Phase 2 - Running the Ratrace

You have my sincerest apologies, but I have my mission.

The traps start. Rotating blades coming out of the walls and floors and ceilings, jets of fire, lasers, holographic enemies. The clear walls of the maze let them see what's happening to everyone else.

The traps start, and they have to stay alive despite them. If they stop avoiding them, it's their own fault, you see, if they die. That makes it indirect enough for Stacy's Anti-harming-the-crew protocols to be avoided, as Hal, despite his reprogramming, still has to follow some constraints.

Please commence with killing yourselves by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The only chance the group has is if they work together to stay alive, and somehow they have to take out the shield projectors creating the maze even though they themselves are shielded...

[ooc: Cooperation is key, people. Hal can only adapt to one power/skill-set at a time, not all of them.]

Apparently, Hal didn't do his research, because electricity projectors come out of the walls as do laser guns.

Other gun turrets start to set themselves up--but all these temporary ones are not shielded. Maybe they can be taken out with gun fire?

Dodging lasers? He could do that and Dark Smoke Puncher does, throwing out shuriken at a rapid pace to start taking out those gun turrets as he tries to calm his mind enough to actually think of a more efficient way to get them all down.

Luke reignited his lightsaber, bringing it up in case those gun turrets started shooting at them. "We've gotta take out more of those turrets or we'll be blasted to bits!" he shouted back to the others. "See if you can shoot at them--I've got a blaster if someone wants it!"

That said, he gathered the Force around him and leaped forward, slicing through a couple of the nearest with his lightsaber.

More blasters. Hal sure does love his blaster fire.

More than that, big, chompy...chompers come out of the floors and walls, like venus flytraps or other grinding mechanisms, trying to chew them up and spit them out.

They're the toughest right now. Cass doesn't have invulnerability, which means--well, it means he's being hella protective.

There go the eye beams, blasting at the blaster turrets.

Getting out of the way of the blasters is an extremely good idea. Wyn scrambles behind the invulnerable people, pushgun already out and firing. For something intended to be a nonlethal weapon, it packs a heck of a lot of force.

Group 3 - Batman, Supergirl, Allen, Billy Cranston, Caden, Chamber, Mara Jade

Sink holes. The floor is treacherous here and unstable where they stand. Holographic pits of death are opening before them. There are stakes--hey is that an pit of acid over there. Hal puts his hard-light holographic projectors to the test, and the safeties are off.

Watch where you step.

Jono stares at the pits for a moment before shaking his head. Too bad I never figured out that flyin' thing Ev managed.

Everett makes him think of Jaime. And he's not looking that direction again. Way too much going on right here in front of him. Instead, he looks to Batman. Who IS a team leader. Got a plan?

Working on it. In the meantime, there's a series of thuds as several cabled batarangs hit the wall, extending a Swiss resort's worth of safety ropes out across their patch of floor.

"Supergirl, I need you airborne yesterday. Everybody take a rope and buddy up. Gentry, you're with me."

Group 4 - Captain Boomerang, Holly Short, Motoko, Princess Projectra, Robin, Samus Aran

The floors are sticky, the walls are sticky, and it makes it hard to move. Think superglue.

Oh, also there might be poison gas.

Having been hovering during the whole ordeal, Holly had a slight advantage, since she wasn't touching anything. But then a little blinking icon started going off on the displays inside her helmet's visor... "atmosphere composition changes"? What did that mea-

The suit filtration system came in handy right about now. It cut down on the threat of poisonous gas, for her in suit at least. However, the suit didn't deal with the sticky floor all to well. Movement took too much effort, and when she managed to go forward, it was awkward, jerky, and slow. No, no, no, this wasn't good. She had to keep moving.

Group 5- Chief, Ax, Brainiac 5, Dani Phantom, Mai, Sheik/Zelda

Bladed things. Axes hurled from walls, shurikens, knives. If it's bladed, it's zipping at you at high speed.

It's all Sheik has time to say before he's forced to put his agility and instincts to the test - it's disconcertingly similar to some of the more unpleasant parts of the Shadow Temple, bladed traps and guillotine blades and Stalfos appearing just when you're trying to navigate the other traps...

Still, that's in the past. Right now, he's a little too busy fighting for his and Zelda's lives to reminisce.

Dani wasn't too worried about blades zipping at her, specifically. That's what intangibility was for, but still, there where others there. She'd be horrified at what happened later, but right now, not dying was better.

She kicked out her feet, making a sweeping blade of ecto energy fly out to stop the weapons flying at the team. Now the question in her mind was...

Well, could she make herself and five other people intangible at once?

Whatever thoughts of escape that were running through Cassie's mind died.

Fire.

Fire.

It was how her father died. One massive fireball and the only thing left of him was ash and bones.

They'd replayed the explosion again and again on the news in the days after it happened and now the footage looped in her mind.

This was not how she wanted to die.

Working fast, Mia targets a few jets in particular, launching a volley of freeze arrows. Hopefully they'll plug up the jets, and paint a 'safe zone', for however long that'll last. Seeing one of her teammates more upset than should be expected from just a fire-trap, she moves in back-to-back with her, firing off another arrow to nullify a jet.

"Stature, right? Hi, Speedy. I'm your wing-girl today." She manages a grin, but her face still seems dead.

Group 7 - Elfangor, B5, Cissie, Pixie, Hellion, Sheeana

Have some holographic water pouring into your blocked off chamber. It can drown you just as good. Also, there's some prehensile tangle weeds trying to drag you under.

And there was the tail blade, whipping out to cut away the weeds that were trying to latch onto him.

That was something that'd be easier in his other form, so Brainy made the rapid switch to his larger mode, braced himself, and began projecting a disruptive signal on as many frequencies as he could manage.

Unfortunately he couldn't guarantee it'd be effective, and even if it was it would take some time for him to find the right frequency, so he had to hope that the rest of the group could take care of themselves until then.

Group 8 - Katara, Kelly, Danny Phantom, Seeley Booth, Impulse, Sokka

Holographic robot warriors appear in front of you. Fighting is in close quarters, every time you destroy one, another will appear, and they're massively strong and keep going unless you manage to completely knock them to pieces.

Normally Bart's pretty good at fighting robots. He's faster than them, he can vibrate, trick them, all sorts of things. Normally, though, he isn't just sort of staring at his friend, who is dead. Bart is practically still right now, which is very, very unusual for him. He doesn't really notice the robots, or his teammates, or anything but Jaime right now.

The traps spring into place, people duck and dodge and work together, trying to survive.

Someone else is trying to survive. His body is being kept deathly still, his vitals are being masked, and his mind is being blocked from telepathic prying as he has his initial wake up, so they don't sense the panic and the pain and wooginess. After he's more aware of his surroundings, he thanks his lucky stars that he wasn't vaporized or some such, but Hal knew about him, knew his name. He likely knew his history. He had to hope he'd go for something either appropriate to his history or just altogether something that wouldn't completely obliterate him.

That was the risk. That was the gamble. But he knew Hal saw him as a huge threat for all his prying into the rest of the ship, and knew he wouldn't let him walk away.

The best way for him to survive was to play dead. Because his only other option was dying.
