Woody had known that he was here for a reason, and he knew that reason wasn't the same as everyone else. The ship didn't even recognize him as a crew member. No, the ship registered that he belonged to someone, and he knew that someone had to be one of two people.

One of those two people was here now.

Woody peeked around the corner of a meatchair in the Obs Deck, to take a look at him, trying to figure out what to do. Yes, he'd gotten caught, and decided to give up on the biggest of the rules toys even had, in light of their situation, but...

This was different. This was Andy.

As much as Woody dearly cared about Bonnie, as much as he understood he'd been given away, Andy would always be... he would always just be...

You never forgot the first kid that loved you so much that you felt...real.

The little cowboy was afraid that Andy knowing his toys were alive would taint those happy memories, that Andy might be freaked out by him. There just...was a lot to be afraid of.

But maybe this was finally his chance to talk to him, to tell him all the things he'd wanted to say.

"You can do this. You can do this. All you have to do is walk out, and say hi. That's it. You just have to walk out and hope that he...doesn't run away screaming." Woody took his hat off and flapped it around in frustration. "This is gonna be a nightmare."

But even if it was, it was Andy. Woody took a moment to lift his boot, and stare at the scribbled letters there. He couldn't not try to do this.

Sighing, Woody put his foot down and put his hat back on his head, adjusted it, took a moment to steel himself, and walked out into Andy's line of sight. The moment it looked like Andy was looking his way, instinct kicked in and mixed with overwhelming nervousness and he flopped to the ground, lifeless.

Well that had gone exactly not as planned.

"Oh no," Woody said, feeling around the vicinity of his neck to see what'd popped there as Kaylee spirited him away. He couldn't tell how many stitches it was, but there was some fluff sticking out. Had the fabric ripped or was it just a popped seam?

"How bad is it? Is it bad?"

The doll was still trembling a little, after nearly having his head torn off. How he could tremble without muscles, who knew, but he could.
Woody dithered about near the entrance to Obs Deck, fingers fiddling with the brim of his hate as he held it in his hands, extremely nervous about mingling with the crew for the first time. It was one thing to talk to everyone on the comms; it was entirely another to do it face to face.

"You can do this. It's no different than talking to other toys--they're just...very large, people sized, people toys that..."

He broke off into a sigh.

"You can do this."

He wasn't going to run flailing from the room. He wasn't going to run flailing from the room...

Boy howdy, this was difficult. It wasn't that he was a coward or anything, but this went against the grain, so to speak. Fighting his instinct to hide and not be seen was the hardest part of it. It just felt unnatural to waltz right in. But that was what he was going to do.

"Here goes nothing."

Woody put his hat on and adjusted it firmly, lifted his chin, and sauntered boldly into the room--and then collapsed instantly, going limp and playing dead.

Then he moved again, pushing himself up to his feet, swinging his arms and chuckling awkwardly, "Ha. Aha. Uh. Reflex."

[ooc note]
There was a newcomer on board the meatship. She'd been grabbed by GLaDOS right after she'd popped out of a pod, gotten dressed, and grabbed her belongings. Now that she'd been spat out, she was pissed off. Well, more pissed off than usual.

Cut for bad language and behavior, warning her userinfo and in the OOC comm and oh guys I am so sorry for this. )

Allen's to-do list is a mile long.

Which is why it's very important for his thought process that he take a break once in a while to do a light, restful activity. Like maybe, antique toy appraisal.

Hey, everybody's got hobbies, right?

After playtime, Woody sat up, and adjusted his hat, looking...well, happy. It'd been years since Andy had played with his toys, and he'd only just recently been introduced to Bonnie.

As far as playtime was concerned, he was a little rusty, but it turned out he was just as good at...well, sitting there, uh, inanimately as ever.

It was nice to be loved. And it was especially nice to see a child like Komali so full of joy. That he'd never had a toy to play with before was a crying shame, and it was just good to see the bird-like boy so happy.

But playtime was over, and that meant Woody had free reign over the room. It also meant he had some time to make a run for it and get some things done. He had a few things to do, like dragging out an omnicomm from its hiding place and giving it back to who it belonged to. (And stealing one that belonged to nobody). And of course, it was back to the Weapons locker to search for his friends. It was something he did whenever he could sneak out to look.

