Meat n' Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a tall man in green armor and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

It doesn't sound as though Kimberly quite believes him, and really, who could blame her? "It sounds daft, I know. But I've a friend I've met here who's from a time hundreds of years after my own. And from where she's from, they've left Earth and settled on other planets."

Talking about Kaylee and how far in the future she is seems a a good example to use to illustrate his point. At least, he hopes so. Jamie reaches up and scratches at his ear for a moment.

"Come to think of it, most of my friends are from further along than I am. Goliath's not, and the Doctor...well, that's a wee bit complicated." A lot complicated, actually, but it does remind him not all of his friends are from Earth, even though he is.

"I'll admit, I'm not so sure about the ones who aren't from Earth, except for Kaylee. She's the one I mentioned before." He points over to where she's greeting other new members of the crew. "That's her there, with that sign about the hugs."

So people could be from the future, further along in time than she is. How does that work? "Okay. I'm, like, totally confused to be honest." Kimberly tucked her hair behind her ear and looked around again.

"I mean if I'm from Earth and you're from Earth how is it that we can be from different points in time?" It really just wasn't adding up to any logic.

Sorry, Kimberly. It probably doesn't help that Jamie is not the best person to explain this sort of thing. Not only is from hundreds of years before Kaylee, he's from hundreds of years before her as well. He tries anyway.

"It's...well, because of how Stacy travels. She can go through time as well as space. So when she rescued the crew, it didn't matter to her what time we were in."

[identity profile] powerbow.livejournal.com 2011-07-11 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh..." Kimberly had to think about it, even if it didn't make a tone of sense she kind of understood. Except not at all. "Okay" she said with a smile and a nod. She would just stick with the basic story.

"So she rescued us all, huh? Pretty amazing if you ask me." she would have to keep her happy-game face on until she was alone. This whole thing was confusing and made her a little sick in the stomach.

"Aye," Jamie replies, fairly cheerfully, quite taken in by Kimberly's happy-game face. To him, it seems she might have figured things out after all, from that reaction, and he can talk about something a little less confusing. At least, so he thinks.

"And it's not so bad here, most of the time. Well, except for the food, but ye can take that to the Sensoriums and imagine it into something else if ye like."

[identity profile] powerbow.livejournal.com 2011-07-12 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Food. Oh, how she wished she was back on earth sitting on a picnic blanket with her friends eating a fresh piece of fruit. That would be ideal. Except that was so far away, not possible not now.

"I hope you're right" Kimberly said with downcast eyes. She didn't sound too sure about this place being "not-so-bad" it sounded all bad.

The Scot reaches out, meaning to lay a hand on her arm, if she'll let him. It doesn't matter that he barely knows her. She's here by herself, and everything everyone said must be hard to sort out. Well, that and he's a very tactile guy in general. Mostly, though, he's just trying to comfort her.

"Look," he says gently. "I'd not lie to ye about that. If ye like, I can show ye a few of the places here that are nice, like the Sensoriums. Or maybe Hydroponics, if ye want to see some alien beasties."

Jamie may not be the best at explaining things, but he means well, and hopefully some of that is showing through.

Kimberly allowed him to lay his hand on her shoulder. It was a friendly gesture and it made her feel a little at home. "Thanks, James." She said placing a hand on her. "But I should stay here and wait. I mean maybe I'll see someone here" It was all she had. Hope that maybe someone from her world was here.

"Jamie's fine. Not too many people call me James." A hint of a somewhat crooked-looking grin appears. "Well, not unless they're quite cross with me, aye?"

The grin disappears then, and he nods, looking rather more solemn. He can understand wanting to wait. There was always that small chance of finding someone from your world, and who knows? Maybe she would, at that.

"Aye, well, that's true. Look, if ye change your mind, ye can send me a message on the Omnicom, once ye get it. Even if it's later on, I'll be happy to give ye a bit of a tour."

Maybe he can make up for confusing her at least a little bit at that point. He gives her shoulder a brief squeeze before letting go. "I hope ye do find someone ye know, though."

Kimberly just smiled and nodded. Everyone was so willing to help here. It was hard to feel scared. "That sounds great." She said giving him a thankful look.

And as he let go she muttered to herself. "I hope so to" She could use the support of the Power Rangers.

He only half-catches that mutter, but can take a guess as to what it's about, and he gives her a sympathetic smile. "Good luck to ye, Kimberly."

Lifting a hand to wave farewell, he moves back off into the crowd. She seems like a nice lass. He really does hope she can find someone she knows.

"Thank you, Jamie." Kimberly said offering a weak but reassuring smile. She wasn't a weak girl. The time she spent as a power ranger had made her grow in ways she'd never had thought. And she knew that it was the courage of the Pterodactyl that made her so calm right now.

But even though she had the strength inside her. Kimberly didn't know how to react to all this. And how would she react if she saw someone from her home?
