CEEEEEELEBRATE GOOD TIMES~

Several buildings in the City had been completely destroyed during Aang's rampage, but a few had survived relatively unscathed. It had only taken Kang two days to repair the Drunken Dragon; he'd done so by himself, not even waiting for his leg to heal up a bit first.

Usually, he didn't bother lighting any candles or using the fireplace in the tavern unless it was a period when the artificial sun had set. He could see perfectly fine in the dim light. For the celebration, though, he'd thrown the windows open wide, scrounged up every candle he could find, and started up a fire, knowing that human vision wasn't as good as his own. The tables surrounding the stage had been cleaned, as well as the tankards, and the door was propped open. The bozak had even wrestled two of the 60-gallon barrels from the back room into a corner of the main room for easier access, one of cactus juice and one of ale. If more was needed, he was sure he could get someone to help bring out another.

Tess had commandeered the kitchen to make her food, bringing in her own equipment. Kang had been slightly afraid at first that she was going to burn the place down, but nothing had happened yet. She seemed to know what she was doing, even if she'd given him a few scares.

The sunlight glistened on the old sword blade teeth and dinnerplate eyes of the comical-looking wooden dragon grinning above the entrance. Come in, relax, have a drink and a bite to eat!

[OOC note: Both drinks are alcoholic, and the cactus juice has twice the kick of the ale. :D;]

Spock would, most likely, have preferred solitary meditation to this large, noisy social gathering. But Captain Kirk had been rather insistent that this would be an opportunity for the half-Vulcan commander to meet some other members of Stacy's crew.

Of course, that would probably require him to not be sitting in a corner of the room by himself.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-17 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, a newcomer. At least, new enough that Kaylee didn't recognize him, which was reason enough for her to make her way over to his corner and greet him. The fact that he was sitting alone only sealed the deal, really.

"Take it you ain't much one for partyin', then?" she asked, smile warm and inviting. "It'll get better as it goes."

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-17 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Spock raised an eyebrow slightly at the young woman who joined him. "I see. Captain Kirk was insistent that I attend, I believe under the impression that such a gathering would allow me to become acquainted with some of the crew members. However, I fear I lack many of the necessary social skills to undertake such an endeavor."

He paused a beat. "I am Spock."

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-17 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
He had a way of talking that reminded Kaylee a lot of Simon when he was in doctoring mode. All work and technical terms, and really all he needed was to slow down a bit and have some fun. "'M sure you'll be plenty fine to entertain, once you've met some folks."

She stuck a hand out, a friendly gesture. "It's a pleasure to meet ya, Spock. 'M Kaylee."

Even in his own world, humans had forever been offering up the traditional hand shake. Ignorance of Vulcan culture was remarkably widespread, even within Starfleet.

So Spock hesitated only half a beat before grasping her hand firmly but briefly. No need to intrude on her thoughts, though he suspected she would happily share them if he asked. "I take it you suffered no serious injuries in the recent battle?"

Claudia's mouth dropped open spotting the Vulcan and she seriously almost dropped the tankards she was hoisting around. "Nooooo way!" she whispered aloud to herself. "Friggin Spock?! How kickass is that?!"

Clearing her throat, she made her way over to him, grinning broadly. "You know it's like a crime - or should be at least - to not have something to drink," she informed him, holding a tankard out to him.

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-17 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"It would be illogical to incarcerate those who choose not to imbibe alcoholic beverages," Spock commented. "Such beverages have no effect on my metabolism, and contain no nutritional value. Therefore, while I understand certain symbolic aspects of your offer, I must respectfully decline."

Claudia stared at him for a moment, her nose wrinkling a little in disbelief. "Seriously? You don't ever drink... Just to drink?" She looked down at the tankard and after a moment of thought pushed it at him again. "Oh c'mon! One drink. And it's like really heavy. You'd be doing me a favor."

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-17 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
A favor. An interesting concept, one which had been the subject of some study on his part in the past. "Very well." He accepted the tankard, taking a careful sip. It tasted of malted hops and barley. It was not unpleasant, but it had little substance.

Lafiel saw the pointed ears from behind before anything else and her hopeful mind translated his black hair to a very dark blue. She was overjoyed to meet what she thought was a cousin... "Cousin, cargh sie..." Disappointed embarrassment. "...Oh. I'm sorry."

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Spock turned a little to address the stranger. "Pardon me," he said. "You seem to have mistaken me for someone else. I am Spock."

[identity profile] not-prncss-tldr.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
"I did. I am sorry, I thought you were one of my relatives." Lafiel was still red. Think with that thinky brain of yours, Spock. What feature do they have most in common?

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
"There is no need to apologize. You did not cause offense. I take it your relatives share a similarly-evolved ear shape?"

"Hi!" Have one cheerful magical girl smiling at you, with a slightly-emptied mug of ale in her hands. "You're one of the new arrivals, aren't you?"

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Affirmative." He paused a moment, mentally calculating the odds on how many more times he would be introducing himself. "I am Spock, originally of the planet Vulcan."

"Well, it's nice to meet you Spock from the planet Vulcan!" She chuckled. "I'm Nanoha Takamachi, originally of the planet, uh, Earth. I can't say I've ever heard of Vulcan before, though."

Sniff Long and Prosper?

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Don't mind the wandering, bumbling blue oddity. It sniffs at anything and everything it runs into. However, the fact that the oddity catches a distinctly Vulcan scent? It confuses, fascinates and even alarms the oddity a wee bit.
Thus, careful sniffing and amid a few chirps, the five-inch-long ears give a twitch.

"'Pock-kit?"

Do wha?

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Spock glanced at the newcomer. Most unusual, indeed. He was, in his own way, just as curious as the small blue creature.

"...Fascinating."

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeu is Pock-kit. Rrrr-enne s-mell yeu. Wi-th Dahm-mit Djihm."

Chirp. The big ears give a flick-twitch and the very warm-temperatured beastie tries to lean in for a closer sniff.

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Spock's face and demeanor didn't register any sort of reaction to the newcomer, though his appearance was somewhat unusual. "I fear that traditional human socialization rituals often escape me," he responded with polite coolness.

Cassie had come to the party out of curiosity, and the realization that she really needed some time to relax. She drifted toward the corner, paying more attention to what was going on with the crowd before she actually went to mingle. She should have watched where she was going, maybe then she would have bumped into Spock.

"Oh God! I'm sorry I- oh my God!" SPOCK? SPOCK!?! Cassie bit back a cry of pure squee.

[identity profile] nerve-pincher.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
A somewhat excessive reaction for simply bumping into someone, given the circumstances, but Spock had long ago learned that humans were highly unpredictable, due to being illogical. "There is no need to apologize. I am unhurt, nor am I offended. Do you require assistance?"
staturity: (eep!)

[personal profile] staturity 2010-03-19 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
Easy, Cassie. Don't say anything stupid.

"No! No, uhm, thank you." Oh wow, he was hotter up close than he was in the television close ups. No! Bad Cassie! Bad! "I'm Cassie Lang." She held out a hand.
