Phase 2 - Running the Ratrace

You have my sincerest apologies, but I have my mission.

The traps start. Rotating blades coming out of the walls and floors and ceilings, jets of fire, lasers, holographic enemies. The clear walls of the maze let them see what's happening to everyone else.

The traps start, and they have to stay alive despite them. If they stop avoiding them, it's their own fault, you see, if they die. That makes it indirect enough for Stacy's Anti-harming-the-crew protocols to be avoided, as Hal, despite his reprogramming, still has to follow some constraints.

Please commence with killing yourselves by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The only chance the group has is if they work together to stay alive, and somehow they have to take out the shield projectors creating the maze even though they themselves are shielded...

[ooc: Cooperation is key, people. Hal can only adapt to one power/skill-set at a time, not all of them.]

There was a pause as she fired at another robot, knocking its head back for a moment, but the thing didn't really stop. How annoying. Listening to the plan though, she paused, then glanced at the ragtag group she had.

"Sounds like a plan, but running through the robots may not work like planned. We'll need an opening, just to be safe."

Pausing again, she checked the ammo in her rifle and her extra mags. Eight left. The way this was going, it didn't look like it would be enough. "I'll get you an opening and hold it open. You and Danny grab the others and get them out. I'll be right behind you."

Pulling a nav marker out of one of her armor's compartments, she held it out to Bart. "Activate that and keep it somewhere on you. It'll show up as a waypoiny on my HUD. You run them out until you're sure you're all clear. I'll be right behind you. Got it?"

Katara sighed. They weren't listening to her, and that was a little annoying, especially since she'd been asking for intagibility for the others in the first place. Still, considering the situation, she really didn't think it was time to dwell on who was listening to whom. Besides, what they were suggesting wasn't exactly removed from what she wanted to do to begin with. They needed an opening, and not just by firing since that brought the robots back.

What they needed was time.

And Katara would give that to them. Closing her eyes, she breathed, concentrating. The area around them just got colder by a LOT, and now the robots, which were previously moving toweard them with dangerous weapons, were starting to slow in place as they started to become immobile. There was a reason Katara had been asking for them to be intangible a moment before. The cold, after all, was not something everyone was able to take the same way, especially if you were freezing a whole slew of drones. If they wanted an opening, they would have it...and more than just a few seconds worth before regeneration.

"That work for you guys?"

Booth had escaped serious injury in his vital areas, but he has taken one in the leg, and it's hurting like heck. He keeps firing but he isn't sure if it's broken or not. Eventually the robots slow down, and it looks like his group is having some kind of effect.

[identity profile] speedforbrains.livejournal.com 2009-10-25 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Bart nods and takes the nav marker. People never trust him with this kind of thing. "Kay. Be careful." He sticks it into his mask, then vanishes in a blur.

"Wow!" Bart stops next to Katara for a second. "Canyoukeepthemlikethatand do more if more show up?" He's already looking around for who the best person to run out of danger is. Booth's got a leg injury and seems kind of helpless compared to the rest of them. Well, except maybe Sokka. But he's not injured so he can wait. Without waiting for Katara to answer, he's next to Booth.

"HiI'mgonnasaveyourlifenowokay?" He scoops Booth up and starts running, vibrating both of them enough out of sync with the rest of everything to make it through any obstacles (besides the forcefields.)

It takes about a second, maybe less, and Bart puts Booth down gently out of range of the robots. "Youokay?"

[identity profile] sexygman.livejournal.com 2009-10-25 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Booth wasn't entirely thrilled; his soldier's instincts were nagging him to keep fighting as long as he was able. But maybe he should get treatment before he got hurt worse.

"Mostly. Don't know if it's broken or not...just that it hurts like you-know-what. I can still fight though."

[identity profile] speedforbrains.livejournal.com 2009-10-25 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"It'sstupidfightingthem. Probably not real anyway and that's not what we're here to fight." Bart stood there for another second. "Just sit for a little. I'll be back with other people in a second. Don't die if other bad stuff shows up!" He vanishes in a blur.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-10-26 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
She kept going at them, but they weren't disappearing anymore than they were when they were being shot at. That wasn't good, but there was at least a significant pause in their movement for Flash to phase everyone out.

"I'm going to try and rise above them. Danny, if I have some of them aim at me as I go over, can you shield me?"

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-10-26 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
Katara nodded, and she brought her hands up, steadying them a little. The Freezing, which was just aimed at the robots at first, was now water she was using as a method to push back, but only for a moment, before she propelled herself high in the air, the water going liquid, then solid and then back to liquid again and she pulled it back to her arms, hoping she would get hit by a random weapon.

It was very hard to stop projectiles when you were already jumping in the air by water to begin with.

Sokka didn't like this. He was, again, stuck doing nothing while his sister went off and put herself in harm's way. But that's how it had been ever since they found that kid Aang in the iceburg. He was used to it. Didn't mean he had to like it, though.

"Katara, be careful!"

[identity profile] speedforbrains.livejournal.com 2009-10-26 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool, Katara was floating on water in midair. Bart spared a millisecond to think about that before running over to Sokka and scooping him up and ran him over to Booth in about a second. "You'reokayandeverything?" Bart looked at both of them. "Igottago get everyone else. No idea how I'm gonna get Kelly. I don't got superstrength, just the speed. And Katara's a little higher than me so maybe I'll see if Danny can get one of them or something but I think it's better if we're not all fighting the robots that aren't dying you know?"

[identity profile] sexygman.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
BOoth was a little bewildered now that he was alone again. Whoever that guy was, he talked way too fast. Of course now the dull ache in his leg was nagging his brain more now that he could focus on it. He did think enough to rip off a strip of his shirt and tie it above the leg to try and slow the bleeding.

[identity profile] halfa-hero.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Impulse! I'll get Katara!"

[identity profile] unsc-rabbit.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Everyone just move it out. I'll be right behind you." Kelly spoke calmly. Since the situation was handled, she took the moment to reload and backtrack toward the point her nav marker had indicated when Impulse had dropped Booth off.

Maybe they'd get through this after all. Maybe.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Katara went intangible when Danny finally caught her, her heart beating hard in her chest until she was safely brought to where Booth and Sokka were already. She got herself in stance immediately after, ready to throw up a shield for them if necessary.

And if the girl in the really cool uniform needed her help, she'd do what she could.

[identity profile] sexygman.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
At least he wasn't alone anymore. But Booth was stubborn, and he was still trying to stand up and get back into the fight.

[identity profile] theregularguy.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Sokka was busily reloading his shotgun, his ridiculous aviator sunglasses dangling around his neck on the lanyard he'd attached to them.

"Katara! Good, you're okay!" He smiled, a bit relieved, as always, that his sister had made it out okay. He didn't know what he'd do if something happened to her. What would dad say? He glanced down at Booth, then knelt down to look at his injury.

"Hold still, you're hurt. Hey, Katara, come take a look at this." He rummaged in his vest, pulling out a pack of gauze bandages.

[identity profile] speedforbrains.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Bart got on tiptoe and leaned over Sokka's shoulder curiously. "Is he okay? What do we do now?" He didn't want the action to go slow again.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-10-29 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Katara got to her feet, and saw that Booth was injured in his leg, She moved over to him and pulled some of the water from her waterskin and applied it to the leg. For a momennt, the leg glowed, and then it stopped.

"This will have to do for now," Katara said. "I can't go more extensive because I might need to erect a shield at any time. He should at least be able to walk on the leg."

[identity profile] sexygman.livejournal.com 2009-10-30 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh, okay. Thanks" Booth replied. He was going to have fun explaining this one to Bones when he got back, that was for sure.
