark of the Cave of the Two Lovers--impressed on his memory permanently, indelibly.
Opening his eyes, he looked at her--he really looked at her, drinking in the features of her face, trying to look past any illusions or deceptions that had been planted in his mind.
She looked like Katara.
His face twisted up into an expression that was nearly pained.
"Please tell me you're real."

Yet ANOTHER friend of the Avatar's had arrived on board. It was almost more then Azula could stand! The voices instantly began to scream at her to do horrible things to Katara before she had noticed the fire princess. Other voices screamed to run and hide. She felt herself begin to shake and her fists clenched.
NO! She screamed silently and felt the heat rising in herself. She clamped her eyes shut risking assassination and brought the images to her mind once more.
The dragons dancing, the color, the fire.
She felt it all around her like a soothing breeze. The tension didn't leave, but she was in control once more. She opened her eyes slowly and set them on Katara again.
It was so...SO hard to resist.

A myriad of expressions flowed over Katara's face. Surprise, fear, determination, steely resolve, and then just a blank face. No expression. Except for a raised eyebrow. Katara shifted her stance a little bit as well. She was not the martial artist that some of her friends and family were, but she could defend herself if need be.

Because Kaya is here, not far behind, and her hand is at her pouch. She had made the mistake of giving Azula the benefit of the doubt before, and it resulted in Zuko getting hurt. She may have thought you were trying to change, but there was no way that meant she was turning her back on you, especially so close to her Sifu.
The GAang had finally gotten a moment of temporarily happiness: that was rare on Stacy. She wasn't about to let that be dashed.
"Hi Azula," Kaya said casually behind the former Fire Lord. "Look, its Katara. It seems she was pod popped after all. Thank goodness!"

Flying over, he glanced around for the source of the feeling until he came up to look over at Katara. His brow furrowed in confusion. "Oneesama...?"
No, it wasn't Kaya, but it was close. The similar features but...
Floating down, he waved. "Hi."

"You're from a Water Tribe, aren't you? Which one?"
The woman who asks has eyes a familiar shade of grey, a face inclined to easy smiles, and blue arrow tattoos Katara's only seen on one other person in the whole world before.
