Several buildings in the City had been completely destroyed during Aang's rampage, but a few had survived relatively unscathed. It had only taken Kang two days to repair the Drunken Dragon; he'd done so by himself, not even waiting for his leg to heal up a bit first.

Usually, he didn't bother lighting any candles or using the fireplace in the tavern unless it was a period when the artificial sun had set. He could see perfectly fine in the dim light. For the celebration, though, he'd thrown the windows open wide, scrounged up every candle he could find, and started up a fire, knowing that human vision wasn't as good as his own. The tables surrounding the stage had been cleaned, as well as the tankards, and the door was propped open. The bozak had even wrestled two of the 60-gallon barrels from the back room into a corner of the main room for easier access, one of cactus juice and one of ale. If more was needed, he was sure he could get someone to help bring out another.

Tess had commandeered the kitchen to make her food, bringing in her own equipment. Kang had been slightly afraid at first that she was going to burn the place down, but nothing had happened yet. She seemed to know what she was doing, even if she'd given him a few scares.

The sunlight glistened on the old sword blade teeth and dinnerplate eyes of the comical-looking wooden dragon grinning above the entrance. Come in, relax, have a drink and a bite to eat!

[OOC note: Both drinks are alcoholic, and the cactus juice has twice the kick of the ale. :D;]

"You know, the point of a party is to be social," Kang pointed out. "Not to sit in a corner by yourself."

He took a drink from his tankard, grinning. This guy looked like an elf, with the pointy ears, but he didn't smell quite right to be one. Best not to assume.

Spock's face and demeanor didn't register any sort of reaction to the newcomer, though his appearance was somewhat unusual. "I fear that traditional human socialization rituals often escape me," he responded with polite coolness.

Kang quirked an eyebrow ridge and pointed at himself, amused, "There's more than just humans here. And it's easy; you strike up a conversation. Just like I did."

He was definitely in a good mood from the cactus juice.

"Indeed. Nonetheless, the concept of 'small talk' is rather alien to me, being fundamentally illogical."

"The purpose of small talk is to get to know someone," Kang chuckled. "To make connections, allies and friends."

"I find discussion of such subjects as the current climactic conditions to be singularly unhelpful in the discovery of common ground which is necessary in forming social bonds," Spock pointed out. "I find the current setting less conducive to such an exercise than a professional environment."

Huh. What was with this guy? Kang barely held back a snort, "You don't have to talk about the weather. That's a fallback, if you can't think of anything else."

He held out his hand, "Name's Kang. You're new, aren't you?"

Another handshake. "I am Spock. You are correct that I was only recently awakened. I am originally of the planet Vulcan."

"Well met. I'm from Krynn, myself. Sorry you had to wake up when you did; the Nightmare King was causing quite a few problems," Kang shrugged.

"Yes, I was very quickly cognizant of that fact." His voice contained no sarcasm, simply the same nonchalance that Kang was exhibiting. "Nonetheless, I am willing to help in whatever way I can in the aftermath of the attacks, and with the ship itself."

"You should be able to find where you can most help pretty quickly. What are your skills?" Kang asked, curious.

Now there was something Spock didn't mind talking about. "I was formerly Chief Science Officer and First Officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise, under Captain Kirk. My specializations were computer science, programming and physics."

Billy's lessons were certainly coming in handy. "Engineering, then. I've been catching up on centuries' worth of knowledge; eventually, I'll be assisting in that area as well. I was an engineer, but where I'm from, that really just means I know how to build things like trebuchets, ballistae and bridges."

Pausing, Kang tilted his head to one side slightly, "First Officer? Military?"

"I have volunteered my services to that department, yes," Spock conceded. "Mr. Cranston expressed a desire to improve the computing team."

He raised an eyebrow slightly. "Starfleet was not a military organization, though it was structurally similar. Its primary purpose was exploration and scientific discovery."

"...I haven't used computers much yet. I'm still figuring them out," Kang took a drink from his tankard. "Fascinating things, though; never thought machines like that were possible."

He nodded, "So you traveled from world to world?"

"Indeed, they are highly complex machines, nearly as complex as carbon-based life forms."

Spock inclined his head. "Correct. We conducted scientific research, provided aid when necessary, and attempted to foster positive diplomatic relations between species."
