CEEEEEELEBRATE GOOD TIMES~

Several buildings in the City had been completely destroyed during Aang's rampage, but a few had survived relatively unscathed. It had only taken Kang two days to repair the Drunken Dragon; he'd done so by himself, not even waiting for his leg to heal up a bit first.

Usually, he didn't bother lighting any candles or using the fireplace in the tavern unless it was a period when the artificial sun had set. He could see perfectly fine in the dim light. For the celebration, though, he'd thrown the windows open wide, scrounged up every candle he could find, and started up a fire, knowing that human vision wasn't as good as his own. The tables surrounding the stage had been cleaned, as well as the tankards, and the door was propped open. The bozak had even wrestled two of the 60-gallon barrels from the back room into a corner of the main room for easier access, one of cactus juice and one of ale. If more was needed, he was sure he could get someone to help bring out another.

Tess had commandeered the kitchen to make her food, bringing in her own equipment. Kang had been slightly afraid at first that she was going to burn the place down, but nothing had happened yet. She seemed to know what she was doing, even if she'd given him a few scares.

The sunlight glistened on the old sword blade teeth and dinnerplate eyes of the comical-looking wooden dragon grinning above the entrance. Come in, relax, have a drink and a bite to eat!

[OOC note: Both drinks are alcoholic, and the cactus juice has twice the kick of the ale. :D;]

The kitchen

Slightly terrifying things have happened to the kitchen—sleek boxes and paneled equipment set up everywhere, wires running back and forth, and weird dishes and pots and pans made out of some carbon-composite material. The heat that pours out of the room through the open windows is oppressive—and from a few speakers hidden in nooks and crannies, music plays to accompany Tess as she splits her attention a few different ways to handle all the dishes she has cooking.

She's in her suit, for the time being, with the helmet closed—probably because of the heat. It seems rather handy, at least... no worries about getting splashed with any of the hot grease.

If you feel like trying to snack on something before it's done, why don't you come in? Just watch your step—and don't let the heat knock you over.

There is so friggin' much repairwork for Engineering to get on, but it's important to take time out for rest after having your deepest emotional trauma being thrown in your face, so Allen gladly takes some time to visit Kang's pub. And his ale.

"Neat place. Build it yourself?"

Cleaned up, Kaylee probably looked worse than she did when she'd been covered in the dirt and grime from the nightmares. Bruises on her neck and forearms could be seen now, as well as the several cuts and scrapes over the rest of her. Her left arm sat somewhat comfortably in its sling, to minimize movement, and thankfully that was the worst of her injuries. She probably wouldn't have been able to get Kang off her back if she'd had anything worse.

She settled at one of the many tables in the tavern, pleased with the slowly growing number of people. Thank God for Kang and his tavern.

There was, perhaps, one person who arrived that was rather unexpected.

The Seer, Cargn Thane, entered quietly through the door, watching those who had entered before him. Instead of the massive suit of armor he wore during the battle, he instead wore a simple gray robe. Even outside of the heavy armor he towered over most of the crew at 8' tall.

He took a tankard of ale and settled down at one of the tables, the mysticism that normally surrounded him somewhat dispelled as he downed the alcohol before him.

Billy knows there's so much repair work to get on. He was trying to do it, in fact, since Allen was nowhere to be found. But Kang had stopped that exercise fairly quickly.

"The architecture is indeed fascinating...but if we're both here, who's looking after the laboratory?"

Priorities? Oh yeah. Partypooper? Of course.

"Hey Kang!" A party! What timing! "Just what's going on? I was walking down the halls and the next thing I know I've been spat out in the city wondering where my cake went. Just what happened here?"

Will was in.. well, let's just call them 'spirits'. For once, he wasn't talking to anyone, wasn't trying to lighten people's moods.. he just wanted to drink. And drink. And drink.

So he sat at the bar and fumbled time after time with his lager (stupid bandaged hands make it hard to hold anything), and thought about times past.. better times, when drinking was for fun and not with a purpose.

Trying to forget was hard.

"You wanted to see me, sir?" asked a voice struggling to be heard over the din.

There was Billy, as promised, looking out at the partying crew around them. The young engineer had yet to join a table, but he might want to. Much as he was loath to admit it, Kang might be right---it was relaxing to listen to the others tell their stories and have a good time.

Billy's head bobs in response. "Kang, then. Uh...no, I don't drink. I prefer to avoid injesting substances that alter the brain's normal functioning."

Billy leaned back, taking in the sights of the ceiling. "I'm amazed that this building survived."

Indigo is one of the few people unaffected by the Nightmare King's shenanigans. As such, she figures that everyone else needs a bit of time to rest up, so she's taken duties as the 'tavern wench'. Or, if you want to leave it in modern terms, 'waitress'.

She's constantly moving, scanning the room to gauge the level of drinks in their mugs and flagons, and hurrying to bring refills before someone yells. As efficient as she is, once the party gets started, she's bound to have some backlog.

Still, if she has time, she'll stop and offer a smile and some chitchat before moving on to her next target.

Jason had snuck into the tavern while most of the people where doing whatever. He was sure no one had seen him, and he was able to slink to the back and grab a table all to himself. He would get up in a bit to get something to eat and drink, but for now, he was just going to sit there and enjoy this.

"One of your friends was a painter?" Billy was quite curious. He had always liked art, even if he'd never had a talent for producing it.

Now that his mind was quiet, he could listen to the bustling atmosphere. People were laughing, yelling, cheering as if they hadn't all been put through the ringer just a short while ago. It amazed him that they could recover so quickly.

[identity profile] captain-jtk.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Kirk dropped by, naturally enough. He could do with a cold drink and some good company. As it is, he's filtering through the room, a broad smile on his face as he stops here and there to speak with people. He's obviously in good spirits and there doesn't seem to be much that can dampen that at the moment.

[identity profile] indigoblueberry.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Indigo stops by his table and raises an eyebrow, carrying a tray full of drinks in one hand. "Did you want something, or were you just soaking up the atmosphere?" She doesn't have a problem either way, to be honest.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"'M pretty sure I will be. Not lookin' so bad yourself, y'know." Kaylee accepted the drink with a smile, and took a small sip. "Ain't bad stuff," she commented. Of course, after Mudder's Milk, anything was pretty good.

"I did have a question or two, however..." She nodded at the mural on the wall, particularly at the Draconian in the mural. "You got a twin brother, or did I miss somethin'?"

[identity profile] indigoblueberry.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Indigo notices Will having some problems with his drink, mainly due to his hands. It takes some consideration, and she even has to duck out of the inn for a bit to find the solution, but she soon has it.

She pops up behind him and deposits a straw in his drink, offering a little grin. "Rest your hands some, hm? It's hard to celebrate if you're hurting while doing so."

[identity profile] reallyiscrazy.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Jason looks up at the girl and smiles. "Just soaking in the atmosphere right now." He tilts his head and leans back in the chair. "So you come here often?"

[identity profile] indigoblueberry.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Indigo blinks. "No." If that wasn't the bluntest answer he'd ever received...

"It's my first time. I'm only helping because I know most of the crew is going to party themselves to sleep."

A certain stick in the mud Spartan is here just to keep an eye on things. He's already eaten and arranged his utensils neatly to one side of the table where anyone playing waitstaff should not have any trouble picking them up. Most of his attention is on his omnicomm.

He's writing up a mission report, and still has some things to do because of this whole Nightmare King fiasco.

All work and no play is oddly comforting.
