Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"Because the Ohm are ruthless, that's my guess. I've fought them Sifu, and there hasn't been a fight yet we've won. Stacy doesn't pick people because they're good guys or bad guys or neutral: she takes whoever she can, and its the thing that equalizes all of us. We join together and fight the Ohm: or we perish."

"Then we fight together," Katara said with a nod. And if their world was restored after...then they'd deal with Azula, if they absolutely had to. Regardless, Katara wanted to see Azula - but she wanted her friends with her when she did. Just in case the firebender tried something unsavory. Which she undoubtedly, Katara felt, would. "You may not have won the fights, but at least you have survived. That's something."

"Well, this is a pretty strong crew," Kaya said, "but I trust that you'll see that yourself. The longer you walk around and talk to people, the more you'll see exactly what they can do, so long as they pull together and work as a team. That's really where the tricky part comes in: all these people from all these different universes, forced to defend themselves. But you'll see soon, in time."

"It was hard enough sometimes working as a team with people from our own world," Katara said softly. "But we made that work. This will just take a little extra effort. And patience." Which Katara would have to work on, given that sometimes she was prone to having a slightly hot temper.

"It gets harder," Kaya admitted to her "People are a lot harder to figure out, believe me, I know. I've done my best to get to know as many people as possible on the ship, and if there's one thing I'm positive on, its that there's not going to be a clear cut way to get everyone together. More importantly, there's no one person that can do it either. Aang is not the only one with powers on the ship."

"I am somehow not surprised to hear that," Katara admitted. "From what I hear, there is no one here from home who is not battle-hardened or gifted with bending powers in some way." Katara frowned. "I was hoping that we would be done with war, but that is clearly not the case."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-07-01 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
That reminded her. "Oh, its not just bending that's in this place: there's magic, mutation, superpowers, supernatural prowess, technology saavy, you name it. Stacy wanted as many strong willed champions as possible. You might find some normals, but chances are they're trying to make themselves stronger somehow too."

She sighed. "There are moments of calm, believe me. You'll appreciate them. And the guys, with the exception of Toph, are all here."

Katara thought of the many warriors who had come to rise in the Southern Water Tribe after the Fire Nation had attacked. She thought, especially, of Sokka, who had proved himself to be gifted in war, even though he wasn't a bender himself. "That's good to know," Katara nodded. "I believe I'm going to have a lot to get used to."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Definitely," Kaya said, giving Katara a look over, "But like I said, the best of this place are what you're able to do to inspire people. It's actually a lesson I learned from you a long time ago. People are only as goos as they believe they are: sometimes they just need some coaxing in the right direction."

That was an understatement. "Yes, but you'll at least have us all helping you along the way."

"It looks like this time you'll get to be my teacher," Katara grinned. "The master becomes the student, kind of."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-07-02 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Kaya laughed. "Katara, if you only knew...you've been my teacher for a long time, even when you weren't here. If I have anyone to thank for who I am, its you!"

[identity profile] wet-and-riled.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Katara grinned. "I don't know what to say to that," she said honestly. "But I feel humbled. In a good way."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
"You don't have to say anything. But I really should go: you'll want to talk to the others, they're going to be so happy to see you. Just, here (http://trans-9.livejournal.com/760869.html?mode=reply): these are directions to the W.I.T.C.H. bus. See me after everything. There's some things I'd like to talk with you about, just so you know more of what's happened since you were gone."

She smiled. "I'm glad though: I've been a strong presence on this ship, and you helped make that possible."