"Time to roll up yours sleeves and get to work, cowboy," he muttered to himself as he got the door to swish open by touching it.

--

It was indeed a busy day. The hard part was moving through the halls unseen. Every time someone walked by, he had to tuck himself in a corner or drop down inanimate.

Which is how Woody found himself flopped down in a hallway, pretending to not be able to move, as footsteps approached, praying the person would miss him or just pass him by.

"It was a dark night. Filled with...darkness!"

And, so it was, deep and menacing twilight perched outside the narrow dungeon window, like a vulture, waiting to strike. It was damp, moldy with disuse. Heavy-jawed moblins patrolled the halls, deadly spears held ready to attack any intruder- or escapee that thought to escape their grasp!

"All hope had been lost- but not for Cowboyman!"

Because, of course, neither the evil Ganon, or his evil minions were counting on Cowboyman's ingenuity! Already, he'd wriggled out of his bindings, climbed to the upper stories and was even now sneaking through the impregnable fortress towards the fiend's very headquarters!

Cowboyman bravely pushed open the door, crept into the highest room in that sinister tower...

"Alright, you varmint, come out and face justice" Komali declared, mimicking the deep voice a no-doubt heroic Cowboyman would have used.

But the only answer was a long creak as the door screeeched shut. Ganon was behind him!

In the aftermath of the hostage situation, there were four funerals to be held. One for Major Charles Kawalsky, Cassandra "Stature" Lang, Private William Hudson, and the pod Stacy identified as Galaxy Blaster. There were only the remains of Charles Kawalsky and Hudson to be dealt with. The corpse of the parasite, Shiva, was given to Luis Sera.

They were gone now. All that was left was to say goodbye.

[[OOC: Read this before tagging.]]

Shiva was about to scream some more at the council’s representatives when he heart the sound of his devices powering down. The force field flickered and shut down, which meant the power dampener was also inactive. The “god” had suddenly become very much a mortal, very much vulnerable…

And oh so very screwed.

“DO NOT COME ANY CLOSER!” This time when he yelled he was not smug or disdainful. He was terrified. “I WILL KILL THEM! I WILL—”

It wasn’t clear if it was planned. With the way Kawalsky’s body was twitching, with the way the sweat poured down his face, it could have been a mistake. Or it could have been intentional, if misguided. However it happened, it was a profound mistake, one the goa’uld would pay for with his life.

He pressed the trigger for the bombs. He had no way of knowing they had all been deactivated. All but one.

And though he was voiceless, though no one could hear him save for two telepaths, Kawalsky screamed. He had tried to help the crew. Communicating to the engineers any advice that could help them disable the devices. They wouldn’t have been able to deactivate them without him, not for a while. So many months after he had broken, he thought he could stop the goa’uld from killing.

He was wrong.
24th-Aug-2010 12:29 am - Kneel before your god
Shiva spoke through the comms (not the omnicomms) directly into the minds of the crew.

«I am Shiva. I am the destroyer of all that you know and the creator of a grand new empire. For months you thought of me as my host, Charles Kawalsky, but now you shall see me in all my glory. I have positioned bombs throughout this vessel, including the pod caverns. I need but press the trigger and they will explode. I also have one hostage of my own, Sheryl. You will not be able to stop me. I am fully equipped with a power dampener, and a forcefield. I am untouchable. You have one hour to surrender yourselves to me and begin your new lives as my slaves.»

His eyes flashed gold and he held his hostage firmly. He did not wish to wait, but if he tired of this he would amend his demands. For now he stayed in one of the areas in the City hidden from Stacy’s view, in the middle of a pile of rubble, with not a landmark in sight.

Still, he knew they would come.
There was a box. It was rotated around when people's belongings were moved around, and then accidentally toppled from the top of a pile of stuff to another pile of stuff. The latch came undone in the fall.

At first, nothing happened, but then there was a tiny thump, then another tiny thump, as the lid of the box was shoved open. It came snapping down again, but a small wooden hand caught it, cautiously lifted it, and then a small wooden face looked outside the box.

"...What in the name of Howdy Doody is all this?"

1st-Aug-2010 12:29 pm - Meet N' Greet
The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]
